Couch co-op was the best part of the original Kirby Air Ride, and is what I think you guys are missing from this experience. City Trial in particular felt like this kind of endlessly random cage match that prompted you to scramble and customize your car before your friend could. You could add CPU players too but sitting and trying to level up your favorite star before your friend blew it up or or trying to assemble a legendary vehicle in the time limit was the driving force of fun. The mode culminated in a really short “show me what you got” style event. Yes, those could be extremely short, but if you maxed out your glide stat and your friend maxed out their attack Star you would each hope for a different random mini game, and then when it was revealed as a battle game you knew you were Fucked. It was a little depressing hearing you guys talk about this game because it sounds like it’s missing that X factor… childhood friendship. Maybe that’s the nostalgia talking. But the nostalgia is built around in person experiences with something cool, so I wish I could invite you all into my living room to play the game the way I grew up with it. Anyway, I appreciate your perspectives as always. Thanks for sharing.
