Title: Piano Melody Like Snow

As time passed, more and more people flocked to the gymnasium.

Perhaps the Publicity Department’s efforts bore fruit, or maybe because it was nearing noon, some who had bought snacks wanted a place to watch performances while eating lunch.

After the rakugo club (comedy storytelling) performance ended, Sora put away her game console. She looked up and scanned around. The seats nearby were packed with heads, as if the air density in the entire gymnasium had suddenly increased.

In the interval between performances, whispers of anticipation could be heard uncontrollably.

“I heard Tenkuji-san is performing?”

“Didn’t you see the poster at the door? Someone wrote on the forum too. Since the hip-hop club suddenly couldn’t perform, the Cultural Festival committee asked Tenkuji-san to help...”

“Praise the hip-hop club! Can we hear piano melodies like at the autumn exhibition again?”

“Apparently after that video spread, a music university professor came looking for Tenkuji-san, saying he could guarantee admission to a music university... But he turned it down.”

“True or false? Such a great opportunity... Ah, but with Tenkuji-san’s grades, he could easily get into Tokyo University; he probably doesn’t need a music university guarantee.”

“When does the performance start? I can’t wait.”

“Soon, the next one.”

Though surrounded by the bustling crowd, Sora felt no discomfort at all right now.

Undoubtedly, it was all thanks to the voices talking about her brother.

The satisfaction and pride filling her heart were hard to describe in words. Sora tried hard not to boast and show an arrogant expression: “Yuu is my brother; how about it, jealous?”

Hearing strangers praise her brother was far more enjoyable than hearing him brag at home!

(Is this the feeling of relatives basking in someone’s success?... Hmm, something seems off.)

“Sora-chan, did Yuu really turn down a music university admission guarantee?”

Mama Yuigahama beside her suddenly turned curiously. Saori next to her also looked at her.

Sora cleared her throat to dispel nervousness, then adjusted her upright sitting posture and said casually: “Yes, though he only mentioned it to me... Well, anyway, Yuu can get into any university he wants; he doesn’t need guarantees from others at all. It’d be weird if he accepted.”

Mama Yuigahama narrowed her eyes. She smiled gently and teased: “Hmm~ Having such an amazing big brother, Sora-chan is so lucky.”

Sora twirled the ends of her loose hair over her shoulder. She lifted her chin slightly and continued casually: “Nothing special. Yuu should feel lucky to have a little sister like me.”

Mama Yuigahama held back laughter. Her gaze toward her was full of gentle tolerance, like watching a ten-year-old standing akimbo, proudly declaring their parents were superheroes.

“But Sora-chan, there’s one thing you’re wrong about~”

Sora was startled for a moment. Her gaze shifted from the ceiling to Mama Yuigahama’s youthful, cheerful smiling face like a teenage girl.

“What?”

“You said Yuu can get into any university, right? Hmph, I disagree!”

Mama Yuigahama raised one finger with a mischievous satisfied expression: “Why? Because—he can’t get into a women’s university!”

“...” Sora blinked. Then she countered with a strange expression, “Isn’t that obvious? Besides, even if they don’t accept him, he could still enter as a teaching assistant or professor, right? Just needs a bit more time.”

“Ugh, true...” Mama Yuigahama lowered her head in frustration, looking defeated. Yuigahama on the other side couldn’t help covering her face and sighing.

Why was her own mother so childish! Why couldn’t she be a graceful, mature, cultured housewife like Yukino’s mom!

“He’s gained such widespread recognition from those around him. His abilities must truly be extraordinary.”

Saori nodded lightly. While commenting, she covered her slightly curved lips with an open fan and asked casually:

“Being this popular, he must be very liked by the girls at school, right?”

“Of course!” Mama Yuigahama, instantly revived, clapped her hands. Her face full of gossip excitement, “He’s handsome and can play piano. Someone like this is a teenage girl killer in our era. I heard he gets asked on dates and confessed to every day. Did Yuu ever go through that phase?”

“!”

At that moment, the dango on Yuigahama’s head nearly jumped. Cold sweat trickled from her forehead. Her whole body tensed like facing a great enemy.

Danger signal!

If this topic continued, someone would surely say first: “But he’s dating my daughter, so it’s fine.” followed by “Eh? Isn’t he with my daughter... No, he’s with my daughter...” After a brief silence, chaos would fully erupt!

For Yuu’s sake, she had to change the topic immediately!

“Uh, um...”

“I don’t know. Maybe he doesn’t care about such things at all and is too lazy to tell me when he gets home?” But just as Yuigahama opened her mouth, Sora said flatly, then pointed to the stage where the curtain hadn’t opened yet.

“Rather than that, Yuu is going on stage.”

As soon as those words were said, as lights illuminated the stage, the red theater curtain slowly rose, accompanied by the host’s gentle voice:

“Thank you to the Rakugo Club for their funny and philosophical performance. And next, his piano melody made that autumn drenched in warm spring drizzle. The performance that once touched all teachers and students at school returns after one season. What beauty will it bring us this winter...”

No need for reminders; thunderous applause erupted. The audience held their breath in unison, pushing the atmosphere to a climax, making the stage the center of hope.

Taking advantage of everyone’s attention on the stage with only one piano, Yuigahama clapped along with the mood while lowering her head and whispering into Sora’s ear:

“Sora-chan, good job! My reaction was slow, so it might not help. Next, you’re the main attacker! I’ll support from the side!”

“Hmph, no need to say it.” Sora didn’t look at her, just snorted softly, “Leave protecting Yuu to me. You guys being useless is fine, just don’t get in my way.”

“Understood!” Yuigahama replied with a smile, ignoring her haughty tone.

At that moment, a handsome young man emerged from backstage and walked to the center of the stage where light gathered.

Like the moon pulling the tide, the applause that had briefly subsided roared again like massive waves.

He didn’t take the microphone, just bowed casually to the audience as in the past. Then he sat at the pitch-black piano, opened the lid, and stretched his slender, clearly jointed fingers.

He was no different from other students, wearing only the unremarkable Western-style Sōbu High school uniform.

Yet his upright posture, long arms and legs, indifferent expression, and solemn aura were like an expensive tuxedo clinging to his body. In an instant, it felt as if they had come to a national music hall—

And the one on stage was undoubtedly a national-level pianist.

“Born from ordinary people, never receiving any arts education, yet possessing such an aura...”

Ripples stirred in her heart. Her beautiful eyes shone. Saori looked up at the person on stage. An intrigued smile always hung at the corner of her lips, gradually deepening.

In terms of appearance, Yuu was an extremely handsome young man. His gestures alone could make girls fall; in aura, he was clean and calm, confident yet restrained. Nothing unlikeable; in talent, his academics surpassed her daughter’s, and piano supposedly wasn’t even his best skill; in popularity, the earlier discussion buzz proved everything.

His family background was ordinary, but someone like this could build his own family wealth. Marrying equally would be a waste for him.

As for the most important character, Saori trusted Yukino not to like someone polite on the surface but evil inside.

A flawless all-rounder perfect young man like this—Saori was seeing one in person for the first time after living xx years.

Except not being a Yukinoshita, Yuu felt almost defect-free—as long as his feelings for Yukino were deep enough, even if they lived together first, Saori might close an eye and urge engagement.

Of course, all this could be decided after personally talking and testing Yuu.

“Though I’m satisfied, can Yukino handle someone like this...”

Recalling her little daughter’s slightly awkward nature, Saori held her cheek, unable to help worrying: “I need to teach her some husband-taming tricks later. After all, the smarter a man, the harder to detect real cheating. Yukino, in her first relationship, would easily be fooled and lose direction...”

If Yukino were as cunning as Haruno, sly, and used to toying with men, she wouldn’t worry too much.

...Wait, wrong.

Haruno didn’t seem too smooth either. In love, both daughters were novices. The type that once truly in love, easily toyed with by high-level men!

She couldn’t help frowning her delicate brows. While thinking, Saori quietly made a decision.

After this matter, she must hold a women-only Yukinoshita family meeting!

As a mother, her greatest hope was seeing her daughters live happily with those they love...

“—“

The flowing piano melody caressed her ears, pulling Saori’s thoughts back. She looked again at the handsome, calm pianist on stage.

In the truly silent gymnasium, a clear and lonely melody slowly sounded. Note by note, from slow to fast, from stage to audience seats, gradually enveloping every listener’s body and mind.

Falling like snow.

Since it was a solo, every note transition was crystal clear. The melody was firm, containing no softness, chillingly piercing to the bone. Listening too long even made one unconsciously glance at the door, as if a blizzard suddenly raged outside, filling every corner of the gymnasium with cold, harsh air.

Yet no one wanted to escape. Instead, everyone sharpened their ears to listen carefully. Even shivering while hugging arms, they didn’t want to miss every falling snowflake.

Besides coldness, something else seemed to envelop the piano melody.

Snow kept falling, slowly covering ankles. Sitting still felt like becoming a snowman. Exhaled breath produced white smoke.

But soon after, he suddenly slowed the rhythm. His fingers entwined the black and white keys, as if the snow finally stopped.

A hazy, gray sky. The world cloaked in pure silver. Unchanged were the thick snow and freezing air.

Yuu suddenly stopped.

The entire world fell silent. Everyone seemed pulled to a higher viewpoint at that moment, holding breath, gazing at the quiet, cold white snow landscape.

Then a light, spirited melody drew them to the next stage.

Dark clouds around gradually dissipated. Sunlight began feeling warm on the ears.

Thus, snow started melting.

Initially stubborn, resisting, unwilling to change easily; yet the sun was always beside. Though shining quietly, the distancing cold unknowingly vanished, coloring the entire winter with melting snow hues.

Thawing rivers washed the earth. Wet streets reflected moist light. Snow fell from branches. Plum blossoms under snow bloomed beautifully.

The ending was a peaceful, cheerful melody. It felt like outside was still cold, but hiding under a kotatsu listening to a hot pot boiling. The ordinary, happy feeling made one unconsciously relax, body swaying to the notes.

Winter hadn’t passed; snow had stopped falling.

Yet snow remained on ground, rivers, roads, roofs. Though losing its original cold, it stayed in every corner of this world.

Because of snow, sunlight had meaning to warm the entire winter.

As if whispering such sentiment, the final note fell clearly, echoing in the gymnasium, the resonance unending.

Yuu stood and closed the piano lid.

He bowed from the chest to the silent audience, then smiled brightly toward a spot in the seats. Without waiting for reaction, the handsome, graceful pianist turned and entered the backstage curtain.

Behind him, only thunderous applause lasting like thunder, filling the bright world after snow melted.

“Extraordinary piano skill plus sincere emotion. A unique melody as if created just for him...”

Saori stroked her chest. The echo of that heart vibration lingered in her mind. It felt more like enchantment than surprise.

She drew a deep breath to calm her emotions. She narrowed her eyes in enjoyment. She wanted to share feelings and comments with Mama Yuigahama beside her, but upon turning, helplessly gave up the idea.

Not everyone could grasp a song’s essence and artistry. Most just felt happy hearing it, not necessarily having deeper feelings—that was fine. Saori wouldn’t look down on others for it. Just different interests and hobbies, so she felt a bit disappointed.

“Whew, since we’ve finished listening to his performance~” After Mama Yuigahama finished clapping, she stood impatiently. Her graceful, mature face showed a cheerful smile, “Time to continue strolling the Cultural Festival with our Piano Prince! I want yakisoba~”

“Then we too...” Saori looked at Haruno.

Title: Senpai, Did You Bring People for a Parent-Teacher Meeting?

Though their conversation wasn’t too deep, Mama Yuigahama already knew the Yukinoshita mother and daughter’s goal was also Tenkuji Yuu.

As for the reason, perhaps because her daughter was in the same club as him?

Plus, Yukino was currently moving with Yuu, so they were meeting him while looking for their daughter... Very normal.

Of course, though other speculations existed in her heart, adults would choose to play dumb for now. They wouldn’t say it outright without proof.

After Yuu’s performance ended, the five rose from their seats, passing through the still somewhat excited and entranced audience, and headed backstage.

“Finally, it’s coming...”

Yuigahama looked at the backs of the two mothers. She wiped the cold sweat from her palms. Her incisors lightly bit her lower lip, creating pink and white shades.

Her heart grew more restless, but her steps showed no hesitation, like a new soldier stepping onto the battlefield for the first time.

There was only one thing she could do: prevent chaos from breaking out prematurely and keep the situation within Yuu’s predicted bounds—from the current situation, thankfully, she at least hadn’t disappointed his expectations.

Though she didn’t help much, her role wasn’t even as good as Sora’s, Yuigahama had self-awareness. She knew that with her IQ, not causing problems was a success.

At the same time, she believed Yuu could resolve all difficulties ahead; parents discovering an affair was no issue for him!

What was wrong with blind faith, what was wrong with only being a cheerleader.

This was Yuigahama’s way of loving.

No matter what happened in the future, Yuigahama would stand behind Yuu and be his support.

Just as he had supported her in the past.

◆━⊰✧⊱━◆

The gymnasium backstage wasn’t too quiet. Several people bustled in and out, some leaned against walls devouring food, others squatted on the floor adjusting equipment, working tirelessly like gears.

To avoid disturbing the hardworking staff, they dropped the idea of entering in a group to search and sent Sora ahead.

Soon after, Yuu emerged with Sora and Yukino.

Seeing the beautiful, graceful, elegant Saori, he was momentarily stunned in confusion, then showed a knowing expression and smiled politely at her.

“You must be Yukino’s mother, right? Pleased to meet you. I’m Tenkuji Yuu, in the same club as her.”

“Pleased to meet you. My daughter has been troubling you daily.” Saori closed her fan and smiled gently. Her wrinkle-free eye corners narrowed. She looked at Yuu meaningfully, “Sorry for not informing earlier. I mainly want to use this chance to chat properly with you. I hope it’s not inconvenient.”

“Of course not. If it’s just chatting time, I can always make room for you.”

Saying that, Yuu also met eyes with Haruno beside Saori.

<First meeting? Who kidnaps someone’s daughter in front of her mother on the first meeting.>—That slightly mocking gaze seemed to convey that meaning.

Yuu initially had no intention of minding it. More precisely, his mind was currently full of Yukino and Yuigahama. Besides Sora, he cared for no one.

But for some reason, perhaps a hidden instinct suddenly surfaced, or his brain temporarily lost function—in short, temporary brain paralysis—he tilted his head and said to Haruno:

“Haruno-san, long time no see. How have you been lately?”

“...” Haruno fell silent momentarily. Then, under her mother’s curious turning gaze, her lip corners twitched as if spasming. She laughed softly at him again, saying in a piercing tone.

“Me? Well, aside from failing to get the man I like, I’m pretty good.”

“Haruno, no need to say such things!”

Saori tapped Haruno’s arm in a reprimanding tone. At the same time, she wondered—this attitude, do they have a grudge?

Even if it was an enemy who stole her little sister’s boyfriend, no need to say this, right? It wasn’t like Haruno.

On the other side, Yukino also quietly tugged Yuu’s jacket hem, looking at him confusedly.

“It’s fine, I just suddenly went stupid for a bit...”

Yuu rubbed his temples and sighed shortly as if dizzy.

Regretting now was useless. He treated it as if nothing happened and alternately looked at the two mothers before him.

“Talking here will disturb others. If you don’t mind, how about I take you to my friend’s stall to rest a bit and have lunch? My treat.”

“We’ll follow the host.” Saori nodded gracefully.

As for Mama Yuigahama, she went with the flow like a carefree girl, laughing cheerfully while linking arms with her daughter, making it impossible to guess her thoughts.

With worried-faced Yukino, serious combat-ready Sora, Haruno shifting from annoyed to pensive, pretending-calm Yuigahama, and the youthful beautiful mothers, Yuu walked toward the school building.

No matter what chaos awaited ahead, at least... he couldn’t let other students hear their conversation.

◆━⊰✧⊱━◆

In the gymnasium, people came and went. Yet Asuna still sat stunned in her seat, unaware for a long time.

Her soul seemed trapped in the past by that piano solo. Even now, she couldn’t free herself, continuously searching for the key out.

Was it pleasant? Yes, pleasant.

Familiar? Yuu’s playing style was very familiar, but the song was utterly foreign.

Though it was such vivid, perfect piano music, more soul-shaking than any she’d heard before, for some reason, Asuna couldn’t immerse at all. In fact, the more she felt the emotions wrapped within, the worse the pain from her heart.

It was a song Yuu created for a girl.

Not created for her—from where it came, Asuna was certain. Then, she felt choked by sadness, guilt, and jealousy.

“As expected... That Kyoto trip wasn’t our first meeting...”

Struggling to snap from daze, Asuna bit her lip hard. Sharp, firm light reignited in her previously scattered pupils. Her nails pressed hard into her palms as she clenched fists.

There must be something.

Something she forgot.

Something that happened.

Something related to Yuu she shouldn’t forget, that did happen!

“...Wait for me. I’ll remember soon. Definitely.”

That unshakable voice fell softly in the air.

She wiped tears that had appeared unknowingly at her eye corners, drew a deep breath, and rose from the seat.

While dazed, those people had left. She didn’t know where they went or where Yuu was.

But before calling him, Asuna wanted to walk alone around school first. After calming her current feelings, she’d meet him in her most prepared, calmest state.

Behind her, two students gathered watching a phone screen. Occasional excited shouts came from their mouths.

“You recorded it? So good to hear, seriously! First time hearing someone play piano till I almost cry...”

“First time? Weren’t you at the autumn exhibition?”

“Hmm? I was absent that day...”

“Here here here. Our fan club edited that performance into the best version. Just as good as this one, equally pleasant! ...By the way, that last song, Tenkuji-san named it Haru Ame (Spring Rain). Wonder what this one’s called.”

“Named? Meaning both are his originals? So strong?!”

“Why surprised? Tenkiji-sama is omnipotent! Anyway, calm down. I’ll play it without headphones for you...”

Then, piano melody carrying nature’s revival like spring’s arrival sounded. Nearby people hearing it couldn’t help turning, showing enjoying expressions.

But Asuna had already walked away, leaving the gymnasium alone.

◆━⊰✧⊱━◆

First-years were on the first floor. With six women behind him—including the world’s cutest little sister, beautiful girl, beautiful college student, and beautiful moms—Yuu drew attention all the way, heading straight to Class 1-A where Iroha and Kanade were.

En route, he opened the system panel again to confirm the status skill recently gained from Yukino.

「Earless Wall」: Select an area centered on self. Within range, all host-related conversations and actions won’t attract others’ attention nor be recorded in any known form.

In short, a group version of 「You Can’t See Me」 that once helped him sneak into a vacation resort. Perfect for sitting, eating, chatting, and revealing his affair to mothers-in-law.

Honestly, Yuu had more than once suspected this damn system gave rewards based on situations—sneak skill when needing to find someone at a resort, targeted secrecy status when not wanting outsiders to hear talks. Service quality was outstanding, more attentive than being spoon-fed.

Yet this attentive system, step by step, pushed him into desperate struggles among various women.

(System, are you here to hurt or help me?) Yuu sighed inwardly, closing the panel.

Of course, the system fell silent like playing dead.

As if mistaking his disturbance for the upcoming talk, Yukino unconsciously leaned her shoulder on Yuu and whispered firmly:

“Don’t worry, I’m here!”

If not fearing detection, she’d surely hold his hand now, wanting to calm him.

Yuu shook his head. He didn’t explain, just using eyes to tell her not to worry.

Class 1-A soon arrived. Though peak lunch rush, not many queued outside the door. They quickly got their turn to enter.

“Welcome!—Wait, why is Senpai here!”

Just shouting sweetly like that, Iroha’s face immediately changed. She stared with a dissatisfied expression—mocking or embarrassed. Her clear, moist pink lips pouted, indescribably cute.

“Why? Didn’t you tell me to come see your business if I had time?”

Yuu crossed arms over chest. He observed her outfit condescendingly, then nodded reluctantly: “Well, decent, but maid uniform is still better.”

“Clearly super fitting, you know! Perverted Senpai, maid maniac!” Iroha stood akimbo at her cinched tuxedo waist, grinning at him, but not as angry as it seemed.

“I did tell you to come, but why at the busiest time! Like this, I can’t slack off chatting with Senpai as excuse, then make Senpai treat me again, right? Stupid Senpai, insensitive!”

“Hey junior, too many sneaky ideas...” Yuu stared speechlessly. He almost didn’t know where to start complaining.

Due to some grand will not wanting juniors to benefit side characters, Class 1-A’s original maid cafe became an opposite butler cafe. Both men and women wore handsome, form-fitting butler suits. Though fully covered, appeal rivaled maid cafes.

Like Iroha before him. Shoulder-length ash-brown hair tied in a gallant ponytail. Slender white nape, tiny clear earlobes, plus somewhat tomboy outfit, but couldn’t hide her petite charming figure—though wanting to dress as handsome youth, her beautiful girl charm increased.

No wonder Iroha was at the door greeting customers. Her cool cute appearance plus mastered flirting attacks—even he might not resist and be pulled in to spend, right?

“...Senpai, can you stop staring?”

His attentive gaze lingered too long on her face. Iroha slightly puffed reddened cheeks, averting eyes awkwardly, muttering softly.

“If you accidentally fall for me, just say it frankly. I’ll hesitate a bit then reject you nicely.”

“...I don’t need rejection. I already have a girlfriend.”

Yuu turned casually, saying to Yukino left behind due to narrow door: “Yukino, right?”

“Huh? What did you say?” Yukino blinked slightly confused.

Due to the above conversation all under 「Earless Wall」 status—range limited to them two.

So neither Yuu-Iroha dialogue nor Iroha’s blushing expressions made very close Yukino notice anything odd. In fact, suddenly addressed, she felt very strange.

...How to say it, many extra uses, but Yuu tried hard not to think wildly, finally using this status to develop challenging playstyles.

Yes, only for revealing secrets to mothers-in-law.

Yuu drew a deep breath. Too lazy, he directly used 「Heart Calm as Mirror and Water」 to clear all disturbing brain thoughts. Simultaneously, he retracted 「Earless Wall」 scope.

“Nothing.” After saying to Yukino, he turned back to Iroha, “We’re seven. Enough seats?”

“Eh? Seven?”

Iroha blinked confusedly, then poked her head out the door.

Then, she froze with mouth open, muttering slightly stunned:

“Senpai... did you bring people for a parent-teacher meeting?”

-

Title: The Delayed Chaos (Part 1)

Appearing before Iroha, besides two female seniors, one little sister, and one older sister, were two moms who resembled their daughters so closely they could be recognized at a glance.

Following behind Yuu, they looked like a big family visiting the school. They stood out the most in the entire corridor!

How to put it...

The surprise gradually turned to admiration upon realizing the fact. Iroha currently had only one thought in her mind.

(Tenkuji-senpai is truly amazing!)

“Stop daydreaming; quickly show us our seats.”

Her forehead was flicked by Yuu. Iroha finally snapped back. Muttering “I know, I know~”

She slightly bowed her head in greeting to the group.

Then, she put on a business-like handsome smile. Placing one hand on her chest, the other swinging respectfully, she bowed slightly, maximizing the elegance of a young handsome butler.

“Master and ladies, perfect timing. The guests at our only large table just left. Please follow me.”

As the group entered following her lead, Mama Yuigahama still whispered excitedly: “First time at a cosplay cafe like this... So this is what it feels like to be called Miss? So fun!”

“Yeah, yeah~ Mom, I’ll take you to more places someday... Calm down for now!”

Inside Class 1-A was bustling. Butlers in suits moved busily between nearly full tables. Occasional shouts to the backstage. Though slightly chaotic, strangely no major issues arose, and operations ran smoothly overall.

Yuu scanned around. He vaguely saw a small silver-haired figure moving through the crowd. He wasn’t sure if Class A’s liveliness was thanks to that future student council president candidate.

They arrived at a long bench made from joined school desks in the back. After sitting in a circle—Yuu, Yuigahama, Sora, Mama Yuigahama, Saori, Haruno, Yukino—Iroha excused herself briefly.

“I need to stand at the door to attract customers right now. You can look at the menu first; another butler will come to take your orders.”

She glanced at Yuu. Though many questions in her heart, intuition warned that talking to him in this atmosphere was like sending herself to the battlefield. A smart girl wouldn’t do something that stupid.

After a polite bow, Iroha turned decisively, returning to the door, peeking at their movements from the corner of her eye.

“Don’t hold back. Order whatever you want, just don’t waste food.”

Only they remained around the table. Yuu pushed the menus forward, smiling casually.

“Of course, thanks for the treat~”

“By the way, first time eating at a high school cultural festival...”

Saying that, both moms simultaneously extended their white, soft, slender hands, taking both menus.

They didn’t choose long, handing them opposite—to Haruno and Sora.

As for why Sora wasn’t beside Yuu... it was Yuigahama’s silent request.

She didn’t explain clearly. Sora hesitated long before reluctantly agreeing to separate from her brother.

Receiving the menu from her mother, Haruno looked, then passed it to Yukino.

Yuigahama also received Sora’s passed menu.

Then, pure coincidence or silent agreement between the girls—after seeing the menu, they simultaneously reached toward Yuu—

“Tenkiji-kun...” “Here, Yuu-kun...”

Yukino and Yuigahama froze momentarily. After half-second eye contact, they simultaneously prepared to withdraw hands, letting the other pass the menu.

But before they could, the moms opposite spoke simultaneously.

“Wait, don’t move yet.”

“Such an interesting coincidence; we can’t just let it pass.”

Same calm tones, same gentle eyes.

But in both moms’ eyes, faint different-meaning lights flashed.

“Tenkiji-kun, whose menu will you take?”

Opening her fan to cover her lower face, Saori showed only intrigued smiling eyes: “Just a small test. Don’t overthink. Follow your heart.”

“Yes, Yuu-kun. Mom trusts you~” Mama Yuigahama touched her cheek, tilting her head slightly. Lips slightly pouted, pretending cute, “Though just a small test, between two girls, the answer should be clear, right?”

“...”

All other sounds truly vanished then.

Atmosphere suddenly tensed. Even breathing grew loud.

Yuu unconsciously held his breath. He felt like a criminal suddenly pulled from the crowd by detectives, awaiting fair judgment.

Though their attitudes weren’t aggressive, two direct gazes carried unavoidable momentum, piercing his face, carefully observing expression changes.

<If you truly like my daughter, no need to hesitate who to choose now>—the moms seemed to convey with smiles.

Honestly, he thought judgment would start after lunch.

Yuu didn’t expect the moms so impatient. Even before ordering, catching a slight opening, they wanted to test his stance.

Meaning he still held important position in the moms’ hearts? Otherwise, they wouldn’t rush him to side.

Self-mocking inwardly, Yuu maintained calm smile. He was about to puff chest and openly take both girls’ menus.

Hanging hands suddenly lowered, placing both menus on the table before him simultaneously, then withdrawing as if nothing happened.

The girls beside him broke the tense, stuffy air, simultaneously diverting the moms’ attention.

Saori slightly narrowed eyes. She shifted authoritative, pressuring gaze to her own daughter.

“Yukino, didn’t I say don’t move yet?”

“...” Her body slightly trembled. Yukino folded arms over chest. Gaze unconsciously to the floor.

But next moment, she suddenly bit her lip hard, fighting some instinct. Until lips paled from bite, she slowly raised her thousand-jin heavy face, staring stubbornly at her mother.

“I don’t understand the point of this. It’s just wasting time!”

Simultaneously, Mama Yuigahama looked confusedly at Yuigahama.

“Why? Afraid he won’t choose you?”

“Not that... Don’t you consider me and Yukinon’s feelings doing this?”

Yuigahama clenched fists on knees. She straightened back, staring calmly, seriously at her mother.

“We’re friends, not love rivals. Please don’t use boring small tests to affect our relationship!”

The no-joke voice fell heavily, settling in stunned silence.

Mama Yuigahama couldn’t help widening eyes, staring slightly shocked at her suddenly unfamiliar daughter.

After moments, she sighed, slightly guilty tone: “True. The urge to be mischievous was irresistible; I didn’t consider your feelings at all... Sorry, Yui.”

Saori also silent briefly. She glanced at Yukino. Long lashes slowly lowered: “...Indeed, acting alone on assumptions is truly unwise.”

“Sorry, pretend we said nothing earlier.”

She raised eyes again, smiling at Yuu. But her graceful, cultured deep-sea voice showed no clear emotional ups/downs.

“Let me treat this time. After all, Yukino growing bold enough to oppose her mother must be thanks to Tenkiji-kun.”

“...You overpraise.”

Emerging from shock expressionlessly, Yuu said little, answering flatly. Then, he tidied both menus as if nothing happened, holding them.

Atmosphere gradually peaceful. Though no one spoke proactively, no longer danger-filled as before.

Through Yuu, Yukino and Yuigahama eye-contacted again. They unconsciously sighed relief simultaneously, showing bitter smiles like disaster survivors.

(Yui, I’m impressed.)

(Yukino’s braver, okay!)

At least in this first hurdle, they successfully said what they wanted, protecting their lover.

Though knowing paper can’t wrap fire, this at best diverted attention and delayed truth revelation—it was better than nodding beside, unable to help, only watching him embarrassed under the moms’ attacks.

If Yuu planned cowardice, they might choose silence to death, fooling with ambiguous relationships.

But now, Yuu said he’d take responsibility, even ready to say he liked both before the moms, openly admitting he’s a cheater.

Then, what more could they do as girlfriends?

Yukino must stand before him, protecting his not-so-strong self.

Yuigahama must stand behind, supporting his easily toppled self.

Under the table, two hands secretly extended, tugging his jacket hem.

Feeling the force from the hem, Yuu slightly lowered head. Eyes seriously scanned menu contents, but lip corners unconsciously curved, showing a soft smile as if defeated by them.

(Sigh, you just need to watch my performance; why bother...)

(Do you really treat me like fragile glass? Where’s my male pride?)

(I can easily handle this chaos. Don’t underestimate me!)

Though warm, satisfied chest feelings slowly grew, Yuu couldn’t help inwardly complaining.

Then, after being treated like this.

Unable to help liking both—it was inevitable, right?

What’s wrong with unfaithfulness, playboy, outside judgment.

All less important than being with his girlfriends!

“Then, shall I call the butler to order?”

Placing menus, Yuu raised head. He faced opposite moms with high spirits, confidence.

Whether cheater’s war declaration or more complex meaning...

At least for now, no one knew.

Just as the sentence fell, before moms reacted, a snow-white figure appeared behind. Feather-soft words fell gently.

“Yuu-senpai, decided what to eat?”

“Hah?!”

Yuu startled. He unconsciously retracted 「Earless Wall」 status, turning.

Holding menu clipboard, Kanade stood expressionlessly behind. Silver hair tied in long gallant ponytail. Under butler suit, no chest curve. Plus unworldly transparent aura, more like disguised noble prince than handsome young butler.

Her soft voice and pure clear pale gold eyes as usual, staring with subtle confusion.

“What’s wrong? Need more time to think?”

“... Ahem, no, decided.”

Yuu ignored why Kanade naturally entered 「Earless Wall」 isolation area. Unsure if she just saw Yuigahama and Yukino simultaneously holding his jacket hem from behind.

Yuu held menu. Before telling her the just-decided dishes, he scanned her outfit top to bottom, praising smiling: “Tachibana, butler suit suits you... Or rather, left and right, no one handsomer than you.”

“Really?” Kanade blinked. Clipboard slightly covered lips. Eyes narrowed cat-like, showing honest joy color.

“Thank you, Yuu-senpai. Though everyone says so, I always felt they were just comforting me, always patting my head...”

“Not comfort. Be more confident!” Staring deeply into her eyes, Yuu gently encouraged, “You’re naturally beautiful. Basically, all styles suit you. I think try privately besides butler. Maybe find most fitting. For example...”

“Ahem ahem!”

Before finishing, two very clear, cold dry coughs from sides, full of supreme death penalty warning meaning.

“...For example, let’s order first.”

Forgetting to reactivate 「Earless Wall」, Yuu raised hand wiping cold sweat from dual-side cold glares. No daring to waste time, he quickly named dishes to Kanade.

“Okay.”

Not only strong memory, Kanade’s hand speed very fast.

Almost simultaneous with him finishing all dish names, she wrote the menu on clipboard, then accurately repeated to Yuu.

Her relaxed appearance somewhat like an AI girl.

After Kanade nimbly passed crowd and fairy-like figure vanished toward back kitchen, Yuu also withdrew gaze. He calmly faced the table with varied expressions—cold, disgusted, mocking, or raised brows—and ignored all. He only introduced to both moms:

“That’s our school’s future student council president candidate, and a junior I highly value... She often comes to my house to play with Yukino and Yui. Good relationship with my sister too.”

Though Kanade came only twice, and relationship with Sora only good when gaming.

But since no one contradicted, Yuu naturally wouldn’t bother explaining specifically.

“I see...”

As if seeing Yuu only had appreciation not love for Kanade, Saori lightly fanned. No intent to mind his junior affairs. She switched to calm peaceful tone, reopening topic:

“Tenkiji-kun, still time before food served. May I ask some questions?”

“Of course, go ahead.”

Yuu nodded, smiling generously. Simultaneously, he signaled eyes to both girls to relax, he could handle.

Simultaneously, Saori also glanced Mama Yuigahama, receiving prior friendly gaze.

“Then, first...”

Saori didn’t hesitate. She suddenly closed fan. Thin lip-corner smile vanished. She directly asked what she cared most now.

“That piano piece earlier, is it your original composition?”

-

Title: The Delayed Chaos (Part 2)

“Of course. I should say that all the songs I performed on stage were ones I created based on my feelings at the time.”

Yuu answered with an expression as if it were no big deal.

“Created on the spot...”

Murmuring in awe, Saori covered her full, soft lips with her fan. Her gaze gradually showed clear admiration.

“Tenkiji-kun, I’m sure you’re not exaggerating right now... Meaning, you can truly compose a piano piece in a short time with complete structure, precise rhythm, rich emotions, and no less than classical works?”

“You overpraise. It’s actually not that good.” Yuu coughed, slightly embarrassed by the other’s praise.

“My own piano playing skill is only average. Compared to professional experts, it can only be called ordinary... However, in conveying emotions through the instrument, I have a bit of confidence that doesn’t lose to anyone. This is the best aspect I can offer.”

Perhaps only Yukino could hear that only half of this man’s words were believable; the rest was humility or deliberately hiding his skill.

But she had no intention of exposing his disguise. She just silently shifted her gaze from her mother to her sister, secretly vigilant, preventing her sister from suddenly doing something strange.

“No need to be so humble. For the Yukinoshita family, talent—strong or weak—isn’t the standard to judge you. Attitude and behavior are what matter most.” In a gentle tone, Saori smiled at him, “I’ve seen geniuses called monsters like you, and I’ve seen children who abandon great talent to chase their dreams. Regardless of whether they succeed in the end, such existences are always admirable.”

“Yes, so I don’t plan to develop a professional career in piano in the future.” His attitude suddenly became more serious. Yuu took out his business card wallet from his pocket and pushed a card across the table.

“Though the scale isn’t large, I currently manage a network technology company. Since founding, we’ve completed many projects. This is the direction I’ll strive for in the future.”

He didn’t forget to give one to Mama Yuigahama. As he was about to put away the wallet, he felt a very friendly gaze from Haruno, so he was forced to give another.

“Tenkiji Network Technology... I’ll remember. Hope for future cooperation opportunities.”

After seeing the card, Saori stored it casually, as if unconcerned with his achievements. She continued questioning: “Let’s return to the music topic. Since it’s your original, have you thought of a title?”

Yuu was slightly puzzled: “Title? Not yet...”

“Then, no hesitation. Use the person you thought of while playing this song as the title.”

“...”

Enjoying his suddenly silent expression, Saori laughed softly as expected. She closed her fan and explained casually: “My artistic taste is quite good. I can hear this is a song you made for someone... Or rather, because your piano playing conveys emotions strong enough, even though it’s pure music without lyrics, I can still hear someone’s shadow in it, and your deep longing for her.”

Yuu’s expression was odd, and he still didn’t say a word.

“Still won’t admit it?”

Narrowing her eyes slightly, Saori suddenly turned, staring at the confused-looking Yukino: “Yukino, didn’t you hear it?”

“Hear what...”

Stunned momentarily, Yukino suddenly realized, unable to help staring in shock: “That song earlier, was it for me...”

“Alright, then let’s name it Winter Snow.”

Yuu shrugged. He looked into Saori’s eyes and answered: “Though not made specifically for Yukino, the overall tone of the song was composed based on my impression of her.”

“Hmm, my feeling was right.” Saori nodded satisfied, then sincerely praised, “A very beautiful song. No exaggeration to say it’s the world’s most sincere love confession.”

Yuu accepted the praise calmly.

“Anyway, why couldn’t Yukino-chan hear it?”

Beside, Haruno propped her cheek with one hand. Her amused gaze mixed with slight sourness scanned her sister top to bottom. She asked in a sarcastic tone:

“Mom and I both know that song was played for you, and you—the person involved, closest to the stage—didn’t notice at all?”

“B-because I was thinking about something then, and there were many things to do backstage...”

Rarely panicked, Yukino explained slightly sadly. After, she secretly glanced at Yuu. Her gradually blushing face lowered, uncomfortably touching her long hair by her cheek.

Then, she softly uttered: “...Thank you, I’m very happy.”

“Haa...”

Yuu also scratched his cheek. His heart itched a bit from her shy cute appearance, but he couldn’t do anything, so he could only hold back.

“You’re welcome. Anyway, it really wasn’t played specifically for you... Just thought of you while playing, and that’s how it came out.”

“Enough, stop!”

Long hair covered her reddened ears and cheek sides. Yukino pouted her soft lips. She lightly kicked his leg under the table, like a warning and whining.

The sour love aroma directly pierced the nose. Haruno truly couldn’t stand staying at this table another second, but she couldn’t slam the table and leave angrily.

So, her eyes spun, and she interrupted smiling: “By the way, Yukino-chan, I have the audio recording~ Want it?”

“Thank you, but no.”

Yukino immediately calmed. She raised her head, combed her bangs aside, and said flatly: “Conversely, the committee has the highest quality audio file. Want me to give you a copy?”

“Tch!”

Haruno clicked her tongue. She glanced annoyed at Yuu again, and stopped talking.

“You...”

Normally she’d ignore, but for some reason, strange emotions suddenly surfaced. Her mouth slightly opened. She almost couldn’t hold the urge to talk to him like moments ago.

(Why? Why suddenly care about him?)

Before Yuu could understand this feeling, Mama Yuigahama’s voice sounded beside.

“So happy~ Why no song for my Yui~”

The youthful-faced mom cupped her cheeks, acting like a child denied candy, pouting her clear tiny lips while whining.

Yuigahama full of embarrassment, tried reaching to cover her mom’s mouth.

“Mom, don’t! I don’t need...”

“Don’t need or don’t want?”

As if seeing everything, Mama Yuigahama stared deeply. Her gaze gentle but allowing no evasion.

Yuigahama stunned momentarily, unconsciously answering: “W-want, of course want, but if I tell Yuu-kun, he’ll play for me anytime...”

“That was originally my exclusive right.”

Surrounded by two large-breasted women, Sora added flatly.

“Anytime, huh?” Mama Yuigahama confirmed her expression. She suddenly smiled relieved, sighing meaningfully:

“Good~ Anyway, in the future, you’ll walk together a long time. Then, don’t say just one song. Asking Yuu to make a special song for Yui on every birthday seems quite romantic!”

“Yes, quite romantic.”

Though not directed specifically, Saori took over uninvited.

She opened her fan again, covering her lips, as if showing a thin smile behind.

“However, after this Winter Snow, Tenkiji-kun will make another song for Yukino, right? Or just this once?”

Stared coldly by Saori, Yuu suddenly had a strange feeling that adult Yukino was threatening him to tell the truth.

“Uh, of course not...”

“By the way!” Before Yuu finished, Mama Yuigahama suddenly clapped hands. Head resting on supported palms, she said brightly smiling, “How about making a song for Yui right now! I remember a piano app on phone that can be played directly... How about title Yui’s Love?”

Saori raised brows, finally shifting gaze aside. She said gently: “Yuigahama-san, it’s mealtime now. This suggestion seems a bit inappropriate.”

Mama Yuigahama also turned. As if not feeling the superior pressure and authority in those eyes, she blinked innocently.

“Really? I think not! Anyway, main dishes not served yet, so just listen to Yuu play a song for Yui to pass time.”

“Art isn’t called passing time.”

Knowing explanation wouldn’t convince, Saori quickly changed: “Time and place unsuitable, and phone app music won’t sound good.”

“No problem, I just want to hear what song he’d give Yui.”

“Indeed, quite curious.”

“Hmm?” Mama Yuigahama slightly surprised seeing Saori nod agreement.

But next second, the kimono beauty narrowed eyes like crescent moons. Fan bone touched her tiny chin. She said slightly smug like a child:

“Anyway, a loving song no different from love confession like Winter Snow probably can’t be imitated. Under this premise, how will he play a piano song glorifying friendship? This point truly makes one curious.”

“Hmm, so...”

Murmuring softly, palm gently stuck to her smooth cheek. Mama Yuigahama also narrowed eyes observing Saori. Unwilling-to-lose light flashed in her eyes.

She suddenly sighed, saying regretfully: “Indeed, Yui missed her best chance.”

Saori slightly frowned. Just showing confused expression, she saw Mama Yuigahama put on disappointed face, but lip corners repeatedly couldn’t help curving up saying:

“Anyway, relationship with Yui already very deep. Unfitting for him to do love confession playing piano like a child now.”

After pause, she added seriously: “Long-term couple joy isn’t in exaggerated things like this!”

“...”

Saori silent momentarily.

If gazes had power, right now Yuu might have frozen to death multiple times.

*PAT!*

Her fan opened again, covering the kimono beauty’s lower face.

As if adjusting mood with closed eyes, Saori opened them after moments. No longer looking at Yuu before her, but said to Mama Yuigahama:

“Sorry to ask, does your daughter have a boyfriend?”

Mama Yuigahama narrowed eyes to thin lines, saying casually: “I find it very strange too... Don’t tell me your Yukino-chan is also dating that guy?”

“...”

After brief conversation pause, attention suddenly reversed, naturally pointing to the source of all this.

Saori’s tone directly turned cold, even slightly firm: “Since you don’t want us using small tests to probe you, I’ll ask directly—Tenkiji-kun, you’re definitely dating Yukino, right?”

Smile on Mama Yuigahama’s face completely vanished. She stared seriously at Yuu’s face: “Yuu, you didn’t do anything disappointing Yui, right?”

“...”

Haruno didn’t speak. She just propped her cheek, indifferently observing the solemn serious atmosphere.

Sora had no intention to interfere. She was just ready to take her brother away from these two old women anytime, completely uncaring what they’d think.

As for Yukino and Yuigahama, they knew now wasn’t time for them to speak. They just reached again to hold his jacket hem, telling him both were by his side.

But next moment, their hands were held by him, wrapped tightly in his palms, placed openly on the table.

Facing the moms’ direct questions, Yuu no longer needed hesitation. He answered calmly:

“As you see, I, Tenkuji Yuu, am currently dating both your daughters simultaneously.”

Both moms: “😐”

The suddenly deep frightening gazes made Yuu’s heart momentarily skip and hard to breathe—not from fear of authoritative cold housewife aura, but in this short time, his mind flashed future images of Yukino sent abroad, Yui forced to transfer schools, both leaving him under parental orders.

Precisely because he didn’t want such future, he’d strive harder than before to protect the precious present.

Yuu drew deep breath. He stared unblinking into both moms’ eyes, as if letting sword tips touch his chest. He said calmly:

“Supposedly, even the most shameless man shouldn’t say such rude words before the girl’s mother... However, from my view, my feelings for them, and theirs for me, aren’t things to hide, disguise falsely, hard to express.”

“Though I have endless apologies to both mothers, I won’t let our three-person relationship become a lie!”

In total silence, Yuu released the girls’ hands, declaring loudly again:

“I’m dating both your daughters simultaneously, and will continue, even if I must be a shameless rude man—please believe, I’ll use all life efforts to give them equal eternal happiness.”

“...”

His words slowly dissolved at the silent table. As if all surrounding air removed, unbearable heat began spreading.

This sincere weighty oath seemed not to move the moms at all. Rather, they found it very funny, like watching a child say the joke After growing up I’ll marry XX! They couldn’t take it seriously.

But Yuu’s cheating fact was before eyes, making it impossible to laugh—especially his truthful face, like a shameless hero, as if saying dating two girls simultaneously wasn’t bad. As long as they’re happy, no need to interfere.

Initially ridiculous, then angry, then disappointed.

“Yukino, break up with him.” Saori said coldly, no room for rebuttal.

“Sorry, I refuse, Mother.” Yukino answered calmly. Her gaze firm cold like ice.

“Yui, what do you think?” Mama Yuigahama put serious face, gesturing her daughter to think carefully before answering.

“This is my decision.” Yuigahama spoke seriously, saying the answer she’d thought.

Then, they eye-contacted, smiling simultaneously.

Yui: “Mom, you know nothing.”

Yukino: “Precisely because we’ve gone through much together, struggled many times, saddened many times, now we can be grateful for this choice, and never regret.”

Right after his two girlfriends, facing Saori whose anger hardened like cold wind, and Mama Yuigahama slightly frowning unsure what she thought, Yuu spoke again:

“I don’t want to use your concern and love for your daughters to threaten acceptance of our relationship. I also don’t know what to do for you to believe I’ll definitely bring happiness to Yui and Yukino.”

He spread hands helplessly, like an old gambler out of cards only able to cheat, last struggle before the dealer.

“I’ll prove this future with actions. For now, I can only say grand mouth words, hoping to make your feelings slightly more comfortable.”

*PAT!*

Fan bone hit table loudly. Saori stared sharply. That momentum as if suffocating.

“Actions? Words? Don’t joke! Tenkiji-kun, no matter how well you do, how right your reasons, once you choose cheating, it’s equating Yukino and others’ lifetime value to only half your life!”

“Who do you think you are? Above others?”

Yuu answered calmly smiling: “Sorry, even if you pin such big lifetime value hat on me, I won’t break up from guilt—after all, I’m nobody. Just a boyfriend wanting to be with them.”

“Fine, then aren’t you afraid what others will think of you?” Pointing to other Class A customers, Saori continued aggressively pressing.

Her tone firm but unemotional, as if wanting him to realize mistake through endless questions: “Even if you’re not afraid, if news spreads of them dating you simultaneously, what will others think of them? Peer criticism, even future society and both sides’ relatives gossip, have you thought of all this? Thought of what pressure and pain they’ll face?”

“Of course, all you said are things that once troubled me.”

Like coral standing firm in rapids, Yuu’s expression unchanged. He suddenly called Sora.

Then, under Saori and others’ shocked gazes, a possibly dozens-page work plan appeared on the table.

Unzipping her small bag, Sora sighed wordlessly: “...Probably only Yuu would do something like this worldwide.”

Though muttering so, her lip corners couldn’t help curving up, as if admiring her foolish jerk brother.

“This...”

After both moms shifted shocked gazes to the plan cover, Yuu pushed his nose bridge. As if invisible glasses reflection flashed before him.

He showed elegant cultured smile. Interlaced fingers on table, speaking slowly, salesman-like tone:

“Of course no one believes just words. So, I spent days listing problems we’ll face after dating as three, solutions to overcome, various risk avoidance guidelines.”

“Rough interaction model follows what’s written. At the very end, my life plan so far, including future house size I’ll buy, how to handle marriage issues, who’ll take children’s surname in future. All discussable together...”

The flowing words eliminated all air tension and solemnity.

Like a manager in product presentation, Yuu spoke uncaring of anyone, completely ignoring everyone’s truly frozen expressions except Sora.

Because he knew better than anyone his capabilities were very limited.

He didn’t want to hypnotize moms with words. He knew highly unlikely to convince them to hand daughters just with words. Light novels don’t write how to deal with girlfriends’ parents after opening harem—

He, stiff like honest man, no authority making anyone trust, no know-how to play dumb or ambiguous to fool them, how could he pass mother-in-law chaos and get both girlfriends’ family recognition?

Yuu never stopped thinking. It was instinct he relied on to survive.

Coincidentally face accident, prove love with life?

Don’t talk if such coincidence happens. Yuu absolutely unwilling to use their safety as bargaining chip for recognition. Also don’t want them sad crying worrying about him.

Or, develop power rivaling Shinomiya family, openly marry multiple wives?

No one would object, many upper circle do same. Occasionally hear legitimate, concubine, illegitimate child rumors, no one surprised—if talking opening harem, what’s high school Japanese boy? Nobles are most unrestrained immoral.

But time insufficient!

With current background, if he dared say wants to build Tenkuji family future, ready marry multiple wives many heirs, dating two girlfriends nothing, he might get slapped multiple times on spot by both moms, blacklisted no contact from then.

After long thought, fool like him could only use most foolish method.

“Honestly, I must thank you both for not immediately leaving with daughters after hearing I date them. This gives me chance to prove myself.”

After finishing one part, Yuu sighed. Confident expression slowly vanished. He coughed twice hoarsely.

Seeing this, Sora immediately gave barley tea bottle—Yuigahama beside still shocked, so she could only do it.

After wetting throat with barley tea, he continued: “What’s wrong with high schooler dating two girlfriends? What business of yours us just dating? Even if you deny our relationship, we can still find ways to meet secretly, even elope somewhere no one finds... I’ve thought all these reasons excuses, but even if successful, what’s the point?”

His eyes like calmly twinkling galaxy. Voice as if released voice changer, no longer flowing confidence as before.

Only thin, sincere, heartfelt pleading heard.

“My goal isn’t to date them, then fulfill own desires. But to make Yukinoshita Yukino and Yuigahama Yui—make my girlfriends happy, reach ending where no one hurt, that’s all.”

Facing both moms’ slowly raised gazes, silent complicated gazes, Yuu reached girls’ hands again. He said seriously word by word:

“So, these are my feelings.”

Then, he shifted gaze to the plan opened at last page on table.

“That’s my reality.”

Yuu placed his hand, smiling slightly at moms, final conclusion.

“Maybe you can’t acknowledge me now, but I’m ready—to make such feelings reality anyone can accept.”

“Though all heartfelt, if unused to grand rhetoric, I can change speaking way.”

As if no longer pretending good child, Yuu’s face smile grew brighter, reaching refreshing shameless level.

“I like Yukino, and like Yui too! I want to be with them forever, don’t want other men touching even their fingertips!”

“Sorry, this is my selfishness.”

Though such feelings existed since first mission.

But this was first time turning into complete words, clearly expressing to others.

—Yes, Tenkuji Yuu is a very possessive jerk type man, but can also flirt with other girls.

He’s usually faithful, but if liking several simultaneously, can say rude words like “I want them all.”

Pity, turns out he’s not as noble as he believed.

If so, even if not asking system to take his feelings then, would he...

He seemed to understand his heart, as if passionate feelings suddenly surfaced from depths, uncontrollably taking root spreading.

Yuu glanced around table. He glanced at Haruno slightly biting lip odd expression without trace, immediately withdrawing gaze.

Right then, the tiny silver-haired prince also came bringing food.

Since always attentive surroundings, this time before stepping into affected range, Yuu retracted 「Earless Wall」 status, turning to take plates from her hands.

“Thanks, let me.”

“No, let me.” Kanade shook head. Tone flat but firm, “I’m butler, you’re guest. Let me serve.”

“Alright.” Yuu not too insistent. He soon sat back, watching her light stable movements placing food on table. Her strength seemed greater than imagined.

“More in back, please wait a bit.”

Bowing slightly, before turning to leave, Kanade’s expression still flat, but much doubt in heart.

(Why all their expressions so strange, except Sora and Yuu-senpai?)

(And atmosphere very stuffy. What’s that plan-like thing on table for?)

Pity, she’s working now, unused to prying others’ affairs.

So though curious, Kanade stepped firmly, preparing next dishes.

“...For cheating, need to go this far?”

Once Kanade left, Saori broke stuffy atmosphere with emotionless voice.

Frowning brows touched by fan tip. Her knife-like cold gaze somewhat resembled Yukino... Perhaps genetic inheritance.

Should Yuu say they’re indeed mother-daughter?

“Sorry, I’m indeed troublesome person.”

Yuu shrugged. He’d said all needed, no need for disguise testing again. He asked directly straightforward: “Also, don’t tell me you think your precious daughter has no value making me treat her very seriously?”

“...”

Piercing cold air suddenly surged. No longer comparable to Ice Queen—this level, perhaps Ice Goddess?

In short, Yuu seemed to have made the mother angrier.

But since all happened, even making her angrier, she might not be angrier than finding her daughter’s boyfriend is a playboy.

So be honest, Yuu now too lazy to care her feelings. He planned to say whatever he wanted.

Anyway, if truly wanting to oppose his relationship with Yukino, Saori had countless reasons. These rude words wouldn’t make much difference.

Yuu stood indifferently in this snowstorm, but one girlfriend beside couldn’t help worrying for him. She reached under table pinching his thigh, whispering head lowered:

“Why deliberately anger her? Mom still willing to sit here means chance to talk. If she gets angry and leaves because of this sentence...”

“Won’t, relax.” Yuu slightly helpless.

“Then do something to make me relax! You didn’t even tell me about that plan. I’ll demand later!” Yukino pouted dissatisfied. She patted his thigh like angry cat, voice slowly lowering.

“If possible, I don’t want to be hostile with my mother either...”

“I told you, that’s not a choice making you happy, so I won’t.” Yuu gently patted her hand, then raised head, staring at Saori whose face not softened at all.

“I overdid earlier. Forgive me.” After sincere apology, he soon said again, “But your precious daughter you value, is also very important to me.”

Saori raised brows. Fan opened covering lips. She put on ready-to-fault-find expression.

“Really, how important?”

Yuu answered without thinking: “Spring can’t lack cherry blossoms, autumn can’t lack maple leaves—that important.”

“But cherry blossoms and maple leaves sooner or later wither.”

“As long as spring still exists, autumn still exists, she still exists.”

“Oh? Don’t want your summer and winter?”

“Please give me time, to find her blooming most beautifully.”

“The not beautifully blooming unwanted? The old not beautiful no longer sought?”

“Then, I can’t run anymore either. Perfect to be buried with her.”

“You have double suicide tendency? How to give her such security?”

“...When spring comes next year, I’ll crawl out from soil. Must see the blooming, no matter how many times.”

“Then your summer and winter let her alone? Say you seek her, but understand her loneliness in soil?”

Yuu’s lip corners slightly twitched. He couldn’t help staring at Saori casually swinging her hinoki wood fan, slightly smug.

He’d never seen someone loving literary debate this much!

Too lazy to continue debating with this mother, he directly threw ultimate move—

“But Madam, I’m cheating.”

“So no matter spring, summer, autumn, or winter, there’s someone else beside us!”

“...”

Her fan stopped mid-air. Saori slightly widened eyes. Truly shocked by Yuu’s strange mindset and shameless answer.

(I know you might be shameless, but didn’t expect this shameless!)

As for Yukino, she’d given up minding both from shame and helplessness. She just lowered her blushing white face, with Yuigahama, placing food before each.

“...Indeed, talkative men aren’t trustworthy.”

Saori closed fan. Her graceful smooth face calmed again. Speaking tone neither cold nor warm.

She suddenly turned, looking at the other daughter silent throughout, strangely quiet from start to end.

“Haruno, you say something too. Yukino poor at choosing people, insisting with playboy like this. You can’t just let it be, right?”

“...Hmm?”

Called by mother, Haruno just snapped from reverie. Head left supporting palm.

She glanced mother and Yuu each, then around table. She propped head back on palm bored, staying lazy.

She murmured softly: “Completely different from imagined... Yuu-chan truly amazing. Small issue like this indeed can’t stop him.”

Was this Talk no Jutsu power? Or rational analysis flow victory?

Anyway, somehow, atmosphere among them no longer tense. Even someone already eating cake alone, acting as if earlier confrontation nothing.

The two moms supposed to attack Yuu relentlessly, now only her own struggling weakly, even seeking help from her... Truly making one not know where to complain.

What else, because Yuu is person easy to surprise, 100% surprise person.

Honestly, first time seeing her mother directly refuted. Haruno not only not shocked at all, even amused like watching good show.

Even from her mischievous nature, she wanted to say this to her birth mother:

“Yoo~ Mom, didn’t you still want Yukino to break up with him? Why after he said few sentences and produced cheating plan, you immediately surrender? Where’s your usual commanding authority and firmness~”

But her brain not broken. Such things of/ke enough thought in heart. She who also loves mother, never say disrespectful elder words.

“Hmm, say something, huh...”

Haruno narrowed eyes. Under beside hopeful urging gaze, she sighed soundlessly.

Now, mother wanted her to state stance and side with her, together condemn the annoying man preferring cheating over returning to ex-girlfriend always waiting.

No need hesitate what to do, right?

Fingers gently scratched between brows. Haruno half-closed eyes, clicking tongue indifferently: “First, if must say, your daughter herself initiated becoming third party.”

Saori: “?”

“You didn’t mishear. Dango first dated him. If not for that stupid Dango there proactively suggesting three-person relationship, he might not really cheat... His moral obsession and self-control far stronger than you imagine.”

Saori: “??”

“Then, though I personally very hate playboys and flirts, this isn’t first time we see, right? For example, isn’t head of X family married three or four wives to give him sons? You’re also used to accepting, never heard anyone gossip about their family at socialite salons, right?”

Saori: “...”

Haruno sighed strongly. She suddenly straightened, staring at stunned mother in seat.

“Frog wants swan meat, trash wants to hold two big thighs at once. Of course no one can accept such things. Mocking natural... But look at your daughter’s boyfriend. Does he look like frog or trash? Neither. He even wrote cheating work plan, attached account amount ordinary people might never get lifetime.”

Haruno shrugged, continuing calmly orderly: “Has talent and initiative. So what if slightly playboy? Not to mention very faithful. There’s crazy girl named Natsukawa at school always bothering him. He just needs nod to sleep with her, but stubborn like rock, rejected many times... Isn’t that better than nobles treating women as goods or child-producing machines?”

At her words pause, Saori finally couldn’t hold. She spoke unbelieving, like writer suddenly betrayed by website:

“Haruno, what the hell...”

Not just her. Even Yuu and others hearing these words couldn’t help staring shocked, as if first time knowing Haruno.

“Why? Strange I speak based on common sense? Or you think I can only argue with Yukino-chan and Yuu-chan? You all too much!”

Haruno puffed cheeks angry. She glanced each pretending fierce, then said annoyed:

“Indeed this situation. If Mom colder, more like big family head, not too caring daughter’s personal happiness, think you’d care small thing like this? You’d definitely calculate how to maximize using Yuu-chan, know. Who cares who you cheat with... Such big reaction is strange.”

“Me? You say I’m strange?”

Saori widened eyes pointing herself. She even forgot maintain calm graceful expression: “What strange about me? Yukino just seventeen. Isn’t normal I don’t want to hand her to jerk who cheats!?”

“I didn’t say not normal. We like Mom like this~” Haruno hurried change words to soothe mother, then said, “But conversely, Yuu-chan also not strange, besides slightly jerk.”

Saori frowned: “Why say so?”

After thinking momentarily, Haruno stared at Yuu. When eyes met, her soft lip corners couldn’t help curving into arc.

She just thin smiled like that, without involving special emotions. She said casually:

“Born ordinary family, ordinary school, no background identity... Yet wants Yukinoshita family daughter to share boyfriend with another girl. Should be no one daring this bold, unless truly crazy, or arrogant must send to mental hospital.”

“Morals ethics, common sense, matching marriage... All would be obstacles. Normally, he should give up, let go, make choice we think smart.”

Haruno tilted head smiling. Familiar tone as usual, she asked him: “Then, why didn’t you?”

Yuu unconsciously answered: “If I refused just because usually should, I’m sure I’d regret greatly.”

“Because answer not obtained through own thinking, has no meaning.”

To others, refusal here should refer to rejecting Yuigahama’s three-person relationship proposal.

Only Yuu knew, he was talking about not rejecting Yuigahama’s confession despite still in mission period.

That was answer he got after endless thinking and hard struggling. That was choice he’d never regret, no matter how many consequences he bore, whatever others said.

Its meaning was here.

“So that’s it, you all act for your own reasons. Not strange and strange. That’s all.”

Withdrawing gaze from Yuu’s face, Haruno spread hands, helplessly to mother: “These people all seventeen. Not dolls to order around. We can’t control their thoughts... Rather than stand opposite side, better think more important things.”

“More important what?” Fan even forgot to open. Saori asked reflexively.

Haruno showed mysterious smile.

Circle, number one, train passing tunnel—she made such hand gesture.

“Soul safety issue.”

Everyone: “...”

“Why look at me like that? I’m not wrongly worried, right?” Facing their strange silent gazes without blushing, Haruno blinked pretending innocent, “Who told current high schoolers so free, like beasts in heat. So easy to shoot-shoot...”

“So, here, I suggest revoking Yukino-chan’s alone living right, so she doesn’t bring man home to stay someday!”

“Hah?! I won’t do that—No!”

Halfway speaking, Yukino immediately reacted. She couldn’t help frowning staring, showing embarrassed angry expression biting lips.

“Nee-san, you’re doing this just for that purpose—!”

Haruno whistled, turning face away: “Sa~ What are you talking about? Big sister doesn’t understand~”

“You still playing dumb...”

“Yukino, Haruno’s right.” Before she finished, mother’s firm calm voice sounded with irresistible will.

“I may not control who you date, but that apartment is mine. I have right to order you move out... After Cultural Festival ends, pack your things, come home.”

“Mother!” Living home or not wasn’t point. Yukino’s ears currently red hot, cheeks burning. She just wanted to quickly clear misunderstanding, “Don’t listen to Nee-san’s nonsense. She has hidden motives! I swear, I never thought to bring Tenkiji-kun home to stay...”

“Hidden motives? What motives could Haruno have?”

“This...”

“Yes, yes~ Gentle, kind, understanding big sister like me, what bad intent? I’m sad Yukino-chan suspects me, sob sob~”

“You... Hey, you there, why laughing? Funny, huh!? Yui, pinch him!”

“Roger! ...Pinch where?”

“Anyway not thigh. He won’t hurt at all.”

“Understood, then traditional soft waist fat... Eh? Yukinon, how do you know pinching Yuu-kun’s thigh won’t hurt him?”

“...”

Midday, Class 1-A bustling with coming going people. Cooked food and hot tea aroma filled air. Chatter heard endlessly.

Because close seat distances, if someone pricked ears, could hear next table conversation.

But in class back, one seven-person table naturally ignored by all. Its existence more obscure than back class calligraphy display.

No one turned there, no one interested in their talk contents. Even if almost hit by joking teen boys and girls, customers and butlers all passed without seeing, no one noticing oddity.

Under this Earless Wall premise, Yuu finally passed his first chaos, completing quite important life achievement.

「Said before two mothers I’ll date both your daughters simultaneously, and successfully get their approval.」

Though far from optimistic approval, neither Saori nor Mama Yuigahama commented further on his cheating.

Perhaps thanks to girlfriends’ firm conviction, or his sincerity (referring to dozens-page cheating plan) moved them, or Haruno’s high arguments truly stabilized situation.

But anyway, at least Yuu passed mother-in-law hurdle, could continue dating Yuigahama and Yukino.

And in process, no one sacrificed... Oh, wait, he forgot to account Yukino’s alone living right.

In short, this issue temporarily ended. Happy ending story. No better development than this!

Yuu secretly sighed relief. Seeing harmonious lunch time before him, couldn’t help secretly smiling.

If missions never end, maybe not bad to marry them and truly build Tenkuji family...

What he wrote in plan was planning future together with both, assuming he’d never complete missions.

Because Yuu’s love always wholehearted.

No matter if it’ll disappear someday, as long as he likes now, he believes he’ll continue liking in future.

Is this too faithful or just fear of loss, he doesn’t know, nor wants deep analysis of his love tendency.

Enough to know what he strives for.

(So, in end, I still must complete missions.)

(Otherwise, first three efforts, first three separations, first three loves, all become worthless answer sheets.)

Yuu shook head. Gaze shifted, looking toward Haruno.

He always felt Haruno starting to plan something again—not as simple as revoking Yukino’s alone living right, but something more important to her, something worth careful thought.

Not only that, her reactions very odd. As if past-present separated feelings gradually disappearing. When facing Haruno, he always unconsciously cared for her expressions, paying attention to her.

As for cause, perhaps only recent daily memory dreams?

Can say, one wave just subsided, another comes—No, should say before fully resolving this big system issue, he’ll always ride waves up down, never time to calm.

Yuu sighed inwardly. Just wanting to reorganize feelings, he saw two small hands reach again under table.

One slender long, cold boneless, as if carved from best jade.

One warm soft, tiny delicate, like perfectly warm steamed bun.

They hung calmly by his sides. Owners chatting with opposite mothers as if nothing, as if not knowing where to put hands, so just placed where easy to reach.

He couldn’t help narrowing eyes smiling. Yuu also straightened back. He pulled both small hands under table unknown to anyone, transferring body heat together with feelings.

This time, no longer afraid of ending, no longer afraid of separation.

Because they held his hands, he’d never be alone, no matter advance or retreat.

Every day from now, surely more beautiful than past...

With indescribable vibration, Yuu couldn’t help sighing.

Next moment, Haruno suddenly slammed table standing. She pointed to hidden under table part, loudly truthfully to mother:

“Mom, they’re secretly flirting before us! Yukino-chan’s hand almost touching his thigh!”

“What?”

Saori’s gaze directly sharpened. Fan covering lips, only sharp gaze coldly swept Yuu.

“You really bold, daring do such things before me...”

“...” His hands not even released yet. Yuu speechless. He could only lower head admitting fault.

Seeing the childish college student sitting full joy face, Yuu suddenly understood. Truly understood.

First thing for every beautiful day—is to completely stay away from Haruno’s mischievous nature!

◆━⊰✧⊱━◆

During meal, Yuigahama secretly asked her mother.

“Mom, why only ask what do you think? I thought you’d be angrier.”

“Angry? Why? No need, right?”

Fork gently poked spaghetti before her. Mama Yuigahama glanced smiling eyes, saying casually: “Though my daughter stupid, insisting share boyfriend with others, at least she found own happiness, and future rich husband candidate, right? Besides, not my boyfriend being shared, so why angry.”

“Eh~ Hearing Mom say so makes me feel unvalued.” Yuigahama pouted, saying mixed feelings, “Open-minded good, but accepting our three relationship so fast, gives illusion Mom lazy to manage me.”

“Not illusion, stupid daughter. Since you cried all night in bed because of him, deliberately skipping school for it, I’ve been lazy managing your love life.” Mama Yuigahama reached finger, smiling poking her puffed soft balloon-like cheek, “And with Saori there, me saying nothing is actually most valuing your choice.”

“Eh? Why so?” Yuigahama blinked slightly confused.

“Analysis very simple.”

Mama Yuigahama raised one finger, cleared throat, starting fluently explain.

“If Saori forcibly makes Yukino-chan and Yuu break up, then final winner is you. If Yukino-chan hostile with mother, I can also mediate, letting you get dominant position in this love war.”

“If in end all happy, and Saori agrees your three relationship, I also no loss—anyway, no conflict with anyone. My daughter won’t want elope from home, and she can get good impression from son-in-law. Most important, I can also get another smart, graceful, beautiful daughter~”

After finishing, under Yuigahama’s stunned gaze, Mama Yuigahama puffed full chest, proudly laughing.

“How? This is housewife wisdom! As long as do nothing, let others advance, the one losing will never be you!”

“This has nothing to do with housewife!”

Before truly understanding what she said, Yuigahama couldn’t help complaining so.

Title: What Does It Mean to Stab the Heart??

In the corner of classroom A-1.

The aroma of black tea steamed in front of a beautiful nose. Black-stockinged legs crossed gracefully, every movement radiating natural elegance.

Like a witch emerging from a forbidden library, the black-haired girl sipped her full, cherry-blossom-colored lips. Her long, slightly curved eyelashes fell gracefully. A calm and mysterious atmosphere enveloped her, like a thin, hazy veil.

Many passersby couldn’t help but turn and stare, their gazes fixed on her smooth and stunningly beautiful face, or lingering on her plump and firm thighs wrapped in black stockings, and the bulging, undulating front of her uniform. That pure yet sexy allure made it hard for anyone—old or young, man or woman—to resist the instinct to admire her.

No one knew that, at this moment, the beautiful black-haired girl was on the verge of exploding with frustration.

Under the table, the tip of her small black leather boot pressed against the floor, while her raised heel trembled slightly, causing subtle ripples in the plump thigh flesh wrapped in black stockings.

Behind her mature and calm face, her teeth were clenched tightly. Pitch-black anger like a silent abyss burned in her ruby eyes, as if ready to shoot flames in a certain direction at any moment.

“Hey, stupid underclassman, do you even know I’m giving you hints... why are you still chatting over there?! Why don’t you hurry up and come find me in the third-year area! This is a matter of life and death, be a little sensitive!”

She shifted her hips restlessly on the chair, hoping to rush over, grab someone’s collar, and yell right into his uselessly handsome face, not caring if saliva sprayed onto it, just wanting to vent the unbearable rage in her chest.

She was so angry that her chest felt like it had swollen a few sizes!

Utaha’s schedule today was very simple.

Since morning, when she left the flyer, she had been using her notebook to track Yuu’s whereabouts, following him from afar.

Yuu went to the audio-visual room to watch a movie; Utaha waited outside.

Yuu joyfully toured the school festival with his girlfriend; Utaha rejected annoying suitors while casually passing by the stalls.

Yuu performed in the drama stage; Utaha even paid for a ticket to watch.

She was part of the applause after the piano recital earlier.

And now, to enter and scout the situation in classroom A-1, she had to wait ten minutes outside for a seat!

“What the hell, that bastard!”

Her trembling fingers from anger made the liquid in the teacup shake like an earthquake. Utaha sipped her tea twice more, trying to calm her increasingly restless mood.

What else could she do? The notebook in her hand wasn’t a Future Diary; she couldn’t predict Yuu’s actions, only chase behind to monitor.

To warn him to be careful of the girl trying to stab his heart with a sword, Utaha had to know when Yuu would go to classroom 3-A, then rush back to the stall before he arrived and disguise herself as a fortune teller to deliver the information.

If Utaha had a choice, she wouldn’t want to be a riddle-spouter either!

But the warning in the notebook made her too afraid to try other methods.

For example, getting his contact info and sending a threatening message... but Yuu would never believe it, and she might even get reported to the police.

Humans are pitiful creatures, only able to make choices in the absence of choices.

After all, if Utaha had even one person she could trust in this school, she wouldn’t need to personally approach Yuu...

It should have been enough to observe from afar; why plunge into this bottomless pit!

“If I could go back to that summer vacation, I’d definitely break the legs of the person who carelessly followed others. What’s the point of gathering story material... Curiosity kills the cat. You never know if the person you’re following is ordinary or a light novel protagonist!”

After finishing the last sip of black tea, Utaha placed the teacup on the table, exhaled slowly, then opened the notebook on the table.

“Hmph... already confessing to his girlfriends’ mothers, huh? Seeing them get along so well, it must have succeeded?”

Glancing at the contents, then lifting her eyes to the seven-person seat in the back, she smirked slightly and once again labeled Yuu negatively in her heart.

This trashy man who two-times and does it openly—no matter how talented he is, only insane and gullible girls would fall for him to the death.

Even if they were initially fooled by his gentle and perfect self, after learning what he’d done and his unbroken ties with so many other women, a smart girl should stay away for her own safety, not willingly sacrifice her feelings and be forced to become one of his girlfriends.

In romance novels, a plot like this would only be written by a third-rate author, making a fourth-rate book!

“Honestly, a painful love triangle is the most fitting for them...”

Shaking her head and sighing, Utaha suddenly realized something, and her movements froze.

Guess what—if they were influenced by something in him, unconsciously falling for him, willingly becoming his girlfriends, even sacrificing so much for it?

Conspiracy theory!

Utaha shuddered in shock, rubbing her goosebump-covered arms hard, trembling slightly.

Because if so, she could very well be the next target, her mind controlled by the same mysterious and terrifying thing as this notebook, ending up tragically like those women!

No! A future like that must not happen!

“I-Is there a way to avoid it...”

Her mind raced, forcing herself to calm down while carefully observing the movements over there.

Though confused why the two were loudly discussing cheating and holding hands under the table—a clearly visible act from behind—yet strangely no one noticed.

But since world resets could happen to her, having magic to hide affairs might not be strange anymore?

Thinking this, Utaha unconsciously forgot her earlier worry and enthusiastically guessed how many special abilities that man had.

After all, she was a novelist; how could she not be interested in an existence beyond common sense!

Thus, after three more cups of black tea, Utaha finally waited for them to stand and pay.

“Haaah, you really made me wait...”

Utaha secretly sighed in relief. Seeing the group leave the class, she stood to pay and followed from afar behind the conspicuous group, keeping a distance that allowed her to act anytime.

At the stairs, seeing them head up without hesitation, as if with a destination, Utaha was briefly surprised, then her heart raced.

“No wasted effort; you finally know to find me! Quick, don’t stop, hurry to the third floor!”

And when they stepped onto the stairs to the third floor, she would turn and run, heading straight to class 3-A from the other stairs!

Utaha had everything set up there; distance and timing were in her favor. Thank goodness! Everything would finally go as planned!

After waiting all morning, she was now as excited as when she learned her novel was a bestseller.

Risking detection, Utaha quickened her pace, closing the gap, climbing up with them, separated only by a small crowd.

Her hopeful eyes followed the stairs. Three steps to the second floor, two steps, one step... good, keep going!

(You’ve visited all the second-floor stalls; no way you’ll visit again, right?)

(You must be heading to the second floor now, then to the third to find the suspicious person who deliberately dropped that flyer for you, right?)

Like a fan seeing their idol take the mic on stage, ready to cheer, Utaha stared at his back with trusting, hopeful eyes.

After stepping onto the second floor, Yuu walked toward the third-floor stairs without hesitation—then passed it without looking, leading his group of friends and family toward the skybridge.

Utaha: “...”

Slowly stopping, on the stairs between the first and second floors, her breath gradually froze, as if turned into a beautiful statue, staring blankly at his retreating back.

If emotions could be represented by color, she might now be entirely blue-black—blue for sorrow over misplaced trust, black for deepening, near-hysterical murderous intent.

People passed on the stairs. Many noticed her expressionless face but eyes showing deep sadness. The gloomy shadow enveloping her made sensitive men feel a slight heartache and pity.

Was she dumped by her boyfriend? Or experienced something heartbreaking?

Like a scarecrow attracting birds, eyes fixed on her. Soon, someone boldly approached the beautiful, seductive girl to chat.

But before he could speak, the statue suddenly revived, angrily throwing the notebook in her hand to the floor, then stomping it hard with her long, black-stockinged legs that could make one want to lick them until broken.

Her beautiful black hair fluttered with rage.

“Bas-tard, you, idi-ot!”

“...”

After venting on the notebook for a while, Utaha took a deep breath, ignoring the shocked and worried stares around her, picked up the undamaged notebook, dusted it off, and walked upstairs with a cold expression.

◆━⊰✧⊱━◆

“Hmm~ Virtual Game Research Club, it’s this way, right?”

After calming down, Asuna wasn’t in a hurry to find Yuu but leisurely strolled through the cultural festival toward the club building.

She remembered her brother’s request; looking at the time, the world martial arts championship should have started. Coming now was perfect to check the situation.

Of course, unless something unexpected, she wouldn’t interfere with the kids!

After tossing the finished food wrappers into the trash, Asuna rubbed her slightly rounded belly and sighed contentedly.

Confirming the Virtual Game Research Club’s location, she walked quickly.

Though small with a tiny, remote clubroom, perhaps due to the fame of <RECT>’s full-dive helmet or effective virtual club promotion.

When Asuna arrived, a crowd was watching; it seemed the busiest stall in the corridor.

“Come, come, just five hundred yen for one full-dive Sword Art World game try! And for another five hundred yen, challenge the arena—defeat the champion to replace them, hold for one more round, and get a super prize specially prepared by our virtual club! Don’t miss if you love games and thrills!”

Hearing their promotion from afar, Asuna couldn’t help frowning slightly.

“Hold the arena? Isn’t that a martial arts tournament? And why charge?”

Curiously, she reached the crowd’s edge and said to everyone with a gentle, polite smile: “Excuse me, please make way; I have business with the club members.”

A beautiful face and friendly attitude are the best path-openers.

Soon, Asuna emerged from the crowd and entered the virtual clubroom.

Her brother, Kouichirou, lent four helmets total. They used two for trials, two for arena fights. Two LCD screens hung high on the door-facing wall, letting spectators view two game screens.

From the ID names, they used test accounts provided by her brother.

Asuna looked around, saw no issues, and nodded.

Though not as formal as a game press conference, for a small club to set up like this proved they were serious about the exhibit.

However, what puzzled her was the clearly curtained arena area. Not only spectators but even onstage players couldn’t see each other.

With such confusion, she quickly found the virtual club president and stated her identity.

“You’re Yuuki-san? Hello, I’m very grateful for your brother’s help so far.”

In a slightly exaggerated old-fashioned tone, the standard otaku-looking club president pushed up his glasses and said expressionlessly: “As thanks, may I treat you to dinner after the festival?”

As usual, Asuna smiled and replied: “Sorry, I already promised dinner with my boyfriend.”

“What a shame.”

Seemingly used to rejection, the club president’s expression didn’t change. After learning Asuna’s questions, he explained.

“We originally planned a world martial arts championship flow and got committee approval. But this morning’s trial showed venue, personnel, and match system weren’t as easy as imagined.”

“Many errors occurred, and we’re lazy game otaku. So we changed the tournament to a simpler arena match, letting visitors play without long matches.”

“About the curtains—some female players felt unsafe with their real bodies surrounded after helmet use, so we got curtains to protect helpless players in-game.”

“Ticket fees? Didn’t Yuuki-senpai tell you? Charging was his suggestion; in exchange for equipment, we split half the stall revenue with him... But we don’t care much about money. Our main goal is letting everyone enjoy virtual gaming and participate with players everywhere!”

A glasses flash appeared; the club president shouted passionately in a flat tone.

“I see...”

Asuna was about to give a respectful look when she saw a cute girl in the trial area remove her helmet, seemingly wanting another go.

A club member approached. They chatted briefly; the girl took out her phone to exchange LINE Ids.

After she left, the member stood tall, closed his eyes, suddenly raised his phone, and slowly turned.

Then basked in the bloody envious stares of other members with a proud expression.

“...That’s what you call participating together?”

Asuna smiled confusedly, tilting her head at the club president.

Her eyes subtly showed disdain.

“That’s just some members’ personal behavior. Please don’t associate it with the whole club.”

He pushed up his glasses, expression flat and stiff, seeming confident.

But a drop of sweat slowly trickled down his forehead, like a small animal targeted by a lion, trembling slightly.

“Fine.”

Asuna sighed helplessly, not wanting to argue with a stranger. After generally checking equipment per her brother’s instructions, she turned and said to the club president:

“No issues, and you’re maintaining the machines well. I’ll tell my brother.”

“Thank you.”

Asuna looked up at the arena match screen. The next match would start soon. Using special test accounts, avatars were random; only gender choosable.

Both sides male. Left seemed the club’s arena champion, avatar movements skilled. Right a bit awkward—first-time full-dive virtual gamer, still adapting.

The left didn’t rush the match, approaching to patiently teach basics like sword skill release and body movement keys.

“Though an arena match, we virtual club members won’t yield on game matters.”

Seeing him stare intently, the club president explained timely: “Konno dougaku is our strongest player. He’s won dozens since becoming champion; no one’s beaten him.”

“Undefeated winner?” Asuna raised a brow, unconsciously smiling, her challenge itch slowly igniting. “Annoying customers like that, aren’t you afraid of complaints?”

“We virtual club members don’t care about outsiders!”

Saying domineering words flatly, the club president added: “Anyway, Konno always gives good game experiences, ensuring they play enough before winning.”

“Impressive? Only skilled people can do that.”

In an admiring tone, Asuna’s smile widened: “True, events like this let us fight masters we normally can’t meet!”

“...”

The club president pushed up his glasses, suddenly afraid to meet her eyes.

As if her eyes shone like falling stars, carrying sword-like sharpness.

As if she suddenly changed from a gentle princess to a seasoned warrior, sword drawn, sharpness making one instinctively back away.

“Hey, can I join too?” Asuna suddenly asked, tone certain.

“...Yes, but queue.”

The club president didn’t ask more, adding Asuna’s name to the list.

After Konno delayed another duel and defeated three challengers, Asuna entered behind the curtain.

Noticing, a member asked confusedly: “President, that’s Yuuki-senpai’s sister, right?”

“Yes.”

“The Yuuki family princess... They developed the machine, so she’s probably better at it than us. Konno-chan won’t lose, right?”

“I don’t know.” A cold glasses flash showed narrowed, deep eyes beneath.

“But even Yuuki-senpai lost badly to Konno in private.”

That was just Konno himself, not his hospitalized sister—the possibly strongest player in the game... But no need to tell outsiders.

The club president pushed up his glasses, staring deeply at the left screen avatar.

“Seriously?!” The member’s eyes widened in shock, then slight relief: “So no equipment familiarity advantage. Pure skill, Konno-chan should be safe...”

“Not certain.” The club president pulled out his phone, quickly searched a page, flipped the screen: “Look.”

“What...” The member leaned in, voice rising in disbelief: “National high school girls’ fencing champion?! This princess is that strong?”

The club president took back his phone, nodding: “And probably far stronger than imagined. I sense a powerful aura from her that Konno lacks... This match will be troublesome.”

As they spoke, both avatars faced off on screen.

◆━⊰✧⊱━◆

In the virtual world, on endless grasslands.

Wind brushing the face, heel-stomping ground feedback, even breathing, scents, tastes—all perfectly reproduced.

Entering this world again, Asuna stretched slightly but frowned dissatisfiedly.

“Random avatars like this are hard to adapt to...”

Good she didn’t pick male for fun; otherwise, maybe only a third of her ability... Too-real games have downsides.

Sighing, she turned to the one-handed swordsman across, just standing.

“Hello, I’m Konno, arena champion.”

Seeming shy, he smiled slightly, not talkative but warm and friendly: “Um, need me to explain the game?”

“No, I’m a veteran.” Controlling the unfamiliar avatar, Asuna drew her long sword from the waist, casually swinging it sideways a few times: “I should be more familiar with this game than you. I came up because I suddenly itched to challenge, so no need to hold back.”

“Eh?” Konno was clearly surprised, then realized: “Ah, you must be Yuuki-niisan’s sister...”

“Yes. Name’s Asuna, nice to meet you.”

Asuna hopped twice lightly, suddenly smiling: “Konno-san, you’re female, right? Not awkward using a male avatar?”

“H-How did you know!?” Konno jumped back two steps in shock, panicking looking around as if seeking a gender leak.

Asuna quickly calmed her: “Just a personal feeling! How... Your stance and sword-holding have slight differences from males. Maybe only I notice?”

“I-I see...” Seeming relieved, Konno slowly calmed, explaining softly: “Um, to play with my sister, my Sword Art World account is male... Just need habit. So you’re amazing to notice...”

“Nothing, just experience.” Asuna smiled: “After the fight, add me as friend? Let’s duel with real avatars later; that’s fun!”

“Okay...” Konno quietly withdrew her surprised gaze.

Though her voice and eyes were gentle, why did it feel like the one before her wasn’t a princess but a battle maniac craving strong opponents?

Probably not just feeling... She said she came up itching to challenge, proving she’s not just a veteran PvPer but likely very strong.

That sun-like confident light in her eyes, Konno had only seen in her sister.

“Ano...” Holding her sword, Konno looked doubtfully: “Need time to adapt to this avatar?”

“No, playing a bit will adapt.”

With a right-hand swipe, Asuna opened the game menu, seeming uninterested in more chat.

“Let’s start. To the death, half health, or one strike?”

“If veteran, to the death...” Drawing her one-handed sword, Konno pursed lips and muttered: “Are you in a hurry? First time meeting someone so quick to fight...”

They stood in the duel prep area. Asuna clearly heard the mutter, smiling apologetically.

“Sorry, long time no equal opponent. Heard from your club president you’re very strong, so a bit impatient.”

“Ah, I-I didn’t mean to blame, sorry!” Konno repeatedly bowed, awkwardly rubbing hands in front.

Luckily her male avatar was charming; otherwise, a burly man acting shy would be visually horrifying.

“A-And I’m not that strong. At least far weaker than my sister...”

“Really? That’s interesting.”

Noting it, Asuna skillfully opened the duel request window, casually sending it.

“I have things after; let’s finish quick!”

“Ah, understood...”

Konno accepted, held her one-handed long sword, widened stance, took common skill prep pose.

Few openings. Asuna nodded inwardly. Not too strong was just humility... This stance far better than veteran-claiming Yuuki-niisan since server open.

A serious opponent!

“Oh, arena matches allow skill use. Highest combo skills usable if you can.” Konno suddenly remembered, quickly reminding.

“I see, that’s great.”

Asuna smiled. Holding the long sword, her wrist—supposed to thrust basically—twisted, slowly tilting her body.

“But then, no wonder you keep winning. Avatar advantage, skill proficiency, arena mechanics familiarity... Let alone full-dive newbies, even general testers probably can’t beat you here, right?”

“Um, that...” Konno bit her lip, seeming intimidated but staring seriously: “Anyway, matches require full power. Any dirty trick must be used. One exploiting all conditions to win is the true winner...”

Asuna smiled casually.

“Relax, I’m not blaming; I’m even happy.”

The big countdown above nearly ended. She casually gripped the hilt, slowly raising the long sword tip, upper body lowering, ready to charge.

“—!?”

As if locked by an invisible cone, face-brushing wind turned sharp knives.

Konno’s pupils sharply contracted, unconsciously releasing usual sword pose, taking full-power stance like against her sister.

Heart-squeezing pressure; a moment’s lapse and chest pierced—but how?!

The Yuuki family princess across was this strong...

“So, careful! To win, I won’t hold back either!”

Countdown hung between them.

Three...

Two...

One.

“Here we go!”

As words fell, duel officially began.

*CLANG—*

One-handed sword glowed with timely skill. But before Konno stepped toward opponent, her wide shocked black eyes slowly filled with sharp, cold light lines.

So fast!?

Like a meteor, ground-parallel, distant to close in a blink, as if transcending time.

Raising dust and storm along the way, mercilessly piercing her body.

Seeing the game screen, the club president and member fell silent, expressions emotionless alike.

After a moment, the member finally spoke.

“President, what was that?”

“RECT princess, Yuuki-san, national high school girls’ fencing champion.”

“Then?”

“Random avatar, beginner long sword, no skill restrictions.”

“Besides?”

“Straight thrust faster than meteor, then massacred on knockdown like slaughter, no counter chance, post-duel refreshingly happy expression.”

The member turned, staring feelingly at the president’s glasses-hidden eyes.

“President, stop; let’s retire from gaming.”

The club president pushed up trembling fingers’ glasses, flat tone carrying strong resolve: “Calm; such a monster won’t have a second... or third!”

As he finished, the upper screen showed disconnect. The monster stretched and exited the curtain, looking refreshed.

“Haa~ Thrilling; if slower, trouble if she countered...”

Club president and member: “...”

Duel under ten seconds, utterly crushed their strongest, no retaliation. Still daring thrilling and trouble?

Such a mocker—if not beautiful, they’d real-world fight to teach... Wait, still couldn’t beat her real-world.

Fine, forget it.

“What? Do I look weird?”

Asuna blinked, seeming to understand, awkwardly scratching cheek: “True, movements not standard. I know, but what to do! Not my avatar, weapon not usual. Max output seventy to eighty percent.”

“...”

Numb and speechless, the club president and member stayed silent, letting the girl before them brag like the world’s richest saying he doesn’t know money-making.

The other curtain suddenly opened; a bob-haired, glasses-wearing, pale, thin girl shyly walked out.

“Konno-san?”

Seeing her, Asuna immediately smiled gently, about to greet.

“Yii!” The girl weakly screamed, body flashing, hiding behind the curtain again.

Asuna kept raised hand, awkwardly frozen.

After a while, she slowly turned, cheeks twitching slightly, smile very strange.

“A-Am I that scary?”

Both nodded seriously.

Smile fading, Asuna narrowed eyes.

Both quickly shook heads, final survival struggle.

Asuna tiredly sighed, no intent to pursue—the game done, brother’s task complete. Time to find Yuu.

“Then, hope your stall succeeds more. I have other business; bye~”

Smoothing her long, smooth brown hair, Asuna casually waved, walking to the door.

But two steps in, a soft voice from behind.

“U-Um, you won the arena; won’t you defend... There’s a prize...”

Asuna half-turned, indifferently smiling: “No need; I don’t know controlling power for others’ game experience. Better Konno-san as champion—“

Before finishing, a familiar voice from the outside crowd.

“I’m just helping a friend check the stall. You don’t all need to come in...”

Yuu turned slightly resignedly.

Now, not just his sister and two girlfriends, but even the two mothers and one older sister followed.

He thought after chatting and eating, everyone might disperse. He’d stated other business, couldn’t accompany the mothers around the festival.

But unexpectedly, they followed, noisily walking with him from school building skybridge deep into club building.

Not that after dating permission from mothers, he rushed to ditch them for dates with their daughters...

Just, Mama Yuigahama manageable, but Saori in kimono. Walking before Yukinoshita family’s two beautiful daughters, attention level not two-plus-one. Yuu turned often to answer mothers’ sometimes naughty, teasing, complex questions...

Tired! Annoying!

(My cultural festival shouldn’t be this heavy!)

Yuu missed morning, before meeting any mother...

“I’ll start cooking near evening, so no rush home now.” Pressing palm to smooth cheek, Mama Yuigahama smiled cheerfully: “So wherever Yui goes, I’ll follow~ Unless you want to separate mother and child, but our future son-in-law wouldn’t, right?”

Beside, Yuigahama looked helplessly despairing, as if given up.

Yuu dry-laughed: “Of course...”

“Though I must return for work, driver arrives later, so I’ll join Yukino and others for now.” Folding fan lightly tapped hand, Saori gently smiled, soft lips slightly curving: “Any trouble? Or Yukinoshita family unfit by your side?”

“Mother...” Yukino weakly protested, fully suppressed by Saori’s faint gaze.

“You exaggerate. Your presence makes me slightly embarrassed, almost不敢 appear in corridor.” Yuu forced lip twitch control, meaningfully mocking.

Saori unconcerned, opened fan with clash, casually: “Then no issue. Relax, I’ll hide behind Haruno and Yukino to not burden you.”

“...”

Headache expression, Yuu stopped outside crowd.

Then resigned sigh, other hand pointing to Virtual Game Research Club spectator crowd.

“Now I must enter this club. You all want to squeeze with me, bodies sweaty?”

“...”

Women behind immediately silent, expressions stiff.

Soon, Sora decisively turned, walking to shaded stairs: “I’ll wait outside.”

“Ah, Sora, wait~” Chasing Sora, Yuigahama questioningly looked at Yukino.

Yukino quickly understood, nodded without hesitation, stood beside, escorting Sora and Yuigahama mother-daughter leaving virtual club front.

“Yukino-chan staying? Then I...” Haruno about to step, pulled back by mother grasping sleeve end.

“You accompany me rest; I don’t want crowd squeeze.”

“Tch, as expected...”

Soon, original noisy seven-person team left just them two.

Yuu looked down beside; she looked up at him.

Both understandingly smiled, pinkies briefly touching beside, separating as if nothing.

“Alright, let’s go.”

Yuu about to enter crowd to clear for Yukino, but sleeve tugged.

Similar movement, again showing genetic inheritance.

“Let me; you follow behind.”

Saying, Yukino pulled armband from pocket, put on, face serious, loudly shouting to front crowd:

“Excuse me, Cultural Festival Committee now inspecting. Please make way!”

All turned, seeing committee chair armband, consciously parting, straight path to clubroom.

Yuu followed behind, whispering: “Okay? I recall you dislike abusing power.”

“Dislike, so my action has three bases.”

Her beautiful honest profile, like morning-blooming lily: “One, Virtual Game Research Club’s activity has electrical short risk, committee notes strong patrol object. I’m just passing to duty.”

“Two, purpose. You promised friend to guard stall, so equipment safety check, proper use, your responsibility, right? As committee chair escorting you in not wrong, let alone power abuse.”

Here, she suddenly stopped, not continuing.

Yuu noticed, curiously asking: “Then third?”

Yukino stared ahead, seeming to keep calm, but red tint on white skin clear. Lips pursed awkwardly.

“...Want to help you, so you praise me, or something.”

A shy voice softer than mosquito in noisy environment.

But she knew, the one behind surely heard.

“Though people watching, I can’t do anything, but...”

Soon, Yuu smiled, voice also clearly audible in such environment: “Thanks, Yukino. You helped a lot, head pat~”

“Don’t use tone like comforting a child!” Yukino slightly awkwardly huffed, flicking long hair to cover face side so he wouldn’t see.

But Yuu still felt it. Like a happy cat raising tail, Yukino clearly in good mood.

Both exited crowd, quickly finding glasses-wearing virtual club president.

“Your equipment safety concerns big, especially four high-power simultaneous, easy short hazards.”

Before outsiders, Yukino’s tone always flat undeniable, not cold but unapproachable: “Please allow recheck sockets and extension cords per school rules.”

“Understood. Member X, escort committee chair there.”

Club president pushed glasses, ordering member to guide Yukino check cables. Deep lens-hidden eyes shifted to Yuu.

“Tenkuji-kun, accompanying committee chair, or...”

“Just helping friend check stall. Seems you set up well.” Yuu scanned virtual club layout. Curious gaze swept from crowded trial area to empty arena, slightly raised brow, not asking directly.

“Friend?” The corpse-like flat-faced club president rarely showed clear surprise: “The friend you mean, don’t tell me...”

“Yes, Yuuki Kouichirou, Kou-niisan. The otaku student lending helmets.” Yuu smiled: “Not distrust, he asked me stop by look, help if issues... I used these machines same period as Kou-niisan. Should understand better than you.”

“...I see.” Club president pursed lips. Oily nose bridge kept pushing glasses. Dazzling glasses flash exploded.

Born flat-faced, eyes hidden behind thick lenses, Yuu didn’t notice his complex strange mood. Instead pointed to arena area asking: “After changing tournament to arena, this empty?”

“No, not...” After seconds silence, seeming word-thinking, club president slowly spoke.

“Actually, a strong challenger came. After replacing our arena champion, kept slaughtering onstage newbies, no game experience. Eventually, no one wanted onstage slaughter by him.”

Hearing, Yuu frowned: “Such trash player? Why not kick offstage? Committee can help anytime?”

“No, set game rules must follow. This is Virtual Game Research Club pride!”

Club president strongly shook head. Flat face suddenly showed marble-like firm lines.

“Bullied by others our fault for weakness. Now wait for him bored up there, then recruit customers to challenge arena.”

“I see.” Yuu suspiciously eyed him. Though smelling lie, couldn’t see emotion change from corpse face. Of course, didn’t know what the club president hid or lied.

But speaking of strong challenger related to Sword Art World game, first in Yuu’s mind naturally far-at-girls-academy Asuna.

She likely the only super-strong player matching him. Full-power Asuna as arena champion, no one but him could beat.

Glancing curtained two-curtain arena area, Yuu thought briefly, quickly gave up Asuna guess.

First, she schools in neighboring city, no reason for Soubu Cultural Festival.

Second, club president used male pronoun, current arena screen avatar male. Basically separated from female pronoun.

Finally, Asuna not unreasonable. Her nature at most one challenge itch, then leave to avoid trouble. Impossible deliberately cause issues.

Thinking this, Yuu unconsciously relieved sigh, then to club president:

“I’ll help expel him.”

“Then gladly accepted.”

“?”

(This guy, why agree so quick and firm?)

Noticing Yuu’s growing doubt eyes, club president pushed glasses, sweating despite late December winter.

But didn’t explain intent, respectfully extended hand, directing to curtained seat: “Please help. He really troubled us. Defeat that inhumanly strong one.”

“...Understood.”

Sharp eyes observed glasses man top to bottom. Though accepting request, Yuu turned back every step, staring club president until forehead sweat more, nearly streaming down stiff face.

Until his figure truly vanished behind curtain, club president suddenly leaned on knees exhausted, removed glasses, wiped forehead sweat with collar.

“This eye pressure...”

Not finished sighing, suddenly looked up.

In blurry world, someone poked head from curtain, staring straight.

Suddenly extended two fingers, first pointing own eyes, then distant him—after, pulled head back.

Club president: “...”

Warning that [Every move watched]?

(Damn, why around Yuuki-senpai all weirdos...)

Club president felt very tired, really wanted to game.

“Where’d he go?” Yukino returned after power check, only seeing gloomy club president standing, not seeing boyfriend.

“He went to fight for us.” Club president answered hoarsely, pointing upper screen.

Yukino looked up.

On green grasslands, robed silhouette slowly solidified, while opposite male avatar stood slowly, as if long waiting.

Meanwhile, on skybridge connecting school and club buildings.

Utaha controlled emotions, determined no future anger over Yuu matters.

She’d faced very bad situation, entangled by very bad notebook. Why self-harm over others?

Didn’t Dazai Osamu say?

[Anger is torturing oneself over others’ mistakes, irrational act.]

...Seemed not Dazai Osamu, but whatever.

Following their steps from afar, arrived before virtual club office.

Utaha observed distant, until seeing them split two. Two entered clubroom, others rested corridor, then deep breath, long black-stockinged legs walking there.

(I know them, they don’t know me...)

Somehow, Utaha’s heart slightly nervous.

First met silver ponytail beautiful girl. Yuu’s sister, family far more important than his life.

Notebook even wrote siblings each other’s existence reason, perhaps only them worldwide exaggerated so.

When unconsciously looking her way, Sora looked too. Both briefly stunned.

Then, Sora’s gaze naturally dropped to Utaha’s chest.

“...”

Withdrawing gaze, someone expressionlessly quickened pace.

Utaha couldn’t help slight smile—right, still a child. Couldn’t hide envious, jealous, hateful gaze at all.

After passing sister, met Yuu’s current girlfriend.

Yuigahama Yui, liked him since middle school. Failed confession, second year high school friends again. Previous three tasks just background or loser.

This task finally promoted, but still not notebook-recognized main heroine... Pitiful pink girl.

“?”

Seeming feel pity gaze, Yuigahama confusedly turned, then frowned thinking hard slightly annoyed.

Utaha didn’t wait her recall who, continued walking as if nothing.

Mama Yuigahama, unknown. Notebook little info, passed.

Mother Yukinoshita, unknown. But both daughters kidnapped by someone, two tests he easily passed. Really bad fate with Tenkuji... Hard being mother.

Finally Haruno.

Only one there whose beauty and body matched hers. Most noted in notebook, most making one unsure admire or pity.

Yuu’s former first girlfriend, one whose past and future memories returned.

Only she successfully resisted three-reset world.

“...”

Mood immediately serious. Utaha dared not look long, desperately keeping expression calm—notebook wrote Haruno’s observation and sensitivity rivaled Yuu.

Who Yuu? Light novel protagonist world reset three times for, constantly changing girlfriends, all-round perfect monster.

One notebook equated to him, definitely not easy to mess with.

Like walking back-forth before sleeping lion, holding tense muscles and pounding heart, Utaha kept same pace, gently flicking flowing black hair, naturally passing with natural expression.

One meter, two meters.

Secretly relieved sigh.

“Wait a moment.”

“!?”

Breath held again. Back to voice, Utaha’s face paled like choked.

Unconsciously stopped, expression quickly changed. Deep breath mental prep, at least outwardly calm.

Then, slowly turned.

“Excuse me...”

“Mother, new driver just called; been circling outside long. Hopes specific pickup time.”

“Fine, we’ll return after Tenkuji-kun exits... So tell driver circle around here again.”

“I know~”

Haruno raised phone, turned seeming feel something.

Long-haired beautiful girl just passed already entered virtual club office. Earlier “Excuse me~” seemingly not for her.

“But both long black hair, both beautiful, why Yukino’s chest so flat?”

“From personal experience, Yuu-chan likes beautiful big-chested girls!”

“If not forced by God to date someone, maybe Yukino-chan never chance, right?”

About to grin pleased, Haruno suddenly recalled her situation, couldn’t laugh at all, only sullenly call.

While Utaha, successfully escaping contact with Yuu’s girlfriends, struggled through crowd gaps to corner, relieved sigh in luckily empty spot.

“Though fine if she talked. No enmity with them, no need fear anything...”

But since notebook entanglement, seemed sensitive cautious. Tried avoid issues, prepare well before acting.

Feeling relaxed, Utaha tiptoed, didn’t see Yuu in club office. Habitually pulled notebook, ready see what other side did meantime.

Flipping inner page, line slowly appeared per wish.

「13:28, Tenkuji Yuu and Yukinoshita Yukino enter Virtual Game Research Club room...」

「13:31, Tenkuji Yuu agrees with Virtual Game Research Club president to defeat Yuuki Asuna from arena champion position...」

“What the hell, just came to play games...”

Utaha sneered, disgustedly closing notebook, sighing wasted time again.

Just about to turn leave find good outside spot continue surveillance, suddenly realized something, face froze.

“Asuna, game, defeat from champion position...”

She remembered, Asuna Yuu’s second girlfriend. Met in online game...

Red slowly fading from face, Utaha slowly looked up, eyes wide at arena screen.

Two male avatars faced, one holding long sword, one sheathing one-handed at waist, seeming talking, no sound.

And she knew, behind one male avatar, a girl named Asuna—brown-haired long swordswoman once cooperated with Yuu through many online game hardships.

“By the way, She will stab Tenkuji Yuu’s heart... Not specified real world or virtual game.”

Utaha couldn’t help relieved smile.

She knew, how could real-world yandere murder-lover exist?

No need risk prevent murder, great—

“Great what! This even harder to stop, right?!”

Whole body filled rage. Utaha couldn’t help throwing notebook to floor again, distorted face stomping.

boo, stopping just when they meet is cruel. Asuna has been my fav so far. Even though I like Yukino development here, Asuna is still at the top.
