i was surprised to hear bob mention the chicago hit and run from last year. i knew jaylen, one of the victims. we worked together for my last two years in college. he was such a chill guy. so easy to be around and talk with, he had a lowkey kind of humor. he was so secure in himself and his expression. i remember one distinct conversation about him getting a manicures because it made his nails look better. i think he went with his girlfriend at the time, which made me so happy hearing. he never gave a shit about people thinking he was gay/weird because his three closest friends at the time were girls. he said those people were the weird ones. he had such a good smile and good attitude. he had so many things going for him in our university and following his graduation (we were a year apart). i couldn't believe it when i first heard the news. we weren't close beyond work buddies, but the camaraderie of those two years was still there for me. unbelievable his life ended so short, all of those boys. i don't really know why i shared all that. but what bob said is right. you really just don't know what can happen, you don't know what people are planning, what they will do at the drop of a hat. you just don't know.

Bob, you said "I'm not old, so I don't have any shame about the year I was born." - I ask, would you have shame about the year you were born if you were considered "old"? I quote Dr. McCoy in Star Trek: The Next Generation: " " McCoy : What about my age? Data : Sorry, sir, if that subject troubles you. McCoy : Troubles me? What's so damned troublesome about not having died?"
