Hey friends, Sorry for the quietness! This months been mega busy because of the Holidays + balancing work, commissions social obligations and the album!

Despite that I've been picking at this tune from last year just a bit more! I swapped out some instruments, changed the arrangements / composition and mastered it differently! I also added some samples from this somewhat obscure Youtube video!

I've included 3 different versions below, I'm leaning towards versions 8 or 8.5 right now, but please let me know which you all prefer <3 ( I thought bringing back some of the melodies from the earlier parts would make them more impactful / create a more cohesive experience!)

This song has probably been the hardest to work on for this album, but I feel like it really epitomizes the sonic identity of ONLY FANS LP – Drum N Bass, Bombastic / blown out bass + Guitars and chirpy synths from 2009!

Working with such LARGE sounds and making them sound clean without losing their edge has been a HUGE exercise in audio engineering, but I think I've finally struck a good balance here! I hope you enjoy this 2009 NEWGROUNDS TYPE BEAT / Cringecore tune

EDIT: I changed the default version to render 8 because I kinda prefer it! Still let me know which you like more though <3

I did some A/B listening and 8.5 is my favorite from a mastering perspective but honestly, it's really really close with 8, I hear a bit wider imaging on more busy parts which I like, and it could just be me, but I think it offers a bit more detail than both the previous renders. The overall sound design is really impressive, you weren't lying about striking a good balance with cleanliness and edge. I still can't make up my mind on the chorus after 1:17, 8 and 8.5 both slap incredibly hard but just differently. The extra bit-crushing on 8.5s transitions works well and it's just me but I did really like the drum fill at 1:16 on the 7th render, the body of the kick just hits so well. I hope this short ramble makes any sort of sense lol

Hey thank you so much for such an in depth write up <3 I really appreciate stuff like this, and definitely take it into account! (Also I'm glad you like the sound design uwu) I think I'm currently leaning towards 8's drop because it kinda allows the rave timbres to shine ( i feel like 8,5 might be a little too busy with the guitar!) What are your thoughts on the youtube samples in the second half of the song? Should they be adjusted, trimmed or removed?

On a second listen, or at least on my new monitors, I definitely agree with your sentiment on the drop, the guitar on 8.5 pushes the rest of the mix back a bit too much when it hits, that and it just melds with the rest of the song better imo. I wouldn't change anything about the youtube samples at the end though, I think they fit pretty well throughout! but that's just my two cents.
