During the late 2010s there was a civil war within the comic book industry. I am not sure "industry" is the right word as books are produced by what are effectively tribes. Alliances and agreements. No true cohesion, just an uneasy sense of understanding that comics should be made and there should be an audience to read them. It is very territorial.

Newcomers are not welcomed unless certain steps are taken to appease such agreements. Disruption, the very driver of innovation, is actively identified and shut down unless a breakthrough is made that propels a project past the threshold of annihilation.

I know, right? lol Now you know why I operate independently. I was in that machine for 10 years and escaped with most of my soul.

So, there was a civil war back in the late 2010s called ComicsGate and this storyline is inspired by it. In our tale a compromise is reached, at least after this small skirmish. The war references are intentional.

I wish it had happened in reality. Not the war. The compromise.

Tribal conference to speak your thoughts & feelings are def a positive step to understanding your community differences. Seems like there’s a possibility of understanding & compromise. Conversation isn’t defensive but explanatory. Hoping for reconciliation.
