From script to page: Comic #432 (Patreon)

Whenever I need to jostle my thoughts to come back into focus, I usually go for a walk. It has been so dry and warm here this winter in New Mexico I’ve had plenty of opportunites to get out and about. And the skeptics still claim climate change isn’t real. Lunacy.

Ally and Wendy have been in a sort of a dance since they met. Would they get together? There needed to be clarification as to their official status. A OTP? Does that even exist? 

We left off with a cliffhanger in #431. Ally was about to tell Wendy her feelings on the matter of a potential romantic relationship. You might have noticed we’ve skipped over many of the actual heart-to-heart conversations during the course of the comic. I personally feel some events are better left to the imagination.

The really interesting thing to me is always what happens in-the-middle-of and then after. The skipped beat is that one you feel in your heart, and that is personal. I wouldn’t want to ruin it. 

So are Ally and Wendy a OTP? #432 represents a conclusion of sorts, but it still takes place in-the-middle-of. And who knows what the future will bring.

Panel 1

Wendy and Ally are at a Chinese restaurant.

WENDY: Look, we don’t have to be intimate. But you know, maybe one day it would just be nice to have someone to share things with. And if we’re both still alone when we’re older we could be roomies!

ALLY: Like in The Golden Girls?

WENDY: Haha I don’t know what that is! Tell me.

Panel 2

Ally explains while holding her chopsticks and digging in for a bite. Wendy listens and is amazed she’s never heard about this show before.

ALLY: It’s a show my mom loves. I watch it with her sometimes when I visit. It’s about women who live and spend time together, and look out for each other. 

WENDY: That sounds pretty amazing.

ALLY: I guess I kinda love it too. Gives me hope. Like, I don’t know if I’m ever going to have a truly normal life. But so long as I have friends...

Panel 3

Wendy and Ally eat and talk.

WENDY: What’s normal? Pft. What society thinks? Gal, if I gave two hoots about what this screwy world order considers status quo, I’d go mental. 

ALLY: It is bonkers.

WENDY: You know, there is something to this Golden Girls idea. I am going to hold you to it down the road.

ALLY: Deal!
