Interesting way to learn the locations of teams and (I assume) the largest groups of witches.

Jon Fowler

What happened to the Nagas?

Parker Bond

Maybe they got relegated

Les

Not exactly a balanced schedule… I know they only play on Saturdays, but I wouldn’t want to play on the road (on the other side of the continent) for an entire month straight. That’s one heck of a road trip.

Jeffrey S. Nicholson

Goddess, I want to go back to my sports reporter days and cover this league. Season preview, fantasy spin, maybe pre-and postgame-day podcasts, a look at collegiate teams and the draft …

DreamerDon

Possible name change

Jeff Blickle

I see them in there - New York Nagas vs Toronto Selkies W1G2.

Jeff Blickle

Jackson hole is the surprise to me, that and nothing from NY to New Orleans on the east coast.

Jon Fowler

That's because some sneaky bugger changed the file. Look at the one in the email.

Now I have to go create a spreadsheet

Assuming that Rachael plays for the Banshees that is a lot of traveling

Robert Nugent

Why am I not surprised that Teton County Wyoming has a spell stick team.

Robert Nugent

I’m led to understand that they suck.

Jason McCaulley

that does beg the question though if it is Portland, Oregon or Portland, Maine, also isn't it kinda ironic that both Portlands are close to both Salems.

Dutch Palmer

The playoffs did not make sense.

Jason Wilcox

The 1 seed (best record) gets a ye the first week. And then plays the lowest remaining seed the next week. Basically the playoffs reseed based on who wins so that the highest seed always have the “easiest” matchup, record wise at least.

Speedy

I honestly am surprised that with only 8 teams in the league that 5 make the playoffs and that if seed 5 beats seed 2 then seeds 3 and 4 play each other 2 weeks in a row. Wouldn't it be better to have 4 teams make the playoffs with week 1 being 1v2 and 3v4, winner of 1v2 goes straight to final while loser plays winner of 3v4 the next week and the winner of that match also moves on to the final.

Bollywash

Really excited for spellstick and getting more into it. My only thing is I don’t want to see Rachel nerfing herself. I hope something happens where she can be honest about her resonants especially when she finds out her pain affinity. It would suck if she isn’t using it and then barely using any heart fires to keep it a secret. I’d rather she dominate lol

Jeffrey S. Nicholson

This playoff format isn’t fair. The first 3 vs. 4 game is irrelevant because the loser gets to play the next week anyway —it becomes a double-elimination tourney for that team but is single elimination for everyone else. You need six playoff teams to make this work. Seeds 1 and 2 get first-week byes. 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. In the semis, 1 plays the lower-seeded winner; 2 plays the higher-seeded winner. Those two winners square off in the final. But that means six of your eight teams make the playoffs. That’s a long regular season just to eliminate two of eight teams from playoff contention. You really need at least 10 teams to make this format work and keep the regular season meaningful. If you really want five, just have 4 vs. 5 as a “play-in” game. Winner gets the four seed. Then do a standard 4-team semis/final.

Ron Jarrell

The playoffs are weird. Just have an even number. 1 plays 4, 2 plays 3. Winners play for championship. I predict you’re gonna back yourself into a corner when you mention the team playing and the audience goes “wait - that means it’s been 6 weeks since the last chapter because that’s the next time those two play. And we skipped Beltane!”

Josh

Is this the first confirmation that the story takes place in NYC? It seems pretty obvious but I do not think it has been stated before.

omega_man

Being from UK, this doesn’t make much sense to me, especially with the back to front dates. I’ll come back to it when I work out how it fits in.

Speedy

In book 3 on the Rachael date they went to the Naga’s home game against the Banshee’s, pretty sure that was the first confirmation.

Josh

Well until this post the Naga's were not named as a NYC team. So what I was asking is this the first confirmation. While it seems obvious that the story takes place in NYC I do not think it has ever been stated. The city locations we have been provided are very generic, we have been told of Uptown, and the Aquarium. The closest indicator we have been directly given prior to the Nagas being a NYC team is that the city had a subway and you could take the train to both Boston and "Upstate" and Mel says Felicity shouted into everyone in "New England" minds.

Marc Petrick

One Canadian team? One. Because the Montreal Loup Garous were enhancing their performance with poutine and smoke meat sandwiches, which of course are magical, leading to a season suspension.

BryanL

in book 2 there named as the New Orleans Nymphs on the schedule here there the New Orleans Naiads
