Dracula vs King Arthur: The Hunger (Page 24) (Patreon)
Content
The Hunger is a 80s horror B-movie starring Catherine Deneuve, Susan Sarandon and David Bowie. I liked how it took a scientific approach to vampirism, exploring the idea of what eternal life might actually look like and how it could possibly work. On this page (and the next) our newly created vampire Dracula only knows he is hungry and drawn to warm bodies. He doesn't have a scientist (or better yet, a wizard) to consult on the power that curses him. No, he has to discover what he is and his capabilities on his own.
In the first edition of the comic we added some dialogue to show he was gaining this knowledge as he went. For the collected edition we omitted it. We felt the wordless image of Dracula looking up, hungry for his next kill, represented a more animalistic side to him. Which version do you think works better?
