Saros is the continuation of decades of bullet-dodging action games from Housemarque. But it has most in common with the team’s previous game, Returnal. Is this game welcoming enough to bring newcomers into the pseudo-series? We find out! Plus, a humongous collection of other stuff we’re playing and watching, including a Korean reality TV series that pits different types of spirit mediums against one another! Look, we’re just as surprised, confused, and delighted as you are.

Griffin doing the intro is bittersweet 🥹

Russ mentioned Outland, and the Xbox 360 version is still available for purchase and backwards compatible on Xbox One and Series consoles! I played it years ago back when it first came out, as I had just started getting into search action games thanks to the likes of Shadow Complex. I don't remember much of it but I recall thinking it was really unique, and as Griffin said, it's fascinating seeing how the studio has taken the basic bullet hell premise and expanded it into other genres and gameplay styles. Outland, to me, feels like the turning point at which Housemarque really started experimenting with the limits of what they could do with their little niche, with Returnal and now Saros being the latest steps in broadening their scope. Also have to agree regarding Taskmaster NZ. I LOVE that version.
