Just letting y'all know that we recently had a scammer pop into the comments of the $10 tier launch post with the profile name of "The Besties Podcast Author" telling people to enter a raffle on Telegram or something of the sort. We had a number of you report it, and we really appreciate the heads up. We've obviously blocked the offender and put in some additional safeguards to keep something similar from happening again, but wanted to remind y'all that we'll never ask you for money beyond the very generous donations y'all already put in for the Patreon. (Or, you know, if you bought one of Russ's towels.)If you're ever in doubt or something seems fishy, you can DM us here on Patreon as a safeguard measure. That includes anything fishy you might see in the Substack newsletter comments. We love y'all, be safe out there!

This seems to be going around. This is the second patreon I follow that has had this issue

Can I report all of Russ's cold opens?

Travis

I thought this was gonna be an elaborate critique of loot boxes in games.

But for real, maybe we should bring back steam key raffles or give aways for patreon backers. Always sneak in a NSFW visual novel as one of the keys for the giggles.

Sven

Thanks for the heads up!

This man tricked me into buying 10 copies of Split Fiction

I can’t say I’m comfortable knowing that I’ve bought one of quote-“Russ’s Towels”-end quote.

Similar thing must have happened with Secret Base too. Just saw them put up a similar note

Colin Archer

Thanks for all the great work you do.

Oh wow, posing as The Besties snd scamming folks for cash via Telegram? That’s just like Bart.

Hey, this is not about the scam but — has anyone made an unofficial Discord for Besties fans? Or maybe a Facebook group or something? I’d love to talk about video games with other fans of the pod.
