I’ll try to explain his name change . His name in Japanese is written as Kimura Tatsuya (木村達也), and he did retire. Kimura’s first name is Tatsuya, originally written in kanji as "達也," but now he writes it in katakana as "タツヤ." So, he retired as 木村達也 but came back as a new boxer with the same name, just written differently. Now, he is 木村タツヤ instead of 木村達也. He probably did this to give himself a fresh start and restart his boxing career. It probably won’t make sense from the English language point of view since we just use one lettering system as opposed to Japanese which has 3 (hiragana, Katakana, and kanji) My guess for the English equivalent would be something like him changing his name from tatsuya to tatsuyah in English lol

Laxzone

Yeah that’s mad confusing but I get it now so appreciate it. Just glad my boy came back.

Are you going to do a poll for another anime in place of ippo or are you going to finish some of the other anime first?

Laxzone

I need to knock out frieren and mashle before adding anything else but there will be a poll.

I respect your morals, but I don't get it in this particular case. How is it wrong to watch season 2 from pirate webs if literally there is no other way of watching it? You're priving yourself from a fantastic ride just when you're most enjoying it. I'm sure you're not gonna change your mind but I really hope you do man >_<

Favorite ippo movie/episode of all time

Laxzone

I don’t think it’s wrong. It’s just not something I want to do. I watch multiple other series but people only tap into Ippo so they want me to go against my morals to please them. Not saying that’s you but it’s just how it is. I will check out season 2 but there is no date of when that will happen at the moment.

Kimura is my fave secondary character at Kamogawa's. I loved seeing him put in the hard work and skill in the ring this time around.

Not a bad choice to cool your jets with Ippo for now. You blazed through some serious quality anime and it left you weeping manly tears. Gotta let it sit and digest! lol. Can we ask what about this series really sat well with you? Was it a character? A particular story arc? Btw looking forward to more of your Peaky Blinders!

Laxzone

This goes for any series but if a sports anime can make me care for more than just the MC I’m sold. A soundtrack that knows how to trigger the right emotions at the right time is also a must for me and Ippo did it well. Character’s training to get better and not just being good is also a quality I appreciated with this series so far.

John Hannon

Truth. That struck me about the series as well. The “Power boost” any particular boxer got was the result of intense steady training and drills. LOTS of drills. The “Special Moves” were signature punches made famous by real world boxers and broken down to a level any layman can follow. Hajime no Ippo is a refreshing rarity in that regard. I’m so glad I subbed to your channel to see you go through this season. What a time! You’re gonna be digesting this series for a good while! If you ever get the hunger for the other seasons, just know the quality never wanes and it always delivers. Stay Gold Lax.
