I've seen this show live, & while I may have teared up a bit the 1st time I ever heard the recording of Heart of Stone, let me TELL you, the live performance of this song hits EVEN HARDER (Natalie Paris was Jane Seymour for the show I saw & oh my LORD she def went far above & beyond simply "doing the song/role justice" 🤯😍🥰), I quite literally had RIVERS of tears flowing down my face 😭😭💕💕

You can definitely hear the Adele inspiration in this song

Cecereads23

The heart of stone could be referenced to Jane’s heart being buried in Hampton court as Henry’s favourite palace he had her close

Resonating with a piece of media is a strong feeling, it is like it touches part of your heart you did not necessarily know could be touched. It's powerful yet it's scary, pretty much like the feeling described in this song if I may say. Also love how "mon cœur" just straight up became a recurring word in your daily vocabulary 🥰

all of these songs are so good; admittedly, the first time i listened to the album i listened to it all at once, and this song got… overshadowed, a bit, by a couple others (one in particular that you haven’t gotten to yet). but this is also the one song that i appreciate more *every single time* i listen to it, and it’s ended up being one of my favorites 😊

I cry anytime I hear a song about a parent's love for their child especially when it's a mom's eternal love for her children. It makes me think of my mom. I'm grateful I have my mom & that she loves me no matter what. Make sure yall tell your loved ones you love them just as strong as stone 💕 And you feeling connected with a piece of media or fiction is normal! It's why you feel so close to Polites it's because you see a piece of you in them or something you like in them. It's wonderful you've found peace in so many things! Never apologize for feeling or crying! It's brave to be kind so be proud of your big heart!

Exactly, I tear up near the end everytime. And yeah, anytime pols pops up post survive(visual or audio) I automatically tear up🤷 says a lot when media can touch one so deeply

Phoenix_mercury

Ooh hadn't heard of that interpretation before

This is where my useless Tudor knowledge comes in handy

That was my experience too! I guess I also got caught up in the “girl power” songs (one not yet reacted to was and still is my favorite), so this slower song was one of my skips… not to say I hated it, it’s always been amazing, but it was my least favorite of the bunch. But seeing the animatic, and my mom getting me more into Adele, who was a big inspiration for Jane’s style, I now struggle not to cry every time listening to this because it’s SO beautiful. God bless Mortius and Casper for getting me back into this musical and making me realize what a beautiful emotional banger this is 😭

Incredibly emotional song - so perfectly delivered. I also love the piano soundscape. I feel that this song illustrates how a woman’s love for a man is transferred into love for their children. Enjoy your well-deserved vacation.

This has always been my favorite song from Six--maybe because it was the first I heard, maybe the style, maybe because its just one that feels good for my voice to sing along with (until those big end notes--that's not happening from me), maybe its the emotions. Probably its all of them, but yeah, this is and probably always will be my favorite song in a show full of amazing songs. Next one's quite a bit of tonal whiplash, so it may be a good thing there's several weeks between your reactions to them. (if memory serves, it ended up working out that way for Mortius, too...)

I’ve always loved Heart Of Stone 100%, it’s way more interesting and different than your upbeat girl power songs that involve them with their independent music. And the Live version you hear on their Spotify where Abby Mueller plays Jane is AMAZINGF😭 her vocals make me cry Everytime I listen to it

Lauren Hedman

Natalie Paris is who plays Jane Seymour in the cast recording. I’m pretty sure that’s who sings this one

where is Ernest I was promised more Ernest

It's a beautiful song but i've always had beef with how it's portraying Jayne Seymour. It feels like it's ignoring all of her actual choices and instead centering her entire characterization around something she had no control over herself - birthing a boy(as opposed to a girl)and then dying. And going out on that success (birthing a boy, not something she could control) leaving Henry with a positive enough impression that he actually treated her memory with care. All of these things had nothing to do with who she actually was as a person. How she ended up married to Henry. Bc she basically copied Anne boelyn and used the exact same methods to seduce an already annoyed with Anne Henry away from Anne. And then when she'd married him she stopped being active because he basically threatened to have her beheaded just like Anne if she annoyed him. Does not sound like true love in either direction to me

I listen to this song all the time and am fine, but I can't watch this animatic without tearing up at the end when all the film strips show her watching her son's life. It completely reframed the song for me like it did for you. The song itself didn't come across as being for her son towards the end, but that's the only way I can hear it now. Fun/not so fun fact: at the end when she hugs her son, you can see that he looks like a young teen. That's because he died at 15, so that last hug is them reuniting in the afterlife.
