I think the movie frozen bonds provides context into Emilia's past if you want an idea of the trials. People recommend you watch that before S2 You and Subaru seem to think Roswaal is putting a lot of blind faith in him... but I think Roswaal is lowkey hinting he's got good reason to believe Subaru will clutch up ( and technically Subaru has saved the day every single time without fail if you look at it from Roswaal's pov). imo if his goals are what he says they are he has no reason to be evil

Him having good reason to have faith in Subaru doesn’t change my thoughts about him right now. While I don’t think he’s evil I also don’t agree with how he’s moving with setting these events up. I’m really curious to see how this plays out though. I vaguely remember roswal saying his reasons for supporting Emilia but maybe refreshing my memory on that might help me understand his motives more.

I think the way they mean it is that when you enter the Sanctuary you have your soul, but when you try to leave your soul cant leave with you, so you turn into a husk, essentially a coma.
