This medium is definitely going to take some getting used to. 😅Not having an undo button like I do in digital work is very humbling, but I know that it will get easier with practice. The good news is that I don't hate any of these, so that's something! However I do find getting the opaqueness I want and mixing the right colors has been the most frustrating part so far, but since I have very little experience in traditional mediums I was expecting that.

These are all master studies, although I'm not sure who did the busts (I got the reference photo off of New Masters Academy) but the others are from Singer-Sargent and  Zorn!I also used watercolors to put down washes on two of them, especially on the woman in the red dress (by Sargent). I do feel like I need to stick to monochrome or greyscale palettes for a while until I get comfortable, because jumping right into color on an unfamiliar medium is kind of overwhelming right now.

I plan to get a tube of gold gouache for when I start doing my own pieces, but I think for now I'm  going to stick to studies. Maybe at some point I can offer originals to sell or even commissions! We'll see where this takes me.
