You’re right about Meilli not being just an illusion. It’s been awhile since I read it but I think in the novel they explained it as her consciousness also being inside him since he read her book of the dead during this loop? The anime skipped that part I believe? Love the discussion at the end

This loop was one of the most insane ones i've seen. Shaula done turned into a beetle. julius getting jumped by mabeasts and then fighting reid. Anastasia and beatrice pretty much getting killed by shaulas blast. I think this is the first loop where Emilia interacted with Satella in a way by breaking subaru out of her shadow hands cause shes usually mia when she pops up. and yea this was the first time Emilia ever confessed her love for subaru. I think emilia accepted that they were both about to die especially after hearing subaru say ana and beatrice both died so she just wanted to spend her last moments with the one she loved helping him. im pretty sure he dosen't have his memories back yet hes just locked in now and understands why they all like him so now his goal is to help them get through this tower. Apparently, that shadow hole they fell in just before they died is just artistic direction they both hit the tower floor and died.(The smoke that was surrounding them is Satella's it appears whenever she appears). satella and Emilia have some connection we dont know yet in the same way subaru has some sort of connection to flugel, but considering satella has killed emilia in a previous timeline they exist separately.

Glad you enjoyed the discussion. I’m still trying to make sense of what all went down in this episode.

Ok I was wondering how he had a return by death. I definitely remember the moment you’re talking about when Satella bodied Emilia. I don’t believe they’re the same but definitely connected in some way. There’s a lot of connections apparently. I’m just enjoying the confusion right now.

We have to wait 1 month and a half for the next section of the season… btw I guess the last return by death was cause by Stella right? Is like what she did in the sanctuary , flooded the whole village and Garfield ,everything falled into the dark pool.
