Yes, today's drop is still happening at 4pm EDT - I figured any post titled "status" today might trigger some fear I was delaying. :D

This is just to give some status numbers, since I've seen this sort of thing discussed.

As of today, the Warlock 3 word count is 140,000, which was my target, but there's more yet to write and tweak. For reference, Book 2 was 141,000 and Book 1 was 136,000 -- so Book 3 will almost certainly be the longest of the three. Also, the word count of the first Harry Potter book (Year One) was 77,000, but the longest was Order of the Phoenix at 257,000 -- which means I've taken over five times the words to describe the first year and 1.5 times the longest of Rowling's. No, it's not a competition, but it's fun to know.

Well, your world is already more fleshed out than the Harry Potter world was in the first several books, so of course you have a higher wordcount. Plus, spellstick is way better.

6pm? I thought Sunday drops were at 4pm?

It’s 4 pm somewhere! Looking forward for the chapters!

Words cannot express my delight that W3 will be the longest of the books to date! As long as that does not delay the conclusion! My only fear is that we might not make it through all four years in just nine or ten books. As a side note, Daniel set a target of 10% sexy times by word count for this series. I understand that is a target, not a promise, but I am moved to remind him that he is running well below that level so far in W3. While I love everything he has put into W3 so far, I earnestly hope he plans to make up the difference!

More words, and a less toxic author - what's not to love!

Enjoying the series - Stats like these are fun but please don't let plans from the beginning control the series as it grows. Never opposed to longer books or more books. As long as the story is worth reading keep going.

Commenting on the title - you know what's most important in our hearts

Damn, content wise it feels like we're not even halfway into the book. Expected the summer break to be in book 3, but maybe it'll be a book on its own?

I agree with everyone else here, 150k+ words feels appropriate due to the amount of lore and world building you’re adding with Felicity, the Fae, Mel’s backstory, the Morrigan, Witch council politics, Priscilla, Cassandra etc. We haven’t even touched Morgan’s arc yet but that might be best suited for Book 4 because of how much lore surrounds it. Basically you can make Book 3 over 300k words if you want, if you continue to have brilliant, interesting ideas. Love your work :)

No disrespect but the Order of the Phoenix was a horrible mishmash that desperately needed to be properly edited and 30% shorter. Please don't use it as anything other that a cautionary tale.

How many words are we into the book after tonight's drop? It feels like it's been a lot, but maybe it's been much less than half of the 140k? Also I wasn't scared that you were cancelling tonight's drop, I was excited to wake up to a post, then mildly disappointed it wasn't a chapter.

I wonder, with the story developing as organically as it is and the length of time each book is compressing into, are we still looking at the 3 sets of 3 + 1 as originally envisioned?

I saw that Hannah and her sister were complaining about playing hide and seek with one of them being able to use hind sight and the other precognition. However, shouldn’t this have only happened after each turned 18? Since Brittany just turned 18, that didn’t give them much time for games. It’s an interesting tidbit but probably unlikely.

Really loving Noah’s journey, although I’m considering writing my own erotic fanfics about Mel and Noah
