So I've never seen the movie Akira and lately I've been bouncing around the idea of doing movie reactions for the last tier. I haven't committed to that just yet but it's looking like that may be what I finally decide. My question is which is preferred more SUB or DUB?

I haven't seen the movie either, but I voted sub purely because I'm someone who feels like series or movies are best watched in their original language as that's how they were meant to be watched Also a movie tier would be a fun idea!

I did some digging around before I watched the film & everyone had the same point which I think is worth saying here to you: Dubs in the 80s/90s were amazing. You will enjoy either just the same for Akira tbh. I personally would watch the dub to fully & properly appreciate the visuals

Fair point because there’s no question that I would always choose to watch Dub Yu Yu Hakusho over sub.

I watched most of my anime as a kid in the mid and late 90s in Dub and then switched to Sub. I say go Dub on this one.

Yea man ultimately I'd say make the final decision on your own. If you choose the dub though, you will have to decide between the 2001 or 1988 dub lmao. I'd go for the 2001, since it is more accurate to the original script. These are all opinions (besides the script part) but don't feel regretful choosing anything. No matter what you choose, someone somewhere will complain you didn't watch the other version LOL

The movie is GOATED! For my personal taste, I usually do SUB and after comparing it to the emotions wise for this anime alone, I'd have to go with SUB. (Not saying that DUB had no emotions.) Just saying as for me. Also LOVE THE REACTIONS! Been with the channel for 4 1/2 years!

Personally, I like watching movies and anime in their original language with subtitles, as it maintains the original voice acting and dialogue. This preserves the creators' intent and cultural nuances, and the original performances often convey emotions more authentically, allowing us to connect more deeply with the characters and story. However, there are also some good dubs available. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, I completely understand where you are coming from! The 90s dub has a unique charm, but it can definitely influence how we perceive the original. Ultimately, enjoying the experience is what matters most, so it might be best to go with what the poll says in the end.

The dub isn’t GREAT but it has its charm. It’s not bad by any means. The Akira dub came out in 1989 I believe so it’s the best they had at the time, I would say for a first watch do Sub but if you ever want to watch it again go Dub.
