Talking 'bout (a revolution): depression, keeping faith, losing oneself in the virtual world, taking a good look at one's life and letting go of toxic habits, going away for a while, finding a community 💕

It is DAMN HARD to let go of those characters. I know the feeling first hand, and the solution was indeed to limit yourself to only however many are absolutely necessary and just enjoy the story/setting rather than try and control as much of it as you can. Just be careful about the nicotine. I hear it can be an abusive and persistent ex.

CaiusPerryn

It's great to hear that you're looking for ways to get out more often and to meet new people! Social life can be so difficult to maintain once you're done with school, right? It can be hard to consistently stay in touch with your old friends, but I think it's far more challenging to make new friends, especially if you can't find things to do outside of home. It has been a huge problem for me in recent years, and it's been weighed down by transportation limits and -- as you mentioned -- a non-standard work schedule. I'm glad that you're exploring for solutions.

Sigmund

No matter what you do with who you are, stay true to yourself. Don't let anyone decide your destiny, your desires, or your plans. I myself have been living with unbearable loneliness for many years, so I keep myself busy as best I can. This ramble touched me, and you deserve a bright future. Storm, thank you for knowing and discovering you. I wish you power and happiness. And stay healthy 💚

Aura

Well, well, it’s certainly been a while since the last ramble, hasn’t it? It’s always a pleasure to hear from you, Storm, and we appreciate you sharing a slice of your life with us folks here. First off, big hugs to you from all of us here. Your feelings are valid. Depression, self-depreciation and self-doubt can be a destructive force that gnaws away at whatever is positive. I’m glad that you were able to uplift yourself in these times, and the idea of the vision board sounds like a wonderful one! I hadn’t heard of that concept until today, and it just goes to show that you learn something new every day. You are certainly not alone in your struggles, and we all fight every day in hopes of a better tomorrow! Keep it up and never give up the good fight. I will continue to be grateful and thank you for all the work you do for us, Storm! Even if we are simply internet strangers, you’ve helped so many people in myriad ways through your stories and your work overall. Please always keep that as a badge of honour and use it to remind yourself of your accomplishments (among the many others I’m certain you also have). From a storyteller’s perspective, characters are a funny thing, aren’t they? You metaphorically “birth” them into this world and can’t help but feel attached to them. Having to say goodbye is always hard, but sometimes it is required. Be not sad that it’s over, but be happy that it happened. I’m sure you’ll find a happy medium in due time, and the characters can sail off into the sunset, fulfilled and happy, and we all shall be one day! Being isolated and lonely is very real, and I have a little side story to share in that regard. Let’s just say, I was also in the same boat, but recently, a close friend was in the area, and I got a call from them, and they said they wanted to hang out. No further plans aside from that. Okay, so I ended up accompanying them to run some errands, and when all was said and done, we sat in the car, and we just... talked. We talked about life, about where I am, about where we are, and generally about how I was doing, and it was genuinely something I needed. Did it solve everything? No. But it made me feel infinitely more positive. Being able to confide my personal emotions with someone, and just meeting and TALKING to someone in person, helped immensely in lifting my spirits. In that sense, I understand the need for the sense of community that you speak of. I hope your quest to find people in your space bears fruit, Storm. Humans are social creatures after all, and I hope you can find a community where you can laugh, share, cry, and smile with people who share experiences and lives similar to yours! Props to you for dropping vaping, and I hope you keep it up! 👏 Those habits can get quite expensive! You can think of it as saving money for other things as a bonus for quitting. 🤭 But honestly, as someone who does not drink or smoke/vape (I know, I’m boring af), as a direct result of seeing what it can do to folks far too many times in my personal life, I am all for it when people are able to let go, because as we all know, the deeper you go, the harder it is dig yourself out! I have rambled on for far too long (and this was supposed to be your ramble! 🤭), but the gist is this: You are loved, you are worthy, and you are doing amazing. Continue to strive, and always aim for the stars, but remember that even the brightest stars can burn out. As such, remember to take breaks and to be kind to yourself. Disconnect, decompress, and destress in all the ways you know, and hey, maybe you’ll find new ways along the journey as well. Sending you all the love and well wishes, Storm. I hope your journeys every day bring you closer to the fulfilment you desire. Take care, stay awesome, and here’s to many amazing moments in the future, for many more days to come. 🥂 P.S. Who knew a ramble audio would be what brought me out of hibernation?

Thank you for sharing your struggles and your story of these last few weeks. About going ‘offline’ sometimes: relatable. My job’s in counseling, mostly through face-to-face conversations, but some of my clients have my phone number, so they can seek support when they’re really down or panicked. I’m not required to respond to their messages outside of my work hours, but I like to be there for them. On the other hand, I’ve found that I do really need some alone-time/“offlinetime” to replenish and restore. It’s tough to make that decision sometimes, but so so necessary. Tbh, I’ve been needing therapy to start dealing with that in a healthy way, among other things as well. And it’s nice to ramble and vent about these deeper feelings and thoughts I have about my life and life in general. Although, I’m not gonna lie, there have been some rather tough sessions as well. But yeah, it’s a process, gotta give it time. I’m glad you found some hope through the process of that vision board! I wish you all the best and a ‘shelter’ for those rainy and dark periods of life. Thank you for all that you do, Storm. I appreciate you 🫶

Would You Kindly

Aw Storm, let me just start by saying that I am so incredibly proud of you for trying to quit nicotine and for trying your best to remain yourself. Addiction is really one hell of a demon, and it can feel so overwhelming to deal with. I think it’s awesome that you used Hypnosis to help! When I was in withdrawal and trying to get clean I used Hypnosis to help me sleep at night cause I could barely sleep more than 2 hours a night and it was so helpful and comforting. You know your limits better than anyone, and you know what’s best for you, but I will say in the entire time Ive been following you, I don’t think you’ve taken a break ONCE. Your consistency and hardwork is so amazing and it’s what got you to where you are, but don’t think that all of this is going to disappear if you need to take a few weeks to yourself! It’s really important to prioritize yourself sometimes and 99% of us love you and your content because it’s YOU. You’re not replaceable and you deserve a break sometimes 🩵.

This is the first ramble I’ve listened to since becoming a member this past July, and I really appreciate your willingness, Storm, to talk about being depressed, losing focus on your passion and overall being lost with direction in life. It really touched me on a personal scale because I felt like that not too long ago… It was spring of 2024 and I had failed my first go around in the nursing program at my local college. Once the semester ended, I felt borderline depressed, felt lost overall and it really made me question if Nursing was what I really wanted to do and if all the years of hardship and pain leading up to it was just a waste. However, I was able to get back on track by doing a few things. The first thing I did was “unplugging the router and wait for a few moments” I did this by just getting away from all things college and worked on improving myself, physically and mentally. Weather it be learning a new skill or finding an interesting hobby helps, and it was a literal refresh. The second thing I did was reaching out to trusted friends who’d listen and support me in a healthy way as I was recovering and going through it. The third thing I did was that I deeply re-evaluated my self, asked myself the deep questions like: “Why did I want to do nursing in the 1st place?” “Do I still have that motivation and drive I initially had when wanting to do nursing?” and “How can I avoid having the same out come if I did want to try again?” I did this for the rest of 2024. I ultimately re-entered the program January of last year, and I noticed I had newborn focus and determination and I still have that to this day. I am currently on pace to graduate at the end of the year if all things go to plan… I say all that to tell you this Storm, and to anyone else that is going through hard times that feels like a dead-end. Sometimes all you need to do is to take a step back and look at the overall picture… we can get so hyper focused on the certain aspects that gives us stress of what we do that we forget about the good part of why we do it. Thank you for reading and hope you all have a great and blessed day ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Ps. Happy belated birthday Storm, and what is everyone’s choice of tea?

C

Happy late birthday, Storm. Listening to these ramble audios is like hearing a voicemail from a friend. Glad to see you're looking for more ways to socialize and I can totally relate to the feelings of being isolated. It's never easy. Wanted to also say your audios have helped me a lot with sleep and also in a way motivated me to start improving certain areas of my life. Such as improving my health and starting to look for what my real path in life should be. Keep being awesome and continue taking care of yourself, Storm.

TooDear

Firstly, I'd like to say that I am very proud of you, for multiple reasons. It is difficult for people in general to open up about our issues even when it is the best thing we could do in the moment but you've chosen to do that even if it isn't the easiest in the moment. I'm also proud of you because of all the work you've done. You've expanded your original small asmr channel into a full job capable of supporting you. Secondly, I'm very thankful for everything you've made. You've been told this by many of your fans, including myself, but your audios help people so much. I've yet to meet a person in my life who isn't hurting at least a little in some way, and your voice helps many, many deal with that in whichever way helps them. If I could take a moment to mention a personal example, I mentioned to you and others that I made it to 4th year of college and that hopefully I'll be graduating soon. I thought that after going to a second college and finally finishing it I'd feel a sense of achivement. I didn't. I feel nothing about being so close to finishing college. I don't feel proud at all, it feels more tiring than ever. I just want to get it done, and that sucks. To me, as I get older and older (24 now yay), I realize that "doing" something rarely means much. It's the people I spend time with that mean most to me. My friends most of all, since I often have issues with family. So we all have to keep moving forward. Perhaps for the things we wish to achieve, perhaps for the people we love or perhaps just for ourselves. Whatever the reason, it is enough.

Storm, I'm sitting here in my conservatory with time to think. Faint jazz from the next room, soft evening light, nowhere in particular to be tomorrow. Despite that, I remain restless. I'm trying to escape a tension hanging over my life. I keep confronting myself with the things I said I wanted to do, but didn't. I keep telling myself that although I'm making steps in the other things, it's barely enough to stay in the same place. I'm sitting here with my eyes closed to try and find some peace from that feeling, or rather, thinking that it will just find me instead. Although peace and I don't meet, my cat Lulu's paw does meet my forearm, and I realise the time had passed for her dinner. Even though nirvana is still out of reach, I can still make her happy, not by sitting around, but by getting up again. Maybe after that, I can take the next step to making myself happy too, because I deserve that chance to try again. You make me, a paragraph on the internet, very happy indeed. You deserve to succeed at whatever you desire. The fact that you keep seeking all of these experiences just confirms to me that you will find the right path. You refuse to settle when you know you have more potential, and that is very inspiring. The work you share, whenever you do, is always very much appreciated. I hope you find people in your world who can appreciate the real you just as much. Thank you.

Message in a bottle ASMR

That setting sounds so cinematic 🤩 Lulu is such a cute name for a cat 🥰 and yes you do deserve that chance again! Thank you for your words 🙏

Message in a bottle ASMR

Awwww thanks TooDear! That made me feel all warm and fuzzy 🥰 and I'M proud of you for being almost done with college! Allow yourself to savor the finishing line, do something to celebrate even if it feels like "nothing". And you're absolutely right about spending time with people that matter being more important than the rest of our "achievements." I'm pretty sure no one has ever said on their deathbed "I wish I'd worked harder"... but "I wish I'd spent more time with my loved ones..." most probably! ❤️

Message in a bottle ASMR

That makes me very happy to read! You're on the right track 💪 thank you for commenting and showing up for me and for yourself! 💕

Message in a bottle ASMR

Thank you! So proud of you for taking that much needed break and re-entering the program when you felt ready! That shows a deep knowledge of yourself and what you need and it's admirable 🧡 (and I like any kind of tea, except maybe ginger!)

Message in a bottle ASMR

Glad you resonate with the hypnosis thing! Hahaha I do take breaks... you just don't notice them because I plan things in advance 😏 Thank you for your words 🙏

Message in a bottle ASMR

Oh that sounds really tough Chrisy-Ann! Everyone needs offline-time, there's no questioning that. Especially people like you that carry such responsibility in the life of others 🙏 I appreciate you too! ❤️

Message in a bottle ASMR

I know what you mean: sometimes when we feel heavy and low, we're not looking for solutions but just for a listening ear and some company/support. I'm glad your friend was able to offer that to you (perhaps unknowingly). And thanks for your encouragement! I'm glad this ramble brought you out of hibernation! 😂 🫶 maybe you should try doing a vision board too? Hehe 😜

ColonelHansLlama

You are most welcome. I really hope that rambling at us helps you too.

Message in a bottle ASMR

Thank youuuuu! Makes me sad that you're living with "unbearable loneliness", so please know that at least you're not alone with that feeling. Merci pour ton soutien 🥹 🥰

Message in a bottle ASMR

Omg yes it's very, very difficult once you're done with school, and... no one tells you that! I hope you can find some solutions as well (even if it's just an online community or some virtual friends until you can meet people in real life), because no one should be living in isolation like that! 😭 don't give up!!

Message in a bottle ASMR

I know right? And yeah... it's a sneaky, toxic ex that keeps telling you "we were so good together" 🙄 hahaha

Sigmund

Stay strong, stay loved, stay respected, stay happy. And above all, stay.....Storm! Paix et espoir à toi 💚🙏🤗

BT

Storm, thank you again for sharing a little bit of your life and struggles with us. Depression is a hard battle that we all fight through at times, and I think you hit the nail on the head in finding a way out. (Or at least finding the same thing that worked for me) Being part of a community is an amazing thing and something I think a lot of us take for granted in this digital age. Finding kindred spirits or at least those who can be more yourself with changed my life in a big way back when I was in a dark place. I hope you can find something like that too.

Kicked Gaming

I’m very happy for you too, for breaking your addiction to vaping and acknowledging that you need a retreat to regain your mojo. Not everyone can say or do these things and it’s not easy, but you did. Your health and your mental well-being should always be top priority. Because what good is it if you put soo much love, and effort in what you do, but you deep down are not happy and healthy? I hope your retreat will be beneficial to you and gives you the help that you need, I’ll keep you in my prayers 😊…. (It’s also a shame that ginger tea isn’t your most preferred. I would’ve recommended you my favorite tea to make, with is: Cinnamon bark, grated turmeric and ginger, lemon squeeze and maybe raw honey)

Jen's lost echoes

The holidays were ok. Life is ok. But at the same time, it feels like it's not... I am surrounded by lovely people online, but IRL I'm still so lonely... I remember when I joined your Patreon. I was such a mess. I just wanted another way to escape reality. I feel like I've grown and evolved since, like I've matured a bit, but I think I'm also still the same idiot who keeps looking down on herself because she feels like a failure. I keep moving forward slowly, but I can't help looking back to the past very often to see all the things that happened and have been lost... When you mentioned the part of purpose, I hope you realized that helping us relax to cope with life is something you're great at Thank you for sharing with us a bit of your burdens. We are there to support you just like you do for us. It may not be much but it's not nothing either. I hope things will get better for you and everyone here. Sending you hugs and best wishes, and also, happy belated birthday to you 🤍

houzi

I can always appreciate a good pep talk 😌 Your content has brought so many of us joy and comfort, and it's inspired us to grow. I know for myself, your audios have given me plenty of moments for real introspection about what I truly value. This ramble alone has given me a few things to reflect on. Meditation and visualization haven't always come easily to me. But that conference sounds rather interesting and I'm glad it resonated with you. The idea of everyone sharing a common purpose is such a wonderful way of putting things into perspective. It doesn't have to be a huge, grand gesture. We simply offer others what we have to give. Holding open a door, saying hello, sharing a kind word, offering a listening ear, or sending a quick text to check in. It's amazing how something that costs us virtually nothing can mean the world to someone else in that moment. Even if it doesn't feel like much, I believe that with each of those small acts, we put a bit of positive energy into the world. And that energy can build into something greater. If only everyone could be just a little bit kinder, and show just a little more respect for one another. And those small acts of kindness should be applied to ourselves, too. We shouldn't diminish the things we've done, big or small. Just as we need to be kinder to others, we need to be kinder to ourselves. It’s always painful to see people struggling to recognize their own self-worth. When we’re going through a hard time, it’s easy to let negative thoughts shape how we see ourselves. When those thoughts start to creep in, we can try to reframe them and remind ourselves that each of us may be right where we need to be at this moment. I'm not saying we should settle and stop growing; just that we don’t have to pressure ourselves to change overnight. Growth takes time, and we deserve compassion from others and from ourselves while we do. This comment section is proof that your work has brought so many of us together. I don't know if any of us would have opened up otherwise. You've even given each of us the opportunity to post our own rambles 😂 May we all get the chance to travel, meet new people, create new connections, and experience new things soon! Don't ever stop being you, Storm. You are a special soul and will always be appreciated. Get out there, find your people, build the life you want and deserve. And don't forget to find the small joys in life when you need to, like tea 💛

MetalGearLiberty

happy your doing better! and Happy belated! love this ramble. Wouldn't mind seeing more in the future

Kari

Its been a little bit since ive been in this patreon tier and a lot has happened since ive been here last. This winter was a little rough😅 got into my first ever car accident and got my car totaled, got a promotion at my job, stopped going to the gym because I was falling behind in college, but then started going to the spa once a month. Going to the spa for the first time as a man by myself was definitely nerve racking but now i dont think I can go without it. Lots of ups and downs dealing with the seasonal depression and life just life-ing as it does. Wanna spend more time outside once this DAMN SNOW GOES AWAY GOD I HATE BLIZZARDS. I also feel like I need more real life connections outside of my main friends. I love them to death and they're amazing, but we're all adults and I can't see them a lot, and when I go to campus i just stay in the library and do my work. It gets repetitive and even though I know in not, I feel so isolated and alone in this cycle. So come spring, im gonna be going out a lot more and just living. Can't spend so much time worrying, ill age too fast😂 Hope you have a good week!

Hawkeye

Happy belated birthday dear Storm. It is good to hear that you found something to help with your seasonal depression, and that you enjoyed some family time. These are so important to have. And here is a little, maybe not so "clever" trick for not loosing oneself in the digital world: build a house. At least that is my current project since december and suddenly you barely got time for all that digital stuff, instead you throw around tons of material 😅 And your voice definetly helped easing some backpain here and there, so thank you for that ❤️ Keep your chin up, stay strong and healthy everyone. And dont forget to take important tea breaks now and then🍵

Ikllo

I don't think necessarily the time you spend writing is a waste. It's clear you're a talented story teller, your character acting/writing is something I really enjoy about your content. You've developed and are practicing a talent. You don't give yourself enough credit. I wish you luck though in finding a positive community that embraces you in the way that you need. I appreciate the gifts your story telling provides, and you deserve it.

Reiran

Man, you make me want to plan a trip to the spa with the boys! Hang in there, brighter days lie ahead.

anubis_phoenix181

Happy belated birthday, Storm! You trying to quit vaping, I believe you can kick the addiction away for good! Wishing you the best and thank you for audios

Reiran

Aw Storm, I hope you've been feeling better lately. I do a lot of visualizing with my therapist when feelings of anxiety or depression pop up. It might sound a bit nerdy, but when I want to invoke confidence, I visualize the scene of Kratos reclaiming his throne in the latest God of War Ragnarök DLC (a bit of an aside, but the studio actually made this DLC for free!). I don't know how familiar you are with the series, but in a nutshell, Kratos goes through a redemption arc in the game. If you don't care about spoilers, I highly recommend watching the last scene in GoW Valhalla (the DLC). It gets me every time. Anyways, the holidays for me have always been bittersweet. I like the holidays themselves, but the feelings of romantic loneliness always comes up during the holidays. I've been trying to put myself out there, but it's quite difficult. There were two women I was talking to, but I found out they just got out of long term relationships, and they wanted some breathing room before jumping into another relationship. Having experienced that, I completely understand. It still sucks being rejected, but I'll manage. Your audios definitely help me with that loneliness and remind me that even though it's fantasy, there's still someone out there that is worth putting myself out there for. I've been trying to show up more in my interactions with friends and family. I've always felt like I was holding something back in our interactions. As a result, I've always felt dissatisfied with our relationships. I've been slowly but surely working on that though by engaging more and trying to ground myself when I get stressed. It was nice to spend (vitrually) some time in the morning with you as I prepared my meals for the week. Giving you extra hugs!

Reiran

Ah, I knew I forgot something. I don't know how much experience you have with nicotine but I can relate to being addicted. I struggled a lot with alcoholism and opioid abuse. It's been five and a half years since my last relapse. I know they're pretty different, but if you wanted to vent about them, I'm more than willing to lend an ear. Having said that, I also want to respect your privacy, so no pressure of course. Thank you for creating this community, and happy belated birthday!

houzi

We know ourselves best, which can be a double edged sword. As we grow, we learn what our strengths and weaknesses are, which means we know where we need to improve ourselves. But that can also lead to us being overly critical of ourselves. You've grown, even if it doesn't feel that way. Looking at your past self shouldn't only remind you of your flaws, but should also show you how far you've come and how much further you can go. Being imperfect doesn’t mean you're a failure. It means you're human like the rest of us. Still trying, still learning, still growing. And you're definitely not alone in feeling this way. Meeting people and building connections can be hard and it feels worse when we already feel down about ourselves. Knowing yourself means you should also be kind to yourself. Give yourself the same kindness you'd give someone else. Be proud of yourself, because the progress you've made deserves that kindness too 💛

Tacitus_Kilgore

Getting off of nicotine/vaping sucks and it’s hard. I got hooked on it when I was younger. And it’s so hard if there’s no external pushing factor. I probably only quit because my friends wanted me to come back and play football (took a year off due to surgery). I quit it on the night of prom and I haven’t touched nicotine or even been tempted to, sober or inebriated, in about 7-8 years. But breaking free you’ll feel so much better after the first couple months!

Message in a bottle ASMR

I don't know the game but that scene sounds like a fantastic visualisation idea! And yeah I agree with you, the holiday season makes it even harder sometimes for single people (for example my siblings always bring their partner and I never have one 😭) Thanks for the birthday wishes! ❤️

Message in a bottle ASMR

Hahaha I love that for you! I'd be pretty useless at building a house (building stuff is NOT part of my skillset). But anything that requires physical strength helps to reconnect with the present moment, away from the digital world for sure ☺️

Message in a bottle ASMR

I love your way of approaching things! And yeah I get what you mean about blizzards, they must get old pretty fast. Spring is around the corner, so hang in there! I'm sure you'll make lots of new friends just by putting yourself out there 🙏 💪

Message in a bottle ASMR

Yes you're absolutely right, growth takes time and it's not linear (that's probably the hardest part.) I love that you guys are rambling too! It gives me an idea of who my audience is, and what you're all about and all the things we may have in common without even realizing. Thank you for the kind words Houzi 🥹 🙏 💕

Message in a bottle ASMR

Omg Allie I suffer from the same disease of looking back at the past and lamenting on all the things I could have done differently, and all the times I failed at something or did something stupid that had terrible consequences. I'm sorry you feel this way, I feel ya 🫂

Reiran

Omg My brother always brings his partner too! It's a struggle!

Kiei

This was a nice listen. Hope you’re doing ok and much better Storm. (I recently upgraded to Meteor so just getting around to this section but I’m also anxious with comments). I’m starting up a new job that’s full time since working part time for some years. (Covid really messed things up for me lol) Truly grateful for your words and insight you give, and how you deliver them. Definitely appreciate that! Congrats on the achievements and enjoyments ^^ keep going at your pace and the rest will come 🫶🏽

Message in a bottle ASMR

Aw thank you! Congrats on the new job! 🥳 I hope it goes well! thank you for commenting 🥹

I've ever heard of hypnotism being used to quit a vice before 😂 but it's nice you got off it even for at least a time. Been on and off mine and I might try that The "Is this gonna be my life now" really resonates when in a rut. It's even ironic that the cycle is repetitive and yet you lose yourself inside it. It's nice you got to go out and travel a lot after this! It looked like you really needed that 😊 I hope you get to more adventures like that in time. I should really take your advice and break the cycle too. Planning that one trip with my friends to hop around East Asia but sometime in the future I'd love to visit the Mediterranean and Western Europe. I'd love to meet the people and see sights. I'm glad you're doing relatively better. Take it easy on work and would love to hear more about your future travels. Don't worry about the pep talks, we love those 😊

ALLEYCAT

Hey Storm. Just listened to this. I know you posted this a while ago but I hope that things are going well for you. Know that you are in my prayers. I have also been through depression due to feeling a lack of purpose, trying to move past toxic habits and trying to find community. So this spoke to me on a personal level and was a real help. God bless you
