It changes often, but history has it's eyes on you was my absolute favorite Hamilton song for a long time. It means a lot to me personally

geekygiraffe

The nod to the double meaning of "until we meet again" was so good!! I never knew that!

draeonic 🪼

I'm French and I never thought about it 😭

Wow that "hey, dickbag" came from the heart 😂

lotsaravioli

The "Hey, dickbag" killed me, just like the astonishment on Casper's face 🤣

Itzayana

The intro- Casper did not miss a beat!🤣😭

Itzayana

“How the fu-?” 😭😭😭

Ari.g

“HEY DICKBAG-” hercules really possessed mortius for a second there 😭😭

AstralAegis

Wait, am I older than Mortius?!? Since he said he was in highschool during Hamilton, but I was already out of highschool for three years in 2015...

Dorothy Rosenberg

I’m gobsmacked that Mortius discusses the expertise required to be an on stage actor. Thank you for that insight.

To add to the F bomb since the info is sightly wrong: There is 3 F bomb in hamilton. I've never seen broadway censoring any. But since it was turned into a movie it needed to follow the MPA (Motion Picture Association) rules for rating. You can have one F bomb in total if you want your movie not to be rated R (17+). And Disney didn't want a R rated movie on Disney+ so Lin decided to censor 2 out of the 3. Lin's tweet: "...I literally gave two fucks so the kids could see it: [...]"

Two regular shows with audiences were filmed and the close ups were shot on their dark day, with no audience.

One of the recurring percussion motifs in Act 1 seems to be Revolutionary War military drum patterns. Regiments had drum and fife musicians to aid communication with the troops. There were daily notifications and march cadences. And on the actual battlefield, drummers could signal for the soldiers to turn right or turn left, when to load and fire their muskets, and when to cease fire. I find this video from Colonial Williamsburg interesting. https://youtu.be/l54X_od4FVs

Lin wrote such great parts for Chris. Possibly because he knew early on that Chris was going to be Washington, and Lin was so familiar with his voice from all The Heights performances. But I’m sure Chris exceeded what Lin had even imagined. Chris is SO good, I can understand this song being a favorite.

Finally having some time to check this reaction and you bringing in the "au revoir" meaning litteraly "until we meet again" was absolutely on point ! Lafayette is a huge name in France history and he has always been one of my fav character in Hamilton (tho Eliza will always have my heart) (also yes, Rochambeau was a general who joined the american revolution)

Michelle Schaefer

History has it's eyes on you is my fave in Act 1!!! This is gonna be good!

Emily Lewis

Its a little sad that the show doesn't include any mention of Friedrich Steuben.

Emily Lewis

Also in American schools we learn four things about Hamilton, two which are not good light. Really puts the tell your story in perspective

aj knows

When you are done with Hamilton you should watch some of the ham4ham ones. They kinda mix and match with the songs and actors and some of them are super fun. If you have the time for them that is

Lin Manuel Miranda performed what he thought was the opening song from his hip hop concept album about Alexander Hamilton at the White House in 2012 - there’s still video of it on YouTube. Over the next couple of years it morphed into a Broadway musical. In 2016 the original Broadway cast performed again at the White House. Chris Jackson, a biracial performer, sang as Washington for Obama, the nation’s first biracial president, under the watchful eyes of a portrait of George Washington.

"Hey! Hey this is your channel...HEY Dick Bag!" 🤣DYING
