Let’s go!!!!! And dude I am 100% with yall, I don’t let the ending impact everything for me either. The people who hate the entire show now bc of the ending just doesn’t make sense to me. I love this show, this world everything about it.

Glad y'all are watching this! Didn't know the story before this episode but I'm going back and listening to the audiobook now bc it's pretty short and I'm curious to learn more!

Dunk isn’t actually a knight (that’s what the flashback was referencing) He’s acting like one now that who he was squiring for passed away. And he’s going to try and enter the tourney to win and get higher up amongst real knights. Also I haven’t read the books or these novellas either but George rr Martin has said that a ton of the dialogue is one for one from the books. Ps I know you vaguely remembered dunk being mentioned GOT, egg was also mentioned as well!

Lyonel Baratheon, known as "The Laughing Storm," is a significant ancestor, likely Robert Baratheon's great-grandfather or great-great-grandfather, as Lyonel's son Ormund would be Robert's grandfather.

Google says Peter Claffey (Dunk) is 6'5"

Peter Claffey is an Irish actor and former rugby union player. So yeah, Nikki wasn't far off when she said football player. lol

I read the books years ago and although they have some silly/comedy moments, I'd never label it as a comedy.. because it's not.. that would be doing it a disservice, yeah its different from GOT but that's because it isn't GOT, but it seemed way more GOT than house of the dragon ever did imo.. honestly a strong first ep, hotd made me lose all faith but this ep brought me right back😅

What was a spoiler? I haven’t read the books??? Nothing that i said could have been a spoiler in my mind. Everything I said is what I gathered from watching the show.

Jacob Livingston

If something I said was in anyway a spoiler I sincerely apologize

I'm glad you like it. I do too. There was only one time I remember Egg being mentioned. I won't say when because it might be a spoiler. I haven't read the book. I bought it years ago, but never got around to reading it. I guess I'll dig it up, and start reading it now. I knew this was going to be a funny show, from watching the trailer. We need to remember, tho, that GRRM was involved at the beginning of GoT too, then he bailed, leaving the writers with just a meager outline to finish the show on. He hadn't finished the books on time, as I'm sure they (the writers) expected him to when taking on the project. With that said, I'm hoping he sticks around this time, and finishes the project. I always loved GoT all the way through to the end. I never blamed the writers for the direction they took the show. They did the best they could with what they were given. And I loved it all.

Well #1 Nikki is the one who mentioned egg being mentioned in the oringal show?? Secondly it is my opinion that dunk is not a knight??? The flashbacks heavily revealed that he was lying about most of the stories he was telling?? Like what are you even talking about??

Jacob Livingston

All I did was comment my opinion based off of how I interpreted the scene. I didn’t read the book I do not know the source material about any of this. All I know is what I saw from the first episodes and what they said in the original show , which I didn’t mention anything that they did say in the original show. But if my opinion I a spoiler then I’m sorry.

Jacob Livingston

He said his ser told him he was going to make him a knight… they immediately went into a flashback showing dunk ask him and he ignored him. Did you miss that or something?? That’s what I got from the scene. Not to mention the numerous other indicators they showed that lead me to believe that. If it turns out he was made a knight then I’m wrong?? That’s absolutely fine. Nikki and Steven if anything I said was a spoiler I’m sorry. I did not think it was. That is what i intpereted from what they showed us and the clues they gave.

Jacob Livingston

😂😂😂 who are you??? Go back and rewatch it and find it. After remembering that Joffrey was mentioned She said something like wasn’t egg mentioned too? Asked Steven and he didn’t remember. So I confirmed yes he was mentioned and that’s it bc clearly they didnt remember exactly how or why he was mentioned in the show. And people are all debating whether dunk was actually made a knight or he wasn’t. I don’t think he was. If you think he was fine. It seems like YOU read the books and that YOU know forsure.

I don't hate the entirety of Game of Thrones because of the ending but the ending does sort of ruin any interest I had in rewatches for me. If I watch the early seasons now, it just makes me sad, because there's so much potential and knowing where it ends up, it all just seems kind of pointless. One of the things that made early GoT great was the expectation, the epic grand story that was unfolding over the course of the show and all the little clues we got along the way, and when you know that all that expectation will come to... well, whatever it was that it came to, it just makes it a bit less exciting to rewatch. Plus, on a rewatch I also notice all the small seeds that were there from the very beginning that signal the way D&D thought about this series and storytelling in general. Small things they did that seemed like very minor changes from the books that wouldn't normally matter in the grand scheme of things, but that are really telling in hindsight.
