Dracula vs King Arthur: Silent Interlude (Page 19) (Patreon)
Content
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #21 "Silent Interlude" inspired many a comic creator growing up in the 80s, myself included! Writer Larry Hama "wanted to see if [he] could do a story that was a real, complete story—beginning, middle, end, conflict, characterization, action, solid resolution—without balloons or captions or sound effects."
Page 19 of Dracula vs King Arthur is an homage to that issue. We attempted to tell three different tales on one page without the addition of dialogue or caption boxes. There is Guinevere's anger at Arthur and her desire for Lancelot. In addition, we show the King and the Knights of the Round Table in good spirits after the Quest for the Holy Grail has commenced. And finally, the figure of Merlin emerges to bring knowledge of a new danger. Hope, resentment, passion, and the seeds of betrayal and destruction in just five panels -- that's the power of comics!
