One of my favorite episodes! What a treat for a cold, bleak February afternoon.

I love this finale for its use of time travel. The links between young and older Amy and even when the doctor is travelling back through his own timeline and we get to see events we've seen in previous episodes. Interestingly, if you rewatch the episodes with the Angels at the crash of the Byzantium the doctor loses his jacket as he runs away from the Angel. Then when he speaks to Amy about remembering what he told her when she was 7, he is wearing his jacket again. Until you watch this finale episode it comes across as a continuity error when it's actually the doctor at a different time. You are not the only one excited to learn more about River and her back story. We are also excited to watch you learn about her. Episodes with River always end up being some of my favourites but I'm probably bias because I like Alex Kingston as an actress so much. The Christmas special is also one of my favourites even before we get into the next season properly.

I have started a new comment for this because it might take some extra explaining. There is a poem from around the Victorian times in England that is used for weddings to bring good fortune. It goes "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a sixpence inside her shoe". That is the rhyme Rory is referring to in the wedding scene and is what brings the TARDIS back. The idea is that the bride should have an item that fits those five categories at her wedding. Something Old: Symbolizes continuity, heritage, and a connection to the past. Something New: Suggests optimism and a happy future. Something Borrowed: Represents borrowed happiness from a happily married friend or relative. Something Blue: Stands for love, purity, and fidelity. Sixpence in your Shoe: A symbol of prosperity, wealth, and a ward against evil.

Sorry - just to clarify. The poem doesn't directly bring back the TARDIS but it triggers the story that the Doctor told young Amy as she slept about an Old, new, borrowed and blue box.

I like David, but Matt was pretty much my Doctor from the 1st episode. I actually started with the 4th Doctor back in the 80’s and I count him as my Doctor too. I just want to highlight the scene between Amy and the Doctor when he’s in the Pandorica. At one point he kisses his hand and then puts it on hers. I noticed that in particular because that’s an action that my Grandfather used to do. The Doctor can be many things. Sometimes he’s like an uncle, a friend, a kid, a parent or a grandparent. It was here especially I saw the old man in there. He was originally a grandfather in the original series. I won’t say much more in case you ever wanted to watch it. Glad you enjoyed it. I would name this next episode as my absolute favourite Christmas one.
