“Raven talks blackface while in blackface”

Nolan Davis

This my realll skin colorrr

The Gorls The Podcast

No shade, I thought this was Raven Symoné until I saw the thumbnail. A little disappointed but I’m still gonna watch.

Enrico

Omg, so happy for Monét getting to talk to her idol 😭 (and PERCHED for the Blackface discussion 👀)

Love our queens of color ❤️❤️

Please let’s not confuse blackfishing with blackface. There are places still today where you are exposed to seeing white people in actual pitch black face paint, red lips, afro wigs and golden earrings acting out black stereotypes with racist accents and all from up f*cking close. Out in the public. For man woman and child to see. To throw the term out at random only lessens the severity of whenever this does take place.

Clint R.

Did she ask about her Grindr profile that once said “I prefer vanilla and spice. I’ll pass on the chocolate and rice … just a preference “?

Croissantia

Can you do a sibling Rivalry on this interview please.. 🥺 or Monet some kind of "after the chat" show? This blackface segment is cringy. Cause this here is a whole a$$ other show by itself. (In my hood voice) WHERE BOB AT? 🧐

Vanessa

lol got the email and ran to these comments

Jonny C

Monet, I wish you would’ve pushed back on some of the bullshit she was saying. You just sat there kiki’ng and laughing while she was playing in your face.. Yikes!

Grace H.

The Bob hate…”I don’t see it! I was rooting for Naomi!” Why can’t you appreciate both of them like what in the actual fuck why do you have to dog walk one which happens to be the incredible Bob the Drag Queen? And Monet was just like…laughing

Mimi

I can't believe I'm going into 2025 as a bobblehead... I think my issue is that Monet (and Bob) is often vocally passionate and critical about others' lapses in political/moral judgment, but here she goes kiki-ing with a white person who consciously tries to appear like a person of colour. The math is sadly not mathing for me.

toy_soldier32

Fun interview. The blackface comments are just boring now Raven ain’t tryna hurt nobody get over it. What’s a wild take is like 8+ years ago the queen would lie about their career and cry cuz nobody wants to be with a dragqueen now the boys are loving the queens and now their like “ oo did u say my catch phrase gross” “ o u wanna know about drag? Ew gross” lol like what?!?

Croissantia

CRUNCH O' DA DAY: .."Lemme tell you about tanning... " I'm a bobblehead for life love some Monét too but BAAABEEE!

Tanner M

We have suffered enough. The monetion needs some rest. I’m migrating over to Bobblehead land

Tyron Webster

i’m leaving moneation… i am now a bobblehead

Tyron Webster

Bob should’ve been there for this interview i feel we would’ve got more. Raven ‘tanning’ had upset and effected so many people and this interview could have been a great conversation about an important topic, this is just give ki 😭

Eric K

anyways…. Who else knew exactly what tooth stones Monet was asking raven about because of this weeks sibling rivalry 😭😭🤣🤣

Breezey breeze

Yall are miserable trying to tear monet down for being neutral and not giving in to your bs she asked the questions and cleared the confusion. Tanning does not equate to blackface- you guys really just diminish the meaning of such severe words when you throw them around like that 🍏 great interview Monet keep it up and keep being unbiased

SA Hall

I will not be watching this one. Seen some pretty gaslighty comments here so lemme just say - if you are offended by Raven's extreme tanning, you are completely justified in your feelings! Bob and Monet are allowed to give her a pass in their books, but that does not delegitimize your feelings if she doesn't get a pass for you. Nothing more annoying than people trying to shame others for caring about something...

arcadia

I'm neither American nor Black, so Idk how to feel about people's reaction to this episode, since it is kinda none of my business? but I do have to say I find Raven's tanning choices bizarre, ngl. Like, you can tell it's excessive tanning, and it looks so off-putting, even with the gorgeous makeup skills she has.

Branden Stubbs

Love love love this episode so much 10/10

AliHa

Love Raven

frooity

monet is clearly a people pleaser, he tends to be more neutral or trying to relate with his guests/friends (except with bob LMAO). Idk i just feel like there is way more conversation can be done or said from monet regarding the blackface/fishing thing which we would LOVE to hear.

Ahmed

Hmmmm. I get what raven’s trying to say (“I should be allowed to tan and it not be considered blackface, esp if there is no malicious intent”), but the justification given was very delulu and poorly explained. Your few friends (and matter of fact, your intent) do not dictate public perception. You are overly tanned mama, literally to the point of being just a few shades lighter than Monet. Intent does not absolve you of the impact of your actions. As for Monet not pushing back, um, DUH? Why would she? For brownie points on the internet? This is her colleague and friend, and she wants to have this space be safe for her guests to speak their mind. I really don’t think Bob would’ve been this guard dog everyone is pretending he is. Yes, maybe would’ve pushed back a little and challenged Raven, but don’t think he would’ve dragged her like people want him to. Great interview Monet!!!

Marquise B

Oh she’s very weird for this take

Sarah Courtney

I'm really torn on this one because I do understand people's concerns. There are a lot of people who can tan all they want, but their genetics don't enable them to get this dark. If you're fair skinned with a pinky undertone, there's no way you could ever tan and be that dark. Therefore, Raven's genetic makeup obviously enables her to do so... I'm honestly more concerned about the incredibly high risk of skin cancer that Raven has from all this tanning. The statistics alone scared me enough to stop tanning in my 20s. This might be more of a self esteem issue. When I was in my early 20s, I thought I looked disgusting without a tan. Since healing that relationship with my body, I no longer care. Perhaps there's some deep hidden self esteem stuff going on? Not sure.

Nick

Not Raven essentially saying “I don’t do blackface but if I DID, I would go way darker”. Obviously my thoughts on the issue don’t matter because I’m not a POC but that sentence was truly wild 😭

merchdatslilj

I was waiting on her to say her friends said its ok to like vanilla and spice and leave the chocolate and rice,

merchdatslilj

Next thing you know her friend gonna be like its ok for you to give me all your money and leave

Squisha

The conversation is missing the context of race and beauty politics in the US. White women who adopt presentation styles associated with blackness are considered beautiful (see Kardashian modified lips, butts, hair, etc). Meanwhile Black women with these features are considered undesirable and unprofessional (“ghetto”, “ratchet”, policing black hairstyles in schools, military, workplaces, etc.). That part is the problem. The same things are interpreted and valued differently based on race. It’s known as blackophilia/blackophobia. We love Black aesthetics and culture but we fear/hate Black people themselves.

isaiah

raven they could never make me hate you

Simily 🍒

As an Australian who has already had skin cancer on her face at 28 listening to Ravens tanning scares the hell out of me
