This one was mad uncomfortable to listen to - Hope you guys are ok with the shorter video here, not much to break down. Viewer discretion is advised.EDIT - I have now learned that this one and "Blue" basically "replaces" each other in different versions of the show. I will include this in the YouTube video via voice-over.

good lord that keyboard is noisy I'm not sure if that was explicitly stated, but You're Welcome replaced Blue in the West End show, which explains the different Veronica. There's another song later on that'll have her again.

For just a bit of context - this song replaces Blue in the lineup from the West End (UK) show onwards, since overall feedback was that Blue wasn’t done in the… best taste given the topic. We probably won’t get the original Broadway Veronica singing this song, but definitely recommend checking out some of the added songs in the West End revamp if you’re interested!

I think the line that hits me hardest in this one is "hey, you wanted to be popular" (and being sexually available to us is the price)

Nika

This song is only in the UK album (I think it replaces Blue) which... Idk I get the reasons but I'm not really a fan of it.

"Where are the Heathers" In the new version, the conversation in changed and both Heathers leaves. VERONICA: Why Kurt and Ram wanted me here exactly? HEATHERS: Come on, we've seen you looking at Kurt. You think he's cute right? Have fun! - LEAVE They tried to make the heathers look less guilty and Ram / Kurt more guilty. It's not that they thought the first song was controversial but they thought it was too catchy / not serious enough about how some teenagers don't see some actions as r*pe. They didn't want to minimize their action.

I didn’t notice until you pointed it out, that guitar in the beginning is playing “Heather, heather, heather” from Beautiful. How have I never heard that before

Liz Lilliman

This song as people said is UK version im certain that it is sung by Carrie hope-fletcher. I never liked it as I was used to blue and seen a slime tutorial of the us version. Heathers did a UK tour and we went and I must admit it did fit in better with the stage version if that makes sense. Blue is so catchy though.

Amber Branson

I prefer "You're Welcome" over "Blue." It's more interesting to listen to, and it doesn't have Blue's playful pretense. It is scary and uncomfortable, but Veronica is allowed to fight back. Blue doesn't quite feel like it's taking the situation as seriously as it needs to.

Dorothy Rosenberg

I agree with your reaction: this video & song are unsavory. Seeing it is probably important for the storyline.

Phoenix_mercury

Agreed! I definitely understand why blue was cut, felt too comedic for the subject matter Vs yw

Phoenix_mercury

That's part of the issue with blue, so I understand why it was cut, it felt too comedic for the subject matter Vs yw

Danika Wolfbaine

Yeah Blue was odd to listen to, this definitely fits more to me in the story of what's actually happening! Plus I love Carrie Hope Fletcher! I got to see her live in the Addams Family and she is just amazing

Rachael Harris

Blue and you’re welcome are very loaded. No way around it. Are you going to do the added songs as well? I wonder because “Never Shut Up Again” is after this but there no full animatic for it that I know of.

Baron Salt

I cannot wait for you to hear lifeboat. It's so emotional

This version is Carrie Hope Fletcher-Montague (Hope is her middle name). I saw the West End show at The Other Palace and didn't know they changed anything until it happened on stage. I disliked "You're Welcome" mostly because I felt like it was trying to be more modern (as in today modern) rather than 80s style and it just didn't work? Also didn't like that they gave Heather Duke her own song, the actress did amazing at the vocals for it, but the whole point of HD's character is she never does anything original. That's why she didn't have a song for herself originally (and Shine a Light Reprise isn't even her own song).

Liz Lilliman

Yes they did. It is the shut your mouth I think , after hc tries something without spoiling anything

Kory Misun

I didn't even know this song existed in Heathers. Don't like it, and I like Kurt and Ram somehow even less than I did previously.

KarmaStratus18

If I remember, the HEATHERS tricked her into this situation and then took off and left her with them.

Callum Smith

I disagree though because I think in Blue they are harassing her whereas in You're Welcome they are actually trying to rape her. Even if you look at the choreography for both of them, in Blue they are interacting with each other most of the time whereas in You're Welcome they are trying to grab her. I think You're Welcome makes JD killing them a lot more understandable and you are never supposed to understand or even slightly agree with JD
