Youā€™re failing French, and your only hope is the schoolā€™s top tutorā€”who also happens to be the queen bee. Begrudgingly, she agrees to help you, but not without snarky comments about your lack of brainpower. Will you survive her sharp tongue and quips for the next few weeks?

A new audio to start the week off. Bless

Papa Bear

Storm has been so nice to us with French Accents she thought berating us with one would balance out the preferencesā€¦ It did the opposite

Sigmund

Really awesome teacher. This French accent is just perfect. Passe un bon dĆ©but de semaine Storm šŸ’š

tigerlilytea

Thanks for the PTSD storm! Lol! ā¤ļø in college there was this French girl who literally got in my face about my American French. In my defense, I wasnā€™t trying to speak French. It was those French words that was stolen by American people and was pronounced really badly. Etc. Foyer, buffet. You knowā€¦ Those words. She got angry at me because I wasnā€™t pronouncing them correctly. Only later to find out that she was angry at me because I had asked her friend to go watch ā€œwickedā€œ with me. I had an extra ticket because I knew the stage manager for the show. So she got angry when they didnā€™t ask her the second time. When I found out, I wanted to get into her face and just yell ā€œif you really wanted to see that show Maybe say yes the first time I asked you!ā€œ God! I do not miss my early 20s. Was it weird that I kind of got defensive when the speaker was belittling my French accent? I had a friend who spoke fluent French and he told me my accent wasnā€™t that bad. Who wouldā€™ve thought the voice theater degree wouldā€™ve helped here?! Lol! Except, it doesnā€™t help me any when Iā€™m trying to dictate anything on Siri. WTF?! Lol!šŸ˜‚

Zackor

You have been spoiling us with the French Accent and I love it. I would endure any mocking/teasing you would inflict just to hear your sweet angelic voice.

Toy

Here to say I really enjoy your story, tigerlilytea. Also, Wicked is still in the theater where I live, but Iā€™d prefer watching it in Broadway style. And Siri always picks the wrong song when I ask. Take Me to the Beachā€¦not the b*tch...my pronounciation ass.

Toy

I like the little jokes Six sprinkled in, combined with your voice and accent...especially at the end. That really made me feel hopeless in a good way, for real. The way she encourages us makes it feel like sheā€™s rolling her eyes but still wasting her time on us anyway. šŸ˜ Thank you, Storm. Time to get an A+ from her next time. We'll see.

User_Unknown

I don't care who Duolingo sends, I am not doing my French lessons... WHY HELLO... er... Salut! I appreciate how you approach bullies, Storm. Most of the ones I have encountered in media (and, to a degree, in life) have been either uncompelling jerks or one-dimensional caricatures. In contrast, your voice has so many layers to it. I can almost feel how done she is with the listener, but this emotion doesn't just switch off when she starts to warm up to them. It almost combines with a feeling of encouragement to create something that sounds complex and alive. Utterly brilliant! Thanks for the lesson, and I hope you're doing well at your new home.

User_Unknown

No matter what is being said in it, French is still the language of love.

Would You Kindly

Itā€™s like my praise kink and degradation kink are at war with one another throughout this audio while my brain tries to decide which I prefer lmfao. Also that one line where you said ā€œnot at my face dummy, on the textbook!ā€ Made me laugh so damn hard

User_Unknown

I said it once, and I'll say it again: if you wrote a book, I will read the devil out of it. You are just full of awesome stories, Tigerlilytea. I don't blame you for getting defensive. I've delt with my fair share of bullies in the past. Heck, one of them even tried to strangle me. Thus, I too clench up a bit when I see characters like this. At the end of the day though, they are thankfully just characters performing an act. (However, Storm, if you do try to strangle us in the future, would you kindly give us a warning?)

Rafa

God this reminds me of when I tried learning french in high school during covid through zoom it was awful but I love your voice and accent

Toy

This character, I bet she'd make this kind of face šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø when she found out that some of us were ignoring Duo's email. šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

User_Unknown

I imagine she wouldn't be surprised. šŸ˜”

tigerlilytea

Nah, fam! I have a friend who is a programmerā€¦ His theory is that most programmers who program the dictation capabilities or voiceover stuff are white, and male. So they have a very average American accent. And girl! I live in Los Angeles. There is no such thing as an ā€œaverage Americanā€œ accent. Even though I was born and raised here, I have a bit of a Korean accent in my English. I need to try really hard to mouth the words carefully in order to sound ā€œAmericanā€œ although, itā€™s really funny when Iā€™m trying to dictate something professionalā€¦ And it ends up being very dirty. Happened to me more than once! Now that my supervisors know my situationā€¦ They tend to just laugh it off. Thanks for your comment sweets! I hope you have as a beautiful day as you are! ā¤ļø

tigerlilytea

Hey storm? I second that! I would like a warning before you do us any bodily harm! I would like to give you consent first.šŸ˜‰ just kidding! And dear Lord, sweetheart! I hope that person who bullied you stub their toe really hard on a stubborn corner. Nobody. And I mean, nobody, should lay their hands on another person in anger. And girlie, I believe you have an interesting story also. I would like to encourage you to write it. I would definitely read that! And when you get to my ageā€¦ (Letā€™s just say I live longer than Jesus.) everyone would have a interesting story. And by the way, there are a lot of things that I have done in the past that Iā€™m also ashamed about. Will I ever talk about them here? Oh hell, no! Lol! But just saying, interesting doesnā€™t always mean better, or good. Iā€™m just here to amuse people. If my small stories make someone laugh, Iā€™m happy. Thanks for your consideration, sweets! Sending you much love! ā¤ļø

Thank you for the French content recently. One French upload literally gives me a week of instant KO sleeps

Gerrit

Super unique, the specified words just scratched the right part of the brain. Lovely audio boss šŸ¤ž

Corben

Was getting real "it's LeviosA, not LeviosUH!" Vibes at the start lol

Message in a bottle ASMR

Oh thanks! This one had a lot of improv in it to be honest, which made it even more fun to play šŸ˜‚

User_Unknown

I could certainly hear the improv. Very nice. I may have to give Duo a visit, but, then again, "French or the trench" doesn't sound very inviting.

User_Unknown

That theory your friend mentioned has much validity to it, Tigerlily. There is evidence for that same problem happening with facial recognition as well, with white males being the main models for them. Then again, technology nowadays sucks too; so, there's that. I used to live in LA's backyard myself. Fun times! Absolutely correct when discussing American accents. All accents in the US have variations that make them unique. You will certainly find others who find it an annoyance, but I am not one of them. All accents are beautiful, and the melting pot of cultures that make up the US make it strong. I appreciate your words, Tigerlily, and I agree. Consent is absolutely important in all facets of life. Thankfully, I am not around those people anymore. I would like to think that the corners of their furniture are avenging me, but I'd rather not waste my mental resources on them. We all should start a writing circle and draft out our memoirs! Thank you as well, Tigerlilytea. I wish you the same.

SoldatMomokai

that1otherJake

So many memories from highschool. Lol.

Message in a bottle ASMR

Haha non car si jā€™en fais un je continuerai de recevoir des demandes dā€™en faire dā€™autres, puis dā€™autresā€¦ finalement Ƨa sā€™arrĆŖterait jamais

Toy

Take Duo on a trip somewhere, throw him into the Mediterranean while enjoying my treats and admiring the view. šŸ„±

User_Unknown

I'm afraid if I try that, he may he one step ahead of me.

Driskulls

I have now finally learned the ways of the french tsundere and I dare say french tsundere is best tsundere. (I need a sequel to this so badly. I'd go run a marathon for a sequel and I hate running)

Niwol

I read somewhere that French is quite complicated for foreigners, because of the conjugation and the grammar. Even we, dear French, struggle with it somtimes.

Mike

I am Russian living in the US Being bullied by a french girl For not speaking language i never learned. That was funnyšŸ˜‚

[REDACTED]

Nice more French accents!

[REDACTED]

LOOKING FORWARD TO PART II!

User_Unknown

We show off what we've learned in an attempt to impress her.

[REDACTED]

That was a compliment! What did you think it was :(

Jess Carri

ā€œLife is unfair, get over it.ā€ Literally the most French thing ever said.
