So they actually never went into extra innings. The last run was at the very bottom of the 9th so it was a walk off win for Ichidai where they didnt need to get into the extra innings. Amahisa also never got taken out. He came off of that half of the inning and it was their turn at bat but they showed us that the coach was preparing a backup pitcher just in case. They never actually took him out. If they had, he cant come back into the game so I think coach wanted to see where Amahisa was mentally first. ALSO, the mangaka Terajima did say in a tweet that for the first 4 episodes, he had to be a little harsh on cutting things but it did break his heart because he absolutely loves Yakushi and this game was one of his absolute favourites. Im not sure if that means that from episode 5 and on there will be less cuts from the manga but I hope so. Im just thankful we got another season and we didn't get a movie or something but some of the manga content they kept out is a little disappointing.

Appreciate you clearing that up for me. Im just going to enjoy this season as much as I can because who knows when we’ll get another one.

I think thats the best thing you can do. Not to worry about whats being left out or not. The manga is always there if you want to read the games in full but I think theyre doing great so far. Id hate to spend the next however long being negative about a show I love so much lol. Just thankful we got another season 🙏🏻

I love how calm Sanada was at the end. When they lost to Seido in the season 2 finals he was very much the one that took it the hardest on the field. Seeing him focus on Raichi at the very end of his Highschool playing career was sweet. I do feel like with the pacing we're losing how season 1 summer tournament felt where it was very much in your face that this game was the end for an entire teams third years, but I'm still loving every second of tis show. Also definitely a very big Kosei fan.

Laxzone

Yeah I don't give Sanada enough credit. I agree the pacing definitely messed with me this episode simply because I didn't feel that pressure of this being the end for the third years.

I'm pretty sure after this the anime wont have as many cuts so its no biggie! Plus we can always fill you in if they miss out some things. I think for this game Raichi did have an internal dialogue about how this game felt worse because he felt like he let Sanada down. This was really the first time Yakushi lost because of Raichi (I hate to say that but I want to express his emotions) instead of in the past it being because the team couldn't keep up with HIM. It's sort of a callback to last season when Raichi was the one not crying and looking ahead to the future, while this time he is the one who needs to be picked up. It's definitely a moment of growth for him :(

yeah, hopefully you’re right about there being less cuts! this is from the manga author: “Episode 4 is finished. Thank you so much. This is as far as I helped out with the storyboarding! From here on, it should proceed almost exactly as in the original work. This was a decision to avoid making everything feel watered down.”
