Title: Ono Re Yukinoshita!
Morning classes weren’t much different from previous days—just self-study or watching films. Yuu, as usual, spent the time reading.
This time, the book was a French classic: In Search of Lost Time.
A stream-of-consciousness literary work like this—and the original edition, full of French—was truly hard for ordinary people to read. Just flipping pages could make one dizzy.
One needed adequate French proficiency and patience to empathize with the protagonist’s inner world before, midway through, gradually gaining reading pleasure and recognizing its essence as a literary masterpiece.
As for Yuu’s French ability—since he never acquired related skills—he wasn’t very fluent, at least in speaking. He was already satisfied that, thanks to Expert Learning, he could read French novels without translation from zero in under ten hours.
Conversely, Yukino—who strongly recommended the book and tried to be his French teacher—was very dissatisfied.
“My request isn’t much. Can’t you be a little dumber? Or act like a carbon-based lifeform. Even though I love you deeply, dating an alien still causes some rejection.”
The cold girl who could say such words with a superior attitude—yet often blushed and secretly kissed him on empty stairs, or hugged him tightly, burying her face in his chest, inhaling deeply, then parting as if nothing happened after one or two minutes.
Those actions were as strong as wanting to carve her mark on his body. Those feelings were as beautiful as a kitten’s claws scratching his heart.
Moreover, during late-night calls, Yukino’s voice was always softer and more spoiled than usual—making Yuu’s ears itch.
Without her usual cold calm demeanor, she was just an innocent naive girl. When discussing her favorite novel’s plot, her tone became excited and fluent. When sensing author bias, she’d pout and stubbornly criticize.
Before sleep—when hanging up—she’d softly huff reluctantly, but from the heart harbor hope, smiling gently:
“See you tomorrow, Tenkuji-kun.”
He’d forgotten what he said in the past—but current Yuu felt Yukino was truly fascinating.
Pure, intelligent, honest beauty that wasn’t annoying—it was a treasure only he possessed.
Every day and night, he felt the growing feeling in his chest—storing many memories of her. Just recalling—warmth overflowed from him.
Even midday—calling her at the stair corner to discuss something—Yuu unconsciously smiled. The white breath from his mouth seemed to outline her.
“Darling—can you take the call now?”
“I hope when asking that—you use an opener that won’t cause misunderstandings.” The soft voice on the other end sighed helplessly—but like him, couldn’t hold laughter in her tone.
“What’s up? If business—texting should be easier, right?”
Yuu said seriously: “No way. My ears would protest my fingers. What they want is you—not an emotionless dialog box.”
“Don’t sweet-talk.” Yukino—used to such words—was unmoved like frozen ice. “Eating lunch at the Service Club?”
“Saying ‘go’ instead of ‘come’ means you’re still in class—and not planning to go to the club later, right?”
“Correct guess—unfortunately no prize.”
Leaning relaxed against the wall, Yuu huffed: “Joking—usually I’m the one giving you prizes, okay?”
“...Hehe—so you think that way.”
Silence on the line. Then laughter—filled with danger thin as ice.
“I see. For tonight’s hot pot party—look forward to it well.”
But Yuu not only didn’t apologize—he continued provocatively: “Hmph—you talk big—don’t disappoint me later.”
“Relax—I won’t.”
Yukino snorted several times—making Yuu look pleased.
Don’t misunderstand. It was like an elementary boy always angering the girl he likes.
Yuu deliberately provoked Yukino because he wanted to see her various reactions—shy, annoyed, or cute. He just wanted to see her sides unknown to others. He wanted to store all of Yukino in his heart—and enjoy this beauty alone.
So—he absolutely didn’t expect evil thoughts for her to break through shame and do ‘stimulating play’ on him.
Such dirty disgusting thoughts—though he... had many in his head—he definitely wouldn’t admit voluntarily!
“Back to the main topic. I’ll eat lunch with Yuuki-san and Natsukawa-san this afternoon—what about you?”
Weird combination?
Yuu couldn’t help raising brows—becoming slightly curious.
But recalling Yukino earlier saying Class J’s homeroom teacher asked her to accompany transfer student Asuna around school—plus Masuzu’s meddling nature—three-person lunch didn’t seem too strange.
If Yuu was too shocked—it’d make him look guilty. So—for now he set aside unnecessary thoughts, saying normally: “I’ll eat a ‘farewell dinner’ with Totsuka in the cafeteria. After all—we won’t meet for about two weeks—and we never hung out. Better gather now.”
Yukino said half-sighing half-joking: “Totsuka-kun again? Your same-sex friend really is just him...”
“Why—are you jealous?”
“I won’t be jealous of a guy.” After cold reply, Yukino suddenly asked, “What about Yuigahama-san?”
Yuu found it odd: “Didn’t she say in the group she’s eating with Miura and others today?”
“No—I mean...”
For some reason—her voice sounded slightly worried and careful.
“Is she really looking forward to tonight’s hot pot party?”
“Probably? I didn’t see her hating it.”
Yuu frowned thinking a moment. Recalling this morning’s Yuigahama—he became less confident.
“Hmm... I feel she’s hiding something. Should I ask her?”
“No need—I know what she’s thinking.” As if expecting it, Yukino sighed softly. “Don’t worry. It’s not a big deal... After today—maybe everything will be fine.”
“Can you tell me?”
Yuu spoke seriously—but Yukino suddenly laughed relaxedly, counter-teasing: “Idiot—how can I tell you, my boyfriend, about girl-talk between girlfriends? Remember—you’re two-timing now.”
“What does that have to do with two-timing? I just want to give advice...”
“I don’t need your advice. Anyway—you’ll understand sooner or later.”
Cutting Yuu off without chance, Yukino then softened her tone—saying gently:
“Then—see you after school.”
Without waiting for reply—she ended the call. She pocketed her phone—and sighed softly.
“After everything’s done—I’ll properly apologize to Yui...”
Though her heart was sad and guilty—she had no regrets at all.
She closed her eyes—and when opening again—only determination and fearless advance remained.
What Yukino asked of Yuigahama was very simple.
Letting her enjoy Yuu alone for one day—or more precisely—one night.
This was of course an excessive request for Yuigahama—also a girlfriend.
...But Yuigahama probably guessed what she wanted to do, right?
That’s why she agreed so easily—and cooperated hiding it from Yuu.
From their first meeting—Yukino knew Yuigahama was very gentle.
Even knowing she might steal a head start—even saying such sly words—she didn’t hesitate—handing over the very important Christmas Eve date to her.
If it was Yukino—she might hesitate long before forcing agreement.
Thus—when hearing Yuu say Yuigahama looked down—Yukino secretly felt relieved—and even a bit lucky.
(Thank goodness—she’s not indifferent... She’s just pretending to be fine so I won’t worry.)
To her—Yuigahama and Yuu were equally important. They were the people she valued most in this world—besides family.
Honestly helping them—being honestly helped by them—and honestly admitting she owed someone.
These were things past Yukino couldn’t do—and growth she was proud of now.
Because of this—she had one more reason to step toward the future—
Repaying Yuigahama today.
“So—I won’t forget.”
Clutching her chest—Yukino softly swore to herself.
Then she stepped—returning to Class J.
Three desks and chairs in the back row had been joined into a large table. Masuzu—the main worker—wiped nonexistent sweat from her forehead—giving a fake bright smile.
“Yukinoshita-san—welcome back! First time eating with classmates by joining desks—so fun~”
Lazily glancing—she sat in her seat. Taking out her lunch—she said flatly: “Is it appropriate for someone who came alone to say that?”
Masuzu’s smile unchanged—but her tone clearly piercing: “I don’t know if appropriate—at least I have no worries now~ Unlike a certain beauty—wrinkles almost appearing between her brows. So pitiful.”
“That has nothing to do with you.”
“Did I say it does? I’m just waiting to watch a good show.”
“Speaking of good shows—you seemed to perform many in the past. I still remember how pitiful your performance was then. Hope you don’t mind.”
“Same to you. After all—you’ll sooner or later become the next me—and then—I’ll record your far more pitiful expression.”
“Please say that nonsense in your dreams.”
“Same—being too optimistic isn’t good.”
Word for word—like swords slashing mercilessly at the opponent—but always failing to defeat the equal.
Though neither looked at each other—invisible colliding sparks burned the air—producing a scorched smell.
“Uh—that...”
Asuna—sandwiched between them—looked awkward.
Though she didn’t understand what they were arguing about—or why eating together despite clearly bad relations—but since both were the people she knew best in the new school—she tried easing the atmosphere with awkward laughter:
“By the way—you both brought bentos? Did you make them yourselves? Mine was prepared by the housekeeper. Though I want to make my own—unfortunately I can’t wake early. Thinking to practice cooking during winter break.”
Easing the cold indifferent atmosphere—Yukino took out her bento. Following Asuna’s ladder—she said flatly: “Yes—I live alone—so I cook three meals myself.”
“Eh~ Amazing~” Clasping hands exclaiming—Asuna then turned to Masuzu. “What about Natsukawa-san?”
“Mine’s factory-made.”
Masuzu smiled mysteriously.
“Eh?”
Under Asuna’s shocked gaze—Masuzu pulled a jelly drink pouch from her pocket—proudly shaking it before her eyes.
“Latest Weider in! Nutritious and tasty—and saves lots of eating time~”
“T-that so...” Mouth corners twitching slightly. Asuna tilted her head confused. “Natsukawa-san—your lunch every day is just jelly drinks...”
“Problem? For personal reasons—I don’t like eating much—so I’m used to using jelly drinks for nutrition and meal replacement.”
Masuzu shrugged. After casual explanation—she suddenly smiled staring at Yukino.
“Yuuki-san—no need to worry about my nutrition balance. At least my body development is perfect—far better than certain people who eat normally.”
“...”
Asuna didn’t dare respond. She just carefully observed Yukino’s expression from the corner of her eye.
Unexpectedly—her reaction was very calm. This calm relaxed appearance instead made Masuzu’s provocation seem very childish.
“Let’s eat first. I’m not used to talking while eating—please understand.”
Casually opening her bento box—Yukino took her chopsticks—softly saying itadakimasu.
Asuna realized. She hurriedly opened her bento—preparing to enjoy lunch in this awkward silent atmosphere... Though because of the two—she truly lost appetite.
“Alright—I apologize.”
As if all pretense suddenly vanished—Masuzu suddenly bowed apologizing to Yukino—tone very sincere.
But ignoring her reaction—after lifting head—Masuzu twisted open the jelly drink cap. Setting aside all deliberate provocation and targeting—she said casually:
“I thought I could test your current plan—but didn’t expect you to hold back this far. Instead—I feel like a clown... Though unpleasant—I can only honestly admit defeat.”
“Congratulations—Yukinoshita-san—you win.”
Asuna: “...”
What did winning or not mean? Were these two starting ‘riddle speaker’ mode again?
She held her chopsticks—trying to reduce presence—and obediently did what a background should.
“Sorry—I always win.”
Only after swallowing food in her mouth did Yukino speak slowly—answering Masuzu flatly: “I roughly understand your goal—but anyway—all your little moves now are just futile—and won’t affect us at all.”
“No—you don’t understand.” Masuzu shook her head. She smiled mischievously like teasing. “I have no goal—at least for now.”
Yukino couldn’t help frowning. She finally looked directly: “Then—everything you said earlier was because you were bored and wanted trouble?”
“Half true.” Masuzu raised one finger. “The other half—because there’s something I want to know.”
She slightly narrowed eyes. The smile at her lip corners suddenly vanished—turning into a very serious expression.
“Yukinoshita Yukino—are you planning to end everything today? Considering tonight is Christmas Eve... How far do you want to go?”
“...”
Her azure eyes rippled slightly. Yukino pursed lips a bit—staring silently.
(...True—Natsukawa-san doesn’t know Yuuki-san is also an ex-girlfriend—so she speaks vaguely—using shallow hints like this to probe.)
(Yuuki-san’s situation might be the same.)
Though Yukino didn’t know if the other had regained past memories—what was certain was Asuna also didn’t know about ‘the ex-girlfriends’—after all—if she said nothing—this side had no obligation to reveal that info.
Since Asuna didn’t know the truth—it was natural she felt confused by Masuzu’s words now.
“Haaah...”
After understanding these—Yukino drew a soft breath—then slowly exhaled.
Shifting gaze—her slender fingers held chopsticks. She continued eating gracefully—elegantly—and calmly.
“Yes or no—that has nothing to do with you. Just look forward to tomorrow—and—remember every minute and second now.”
“If you can’t remember—no matter how much you ask—it’ll be futile.”
Yukino also said this sentence to herself in her heart.
Thus—she would remember this anticipation for tomorrow deeper than anyone.
She would—definitely change the ending she believed in.
“You...”
Masuzu stared half a moment. She suddenly sucked the jelly drink hard as if venting frustration—and choked.
“Pu—cough cough... Tch—evil person! I even saw JOJO’s golden spirit and determination light in you. Must’ve been my mistake... After all—if I knew so much beforehand—I definitely could’ve done better than you now...”
Hearing that reluctant mutter—Yukino lifted eyelids—and for the first time gave her a sincere smile.
“In this world—there aren’t many ‘ifs’. Facts prove—I’m doing far better than you now, Natsukawa-san.”
Wiping her wet lip corners—Masuzu raised brows mockingly: “You? I can already imagine you crying and nauseous in bed after waking.”
Yukino covered mouth surprised: “Oh—so you were that pitiful? Truly sad...”
“Ono Re Yukinoshita! Just wait until I really remember—I’ll keep repeating our intimate process in your ears!”
“Natsukawa-san is so childish. Seems I was too harsh on you in the past...”
“Haha—hope you’re not too harsh on your body shape either.”
“...This is the second time. There won’t be a third.”
“You think I’m scared? Dare to try?”
“...”
As an observer—Asuna hadn’t even finished her third bite of rice. The two before her had started mocking each other again.
She sighed helplessly.
Though she still didn’t understand what they were arguing about—but seeing their expressions—she could guess it was definitely something very boring and meaningless.
Moreover—though they seemed to argue fiercely—they had no intent to truly get angry...
Was this because they disliked each other—or because they had a good relationship in a different way?
While thinking—Asuna quickly gave up pondering. She continued being an obedient observer—doing nothing but eating.
Only occasionally—a very strange thought popped into her mind—without basis—
(Maybe—I should join them too?)
◆━⊰✧⊱━◆
After some lunch break rest—the closing ceremony started—ending around 2 PM.
After waving goodbye to Totsuka—and promising to find a day during winter break to play tennis at the city court—and seeing Yuigahama still had much to say to Yumiko and friends—Yuu took his school bag—and went to the Service Club first.
But not long after arriving at the special building—he received a notification message from Yukino.
「Change meeting place to the station—we’ll buy ingredients together.」
-
Title: Dare You Answer If I Call You Wife?
When leaving school, Yuu was still wondering why they didn’t just meet at the school gate—it was closer.
Only after seeing Yukino waiting alone at the station did he realize: if Yuigahama wasn’t there, the two of them walking side-by-side out the school gate would definitely spark a lot of talk.
Though meeting at the station was also risky, there was the principle of small hiding in the woods, big hiding in the city. As long as they blended into the crowd, the chance of drawing attention dropped drastically. They wouldn’t have to worry about being surrounded and gossiped about, making interaction here far more relaxed than inside school.
...Actually, as long as they didn’t do anything too intimate and kept distance, meeting at the school gate wouldn’t be a problem either.
After all, the film had been made, explanations given. Everyone who cared knew he and Yukino had a very good relationship, and he was the boyfriend of her best friend. Those still gossiping now were just busybodies who didn’t care about rumors—and the comments they stirred weren’t even rumors, just idle gossip, not worth minding.
But since Yukino proactively considered everything, Yuu naturally had no reason to complain—and even felt a bit indebted... He only regretted that he and Yukino were too eye-catching. They were almost like the so-called school stars, unlike some ordinary manga protagonists who dated multiple girls, hugged everywhere, yet no one cared.
The most important point: Sobu High students were too relaxed. Every day someone turned the school forum into a social media spam spot, enthusiastically discussing.
Sighing soundlessly, Yuu smiled and walked toward the black-haired girl under the bus stop sign.
“Yo—waited long?”
Yukino stood straight there. Her petite face covered by a scarf looked elegant and sweet. Her azure eyes seemed cold but were full of care and hope scanning the crowd. Her smooth black hair clung to her slim back. Her entire self was as beautiful as the most precious crystal statue in the Louvre.
Hearing the voice, the girl’s searching eyes finally caught his figure.
Thus the cold ice slowly melted into warm water. Her thin soft lips naturally curved, like a cat slowly relaxing its arched back, tail unconsciously touching the ground.
“Not long—I just arrived too.”
She said smiling. Her voice wasn’t as cold and sharp as usual—just warm soft gentleness.
“Is the script standard?” Yuu narrowed his eyes comfortably. He held back the urge to pat her head, asking with a smile.
“Standard?” Yukino slightly tilted her head, not quite understanding.
Yuu walked past her. She turned too—without any signal. They both walked side-by-side toward the station.
“I mean—when couples date, isn’t it the guy who says this line to the late girl?”
“Ngh—maybe...” Yukino pinched her chin as if pondering, but suddenly lifted a teasing smile, staring at him with sparkling eyes.
“But the one saying the female lead’s line is Yuu-kun, right? Though I can’t say you’re late—I sincerely suggest you say that line again, and make it more complete.”
“Hah? You think I’ll listen to your advice and say—” Yuu paused, then squirmed and pretended to be spoiled in Yukino’s voice, “Sorry, Darling—made you wait~ I didn’t mean to be a bit late~—words like that?”
Yuu sneered, changing back from that very similar female voice: “Don’t be naive—I’m a real man—I’d never do something that damages dignity!”
“Your dignity isn’t worth anything—like konpeito dropped on the ground...”
Her face paled as if wanting to vomit. Yukino frowned and covered her mouth with her hand, glancing at him with cold eyes: “Also—never speak in my voice again... Seriously—this has gone beyond disgusting to terrifying.”
“If you don’t like it—I won’t do it again.” Yuu promised smiling, seeming to find her expression very funny.
“Really...” Sighing wordlessly—but understanding Yuu wasn’t messing around—Yukino didn’t mind much more, her expression softening.
They both stood on the platform, looking at the still-empty train tracks.
“Where’s Yui? Isn’t she coming?”
“Hmm—we’ll shop at the supermarket near the apartment. We shouldn’t meet same-school students there... Unless bad luck—and we happen to run into Natsukawa-san.”
“If we do meet—I think it’s no longer a matter of luck...”
The train arrived, lifting the girl’s silk-like hair. Fresh scent mixed with faint rich aroma. Natural purity mixed with temptation like a newly bloomed rose.
Yuu deliberately lagged two steps. This was the first time he felt breathing was such a beautiful thing.
“What’s wrong?”
“I like your scent.” Yuu had given up lying to Yukino.
“...Pervert.” Yukino uncomfortably tidied her hair a bit, and with her eyes ordered him to take the spot by the train door ahead. She stood opposite—with distance so he couldn’t smell her. “You really surprised me, Tenkuji-kun—getting excited in public.”
“It has nothing to do with the place—only with the person.” After serious correction, Yuu added, “Also—appreciating beauty isn’t limited to visual. Real men have the right to smell roses. You’re too focused on appearance, Yukinoshita-san.”
Afternoon crowds weren’t many. After the few boarding passengers, a hissing sound—and the train slowly closed doors.
In the slightly noisy environment, Yukino lifted her lip corners. She smiled at him as if knowing everything. She said proudly and confidently: “You talk a lot—but you’re just hiding the fact you’re attracted to me. If this weren’t the train—you’d desperately want to hug this perfect me right now, right?”
“Don’t talk nonsense!”
Yuu immediately widened his eyes. Like a child misunderstood by parents—he hurriedly defended: “I’m not hiding anything—I’m really attracted to you! If you don’t believe—listen to my heartbeat. I always dare to admit what I feel—”
“Enough, enough—I know! Can’t you give a normal answer?!”
Seeing him about to reach out to hug her, Yukino hurriedly pushed the approaching chest—her expression somehow evasive.
When she backed to the train door side—she glared at him angrily, face looking innocent. Yukino slightly bit her soft lips—her milky white skin emitting red from embarrassment.
“Please distinguish the place. Do you really want all our Cultural Festival efforts to be wasted?”
Yuigahama’s shadow flashed in his mind. He tried hard not to mind possible surrounding gazes—and deliberately showed anger, plus an unfamiliar cold attitude.
“Of course not. If I wasn’t sure we wouldn’t be caught—do you think I’d be this stupid?”
Yuu said seriously. He also signaled with his eyes for her to check the carriage situation.
In the Eavesdroppers’ Wall condition that turned out more comfortable and easier to use than expected—no one was looking their way, even the Sobu High uniform-wearing student sitting right across ignored them.
“How could this happen...”
After her quietly raised eyes scanned around, Yukino naturally realized something was wrong. Just as doubt rose in her heart—she quickly reacted.
(All strange events are related to him—and this time is probably no exception.)
(Tenkuji-kun knows that for unusual things—he had to go through very painful trials multiple times before explaining to them—knowing what words could be said and what couldn’t.)
So before Yuu tried explaining—Yukino stared straight—then sighed resignedly: “Anyway—don’t do such things outside. After returning to the apartment... Hugging is still allowed.”
“Understood, Yukino.” The tenderness in his eyes didn’t last more than three seconds. Yuu immediately smiled mischievously again. “Wait—this isn’t fair. Usually you kiss me whenever you want—why can I only hug?”
Yukino gave him a cold glare—then awkwardly cold-huffed. She turned—watching the fast-moving scenery outside the train window.
“Idiot—you don’t even understand subtle polite language. I really don’t know how you got first rank in your year.”
Her mocking tone fell to the ground—but hid a bit of girl’s embarrassment she didn’t want him to know.
They could always directly understand the meaning behind each other’s words—and now was no exception.
“Yukino...”
Yuu stared blankly at the faintly red ears visible between her hair. He unconsciously held his breath. He felt his chest suddenly hit hard.
Then his heart pumped—and blood flowed faster, wildly surging in his body.
(Damn—is this the feeling of a lamb entering the tiger’s mouth...)
He silently shook his head. With Mirror-Clear Heart he directly eliminated the strong urge filling his chest. Only then did he not exploit the Eavesdroppers’ Wall to directly hug this shy slim sweet girl on the train—venting his affection regardless of her feelings.
He knew he shouldn’t have such fantasies about her pure firm self—and he also had to think of Yuigahama, who might arrive just before the evening party started...
But Yuu still couldn’t help looking forward to alone time with her in the apartment.
◆━⊰✧⊱━◆
As if specially serving nearby residents, an unassuming small supermarket sat in the middle of the luxury residential area. Though product variety wasn’t much—basically all were good quality and affordable. No nuclear-contaminated ingredients—and one could find some high-end dry goods not in ordinary supermarkets.
Yukino usually bought ingredients here and took them home to cook—so she was very familiar with the place. Since she never met other classmates at this supermarket—she unconsciously let down her guard. The distance she deliberately kept outside gradually melted by unintentional physical touches.
“Since it can be finished today—let’s check the near-expiry and discount section first. You should be more professional than me at picking ingredients—so I won’t say much... Also—I know you’re very rich—but don’t waste. Just buy everyday hot pot ingredients.”
Pulling the shopping cart and heading straight inside the supermarket without hesitation, Yukino also advised Yuu like a young wife. She seemed very afraid he’d directly grab lobster, crab, and abalone from the freezer and toss them into the cart.
Though he didn’t mind—he still couldn’t help complaining:
“We’re not even married—why are you already managing my household finances?”
“I just hate waste.”
Used to his teasing, Yukino answered calmly while selecting ingredients: “With your personality—you’d definitely throw any tasty-looking ingredient into the cart without caring about price or if it can be finished. As a result—after supermarket shopping—you’d only realize at checkout you accidentally bought tens of thousands of Yen worth—so after marriage—I have to manage finances. Relax—I won’t be stingy to make you eat instant noodles every day.”
As if having a very strong obsession with this—she naturally revealed her marriage expectations—leaving no room for Yuu to retort.
Tucking her hanging black hair behind her ear, Yukino suddenly turned and asked: “Do you like beef or pork?”
“...Eat both.”
“Fine—then one portion each.”
Taking two meat boxes from the discount counter and putting them in the cart—she continued walking without stopping.
Behind, Yuu watched her beautiful curved hips with a weird expression. Then—slowly—he smiled like someone helpless against her.
Quickening steps—he approached her like a child, tone somehow excited.
“One box each isn’t enough. I alone won’t be full.”
“I know—but at this price—one box is plenty. I also don’t like eating too-cheap ingredients.”
“Great~ By the way wife—can I buy some expensive items? This is our first Christmas after dating—can’t be too ordinary, right?”
Yukino glanced at him flatly. She slightly frowned as if wanting to say something—but only sighed helplessly.
“...Not too much—go ahead.”
Yuu immediately bowed and thanked: “Thank you for my wife’s generosity!”
Yukino showed disgust with her eyes: “Pretending.”
“What’s wrong? You didn’t reject it either~”
Relying on the fact only they were around here, Yuu raised brows carelessly. Then—with lightning speed—he kissed her soft cheek, and walked toward the seafood counter with a wide grin.
If the situation wasn’t right—Yukino would definitely scold him until he knelt voluntarily.
“Idiot—he really loves teasing girls...”
She huffed through her nose, coldly staring at his disappearing back around the corner. She wiped the kissed spot—and pushed the cart with a cold face toward the next meat counter.
But not far after walking, Yukino suddenly took out the scarf she’d stored in her bag after entering. She wrapped it tightly around her face.
Then she bowed her head covering her face—hands strong as if wanting to strangle herself.
“Aaaahhh... It’s still so embarrassing—how can he be so thick-skinned!”
Yukino stomped the ground annoyed. The face behind the scarf was fever-hot. Waves of embarrassment continuously attacked her nerves—leaving her at a loss.
So—hiding in a supermarket corner no one could see—she let out a dying weak sound. After a long time—she released the scarf, looked up, and kept taking deep breaths. She also fanned her face with her hand—trying to quickly cool her red hot face.
Even this embarrassed confused feeling—from the heart—emitted unprecedented sweetness.
Her eyes unconsciously softened. The girl smoothed her slightly curved lip corners—and pushed the cart forward.
“By the way, wife...”
Sooner or later—she had to get used to this address.
-
Title: Losers, Unite (Not Really)
The afternoon light and shadows pierced through the dry branches. Thin, almost invisible shadows swept across the girl’s clear, shimmering silver hair.
Masuzu stopped in front of the supermarket. Through the glass window, she could see the couple inside, standing side by side at the shelves, picking items like newlyweds.
Occasionally, they turned to each other, their faces showing natural warmth and intimacy.
To avoid being noticed, she stood still for a few seconds, then slowly moved. She hid under the parking lot roof, leaned against the wall, and let out a long sigh.
“So beautiful… No matter how many times I see it, I feel so envious, to have happiness like that.”
Taking mineral water from her school bag, Masuzu gulped several sips, rinsing the sour taste in her throat into her stomach. She wiped her mouth as if nothing happened.
Then, a ready-to-act gaze appeared in her eyes, and a wicked smile hung at her lip corners.
“Hmph hmph hmph… Then, it’s time for the evil female lead to appear, and give the final trial to the couple about to reach this story’s end!”
(Yes, I’m doing this for your own good!)
(Won’t happiness that’s shattered become stronger when pieced back together?!)
The roof’s shadow created an evil mask on her face. Her bright blue eyes narrowed cruelly. Her body automatically struck a flirtatious Diavolo pose.
“Yes, I am Natsukawa Masuzu, the villain!”
Ignoring the strange looks from passing pedestrians, she shouted to cheer herself up. Masuzu turned and strode energetically toward the supermarket door, intending to cause trouble for the couple.
One step, two steps.
When she stepped into the afternoon sunlight again, she slowly stopped, bowed her head, and stood motionless.
After a long time, Masuzu suddenly lifted her face and let out a long sigh.
“Come to think of it, my past self was a real idiot… If I keep doing this, wouldn’t I be just like that person?”
Her father, Natsukawa Ryoji, was truly trash.
He used so-called feelings as bargaining tools and never thought of anything but his own interests. To succeed, he didn’t hesitate to leave his first wife for a political marriage and forcibly separate mother and child. This made Masuzu start hating everything related to love from then on.
Until now, the shattered happiness still hadn’t recovered. The hole remained in her life. Masuzu always couldn’t wait for it to be filled with warmth.
They say one always becomes like the person they hate most.
Those who hate parents forcing them to study hard end up enrolling their kids in many cram schools. Those forced to abandon dreams to inherit family business end up taking revenge by inflicting the same suffering on their children, so their childhood pain isn’t wasted—thus the chain continues generation to generation.
Though saying, “I’ll never become like that!”—as one ages, they unconsciously commit the same evils.
Hatred, unwillingness; jealousy, revenge; despair, schadenfreude…
Masuzu knew her mind was full of such negative thoughts. She didn’t mind being an evil woman committing all sorts of wrongs.
But even so, she had a line she couldn’t cross.
“The sparkling light of happiness~ After seeing something this beautiful with my own eyes, only trash would want to extinguish it.”
She brushed aside hair sticking to her lip corners. She gazed at the couple in the supermarket from afar. The mask on her face like water-soluble paint, gradually revealing a bitter yet relieved smile.
Of course she couldn’t do the same as her perverted dishonest father.
Compared to those obsessed with love, Masuzu clearly hated those who destroyed others’ happiness more.
Because, perhaps in this world, it truly exists. What’s called true love.
It’s not just loving each other, but willing to risk everything for the other’s life, willing to change for each other’s happiness, even if the process is painful and long.
As long as that person’s shadow is in the future, she won’t fear.
She didn’t hate, but longed for love like that… That’s why she wanted to protect it, and didn’t want to destroy it again.
“Then, it’s time for the antagonist to exit.”
One last longing look at Yuu’s back, Masuzu bowed her head. She lifted her lip corners with a smile she considered cool and elegant, and turned calmly.
Then, wiping unwilling tears from her face, she took a deep breath and looked at the gray sky shrouded in thick clouds.
“Though I don’t know what you want to do… But, you have to succeed!”
(Making this sky clear—that’s your goal.)
Or more precisely, the goal of everyone who loves Yuu.
(Things I couldn’t do, things we all couldn’t do… I leave them all to you, Yukinoshita.)
Masuzu laughed mockingly. She then stepped forward, choosing a small alley no one would see, walking toward the apartment.
◆━⊰✧⊱━◆
Had her past self ever embraced happiness’s light like that?
Had her past self ever been the unique true love in his eyes?
Had her past self ever crossed the chasm of hatred and seen the beautiful scenery under a clear sky?
Ha, if she couldn’t remember, forget it.
After all now, though turning her back on happiness not hers, her chest could warm because of their existence.
That was enough.
A story ending like this suited her who could only cause trouble.
Just, next time…
Or every minute and second from now…
If the light of happiness between you fades…
I’ll make it fully mine, body and soul, like I once said!
The dream hasn’t faded, current Natsukawa Masuzu still stands firm on earth!
◆━⊰✧⊱━◆
“Masuzu!”
Suddenly, someone called her about to enter the small alley.
Slightly startled, Masuzu turned in surprise. Yuigahama stood not far in the supermarket’s shadow. She walked toward her with light steps.
“Da-Dango-chan? Why are you here…”
Yuigahama smiled brightly: “Of course I followed you. Thank goodness, you really didn’t notice!”
“What is this kid saying with such a relieved face?!”
Masuzu’s mouth corners twitched. Seeing her pat her chest in relief, she couldn’t help raising her voice:
“I clearly didn’t do anything wrong—why follow me?”
“Eh, do you think you have the position to blame me?”
Yuigahama slightly tilted her head. She scratched her cheek a bit confused, then said with a bitter smile: “And Masuzu, you’ve done all the wrongs. Isn’t it natural I thought to follow because I feared you’d disturb Yukinon and the others?”
“You—” Masuzu gritted teeth, glaring at her innocent face. But in the end, she couldn’t say any harsh words. She could only kneel on the ground in despair, like a super-level high school JOJO fan whose argument was crushed.
“Damn, can’t refute…”
“Well, ignore the small stuff.” Yuigahama quickly came to help her up, hugging her arm affectionately. “We’re now teammates in the same position. Forget past discomforts, and let’s get along well!”
“Are you storing all past discomforts and just treating me as a surface friend…” Masuzu said vaguely.
“No. I just want us to get along better than before!” Yuigahama quickly explained. Then she remembered something and couldn’t hold a happy smile.
“By the way, I’m really impressed with you, Masuzu? At first I thought you’d really go in and disturb Yuu-kun and the others’ date. Didn’t expect you’d choose to cry and leave, not wanting them to know you followed… So touching!”
“Don’t say disgusting things. I didn’t do anything praiseworthy… By the way, you—didn’t trust me from start to end?”
With a somewhat nauseous expression, Masuzu rubbed goosebumps on her arm. She glanced at Yuigahama laughing silly.
Suddenly realizing something, she couldn’t help observing her up and down. She asked with a weird gaze: “Wait, Dango-chan… You, as his official girlfriend, let him date Yukinoshita just like that, while you watch from outside like a loser dog like me?”
Before Yuigahama could answer, Masuzu quickly turned her brain and revealed the guess that kept emerging.
“Today is Christmas Eve, couples’ date and intimacy day. You not only didn’t join Yuu, but even seem to want to guard Yukinoshita… That means, you handed him over? No, shouldn’t need to. Logically, you should celebrate Christmas Eve together, even if intimate, you two might do it together. Only one reason you’re here—”
Before Masuzu finished, Yuigahama cut her off.
“Uh, Masuzu, girls should avoid saying censored words as much as possible.”
“Eh… Sorry, habit.”
“And, no need to guess—I’ll tell you directly!” Yuigahama turned, saying smiling: “Yes, Yuu-kun today belongs to Yukinon! She said she wants to spend Christmas Eve with him. Though I agreed, I still felt uneasy, so I followed and watched from behind. After they enter the apartment, I’ll go back.”
“Why her…” Not long after the question, Masuzu thought of the answer herself. “Yes, she wants to finish the task tonight.”
Yuigahama didn’t answer, but her expression was basically agreement.
Trying hard to organize her slightly chaotic thoughts, Masuzu still couldn’t help asking: “Though a bit late to ask now, where did she get that confidence… Dango-chan too, regardless of whether Yukinoshita succeeds or not in the end, a loving man and woman spending Christmas Eve alone—with just censored brain you know what’ll happen. Don’t you mind being overtaken first?”
“That’s why—use subtler words…” Yuigahama held her forehead as if headache. After helpless sigh, she said indifferently: “Hmm, I don’t mind. As long as Yukinon achieves her goal, the process doesn’t matter.”
Masuzu opened her mouth slightly, as if seeing a stranger. She couldn’t believe this was the Yuigahama she knew.
“…Wait, don’t tell me before this, you already tasted the forbidden fruit with him first?!”
Like a used iron doesn’t matter if used by a close friend, that’s why she’s so indifferent…
“No, no, no—not yet! Even if I wanted, I couldn’t find the chance, so I couldn’t do it at all!” Yuigahama defended with slightly red face. The unconscious strength added to her arm made Masuzu almost scream in pain.
Though her chest was big and soft, it’d hurt if gripped hard… Moreover, there was a coat and bra blocking.
Masuzu’s cheeks twitched slightly. She struggled to squeeze out a voice: “So… Don’t say you don’t care. If lying, find a better excuse, okay?”
“…”
After a moment of silence, Yuigahama slowly relaxed. The smile curve at her lip corners faded.
“Yes, actually I care a lot.”
She slightly turned her head. Though she couldn’t see inside the supermarket, her eyes still emitted warm bright light.
“I really want to go in now and talk to them. I really want to have the hot pot party with them. Even if I have to climb the stairs of adulthood with Yukinon on Christmas Eve, I wouldn’t feel hate or guilt… The me thinking like this might have been broken long ago.”
“However, it’s fine.”
Yuigahama shrugged. She pulled her gaze without hesitation. Only her firm eyes held the distant stretching road ahead.
“Yuu-kun’s happiness is my happiness. What Yukinon wants to do is what I want too. So I’ll support them unconditionally—that’s all.”
Though her figure wasn’t in it, it was fine, because she believed those two wouldn’t leave her alone either.
Seeing her expression, Masuzu was silent for a moment, then shook her head and said: “…I’m really impressed with you all. You’re all willing to sacrifice for him like this. Better form Yuu’s Crusade to attack that cursed God.”
“Ehehe~” Yuigahama showed a [You’re the same, daring to blame me] smile and rubbed her cheek affectionately.
“Hope God lives closer than Egypt, otherwise we have to wait for summer break to attack.”
“Before that, we need a way to surpass heaven.” After saying some JOJO-related jokes, Masuzu satisfiedly shifted the topic back on track.
“Though you say that, Dango-chan, in your heart you still feel very uncomfortable.”
“Yes, want to comfort me?”
Yuigahama tilted her head, eyes sparkling staring at her, as if expecting something.
Masuzu didn’t hesitate long. After deep breath, she waved her hand strongly as if resigned: “Fine, since today we’re both losers, let’s play together until tomorrow! Don’t lose to the two who’ll just flirt and be intimate all night!”
Yuigahama also raised her hand happily, exclaiming with a wide smile: “Okay! Tonight is girls’ night out. Let’s have fun! Yay—”
“But first, I must say, I basically have no experience hanging out with friends. Let alone sleepovers or inviting others. I have no idea what to do in times like this…” After dousing with cold water, Masuzu then suggested enthusiastically: “How about a special JOJO night? Even watching five anime parts, we won’t finish until tomorrow…”
“No, that’s too boring!” After firmly rejecting, Yuigahama thought a moment. Suddenly a brilliant idea flashed in her mind.
She couldn’t help clapping and cupping at her chin, laughing wickedly in a low voice.
“Hehe, how about inviting Haruno-san and Asuna-san too? That way, we can talk about Yuu-kun all night. Tomorrow morning, we can even raid Yukinon’s house and surprise them!”
“Hey, isn’t this really self-torture…”
Masuzu stopped mid-mockery. She realized something wrong in her words.
“Wait, I get inviting that Haruno woman… But what does Yuuki-san have to do with it?”
“…Ah.”
When she reacted, Yuigahama froze in place. Her face gradually turned pale as sand.
Masuzu then slowly widened her eyes. She stared at her starting to avert gaze in disbelief. Moments later, she spoke in an almost certain tone:
“Don’t tell me, Yuuki Asuna too…”

Leaving the supermarket, Yuu and Yukino each carried shopping bags full of ingredients. They slowly walked toward the luxury apartment where she lived.
On the way, Yuu suddenly broke the peaceful silence they maintained with tacit understanding. He said casually:
“Yukino, can I ask you one thing?”
“What?” Tilting her head confused, Yukino happened to meet his helpless yet gentle gaze.
“The three-person Christmas party is a lie, Yui actually won’t come.”
“…”

Title: Most Importantly, I Love You
So close—her voice and gaze so soft that one wanted to sink into them, surrendering thoughts amid that warmth.
Yet when his chest tightened, Yukino suddenly dared not meet his eyes. She only bit her lip slightly and averted her gaze.
“…When did you find out?”
Unconsciously, she pulled her scarf up as a cover. The muffled question was more a way to change the topic than genuine curiosity.
After all, long before deciding to do this, she knew she couldn’t hide it from him for long—the man loved by Yukinoshita Yukino wasn’t a fool. On the contrary, his observation and logical reasoning far surpassed hers. He could often see small details and grasp the big picture.
Moreover, just as she understood Yuu, he understood Yukino.
Lies and thoughts meant almost nothing between them.
So something this obvious—it was impossible Yuu hadn’t noticed. The difference was only a matter of time.
Even so, it was far quicker than Yukino estimated, leaving her no time to mentally prepare. It was like a boy secretly peeking at his crush’s underwear, only for her to suddenly shout it out before the entire class. Embarrassment completely overwhelmed her surprise. She dared not lift her head to face his gaze.
“I started noticing during our lunchtime conversation. After finishing shopping at the supermarket and seeing Yui hadn’t contacted me, I was almost certain.”
Shifting the shopping bags to his other hand, Yuu stroked her petite head. Looking at her beautiful side profile trying hard to stay calm, he smiled and said:
“We’re a couple, you know. You went through all that trouble just to spend Christmas Eve with me—aren’t you too embarrassed?”
“…That has nothing to do with embarrassment. A girl with even a little shame wouldn’t say words like that.”
Sighing resignedly, Yukino brushed his hand from her head. She flatly averted her gaze: “Besides, after I’m honest with you—how will you face Sora-chan?”
“Ah…”
Yuu couldn’t help but be startled. He indeed hadn’t thought this through carefully.
His own girlfriend naturally knew he hated lying and was extremely honest with his little sister.
As long as Sora asked—and it wasn’t something too important that truly couldn’t be said—Yuu would choose to tell the truth—
Just like this morning’s breakfast conversation. If Yukino had messaged earlier that she wanted to spend Christmas Eve with him, the moment he was asked where he was going and what he’d do with whom, he’d tell her directly without lying or making excuses.
First, it was habitual honesty toward his sister. Second, it was also care and respect for his girlfriend.
Even to date his girlfriend, she had to hide it. That was unavoidable outside—but at home, before his only family, Yuu didn’t want Yukino to keep feeling unfairly treated.
It didn’t matter if others said he worried too much. After all, all his girlfriends knew he was a troublesome and contradictory boyfriend.
…Of course, Yuu could easily imagine what would happen if Sora knew he was spending the night alone with his girlfriend.
The suffering he endured this morning might only count as an appetizer.
Though not impossible to handle, it would definitely require far more effort than now to calm his sister trying to be the third wheel.
Thinking this through, he could understand Yukino’s good intentions.
She wasn’t just covering her embarrassment—she also considered his personality and situation. That’s why she deliberately used the lie he hated most and was worst at—to kidnap him out and spend the night without worries…
Fully realizing this, Yuu couldn’t help observing the black-haired girl beside him again.
As if his gaze had temperature, behind her small white ear slowly emerged a tempting red flush. Yukino’s calm controlled expression began to waver.
Before Yukino could say anything, Yuu suddenly took a deep breath. His expression changed.
“Yukino—you even thought this far for me… You’re amazing!”
His eyes glistened with emotion. His voice trembled slightly from feelings. Yuu looked about to hug her on the street. He spread his arms and approached.
“Hah? What are you…”
As if a stranger rushed up and said incomprehensible things in Japanese with strangely enthusiastic attitude.
Yukino looked shocked, watching him approach affectionately.
Then she unconsciously stepped back half a step.
Feeling still unsafe, she retreated two more steps. After keeping distance, Yukino pressed her furrowed forehead. She glared angrily and said:
“Your acting is too over-the-top. I didn’t do anything that amazing either. Hurry and return to normal.”
“Yukino—Yukinoku.” Yuu ignored her. He stepped forward, held her hand—giving no time to escape.
He kept staring into her beautiful azure eyes—as if wanting to convey all his feelings through them.
“To me—your care is greater than the apple that hit Newton’s head! How can I prove my feelings to you…”
“Enough—that’s it.”
Resisting the urge to brush his hand away, Yukino strongly pursed her soft lips. She seemed to want to tighten her face and warn him coldly. But gazing at him—she still couldn’t hold back laughter.
“I know you want to lighten the mood a bit—but forget those disgusting love lines… If it happens again—I’ll seal your mouth with duct tape.”
Though her smile was friendly—her tone seriously radiated danger.
“Cough cough—forget games like that.”
Yuu hurriedly stopped his flirtatious act. He released her small hand and said seriously: “Compared to love words—you prefer real actions. Rest assured—I’ll talk less and act more in the future.”
“Good… Wait—no, it’s not that I won’t let you say it. Just don’t make it forced and exaggerated. Be more natural… Tch—forget it!”
Not knowing what confused her, Yukino sighed resignedly after momentary annoyance.
“Since you already noticed—I’ll be honest…”
“Yui indeed won’t come. She handed you to me today. Whether the hot pot party or staying at my place—there’ll only be us two.”
Though she had calmed her emotions with a deep breath before saying it—after the words left—her face still burned red. Her whole body felt hot like falling into a furnace. Her gaze wandered everywhere from embarrassment and panic.
Her white fingers gently twisted the long hair at her chest. Yukino’s pretending-to-be-calm appearance was about 3.14 times sweeter than usual.
“So that’s really it, huh.”
This unexpected yet reasonable fact made Yuu’s mood slightly complicated. He scratched his cheek like someone confused.
“Though just a guess—but Yukino…”
He paused. Seeing her drooping eyelashes—expression like awaiting punishment—he also grew serious, asking softly:
“You deliberately did this on Christmas Eve—it’s not just wanting romantic time alone with me.”
Yuu wasn’t a lustful high school boy. Regular dates maybe—but Yukino wouldn’t bother making such a lie just to have him stay one night—and even coordinate with Yuigahama beforehand.
Something understandable with careful thought—actually left little room for guessing.
Yuu knew… Or rather—standing before him now—he could somewhat feel it.
Yukino planned to end the task today. She wanted to use this chance to fully complete his request—and then—say goodbye to her status as girlfriend.
Yuu understood her reason—but the problem was—where did Yukino get the rationale and confidence to be so certain she could complete the system’s task today?
That was something Yuu couldn’t think of or do—and ultimately could only choose to postpone temporarily!
Or even if Yukino failed—it wouldn’t matter. After all—a pervert like him wouldn’t really touch her. She had no need to fear whatever Six-Hour Sexual thing?
If so—Yuu could only give her a cold sneer—Naive. Such thinking was truly too naive.
Since gaining approval from both parents and starting happy busy days with two girlfriends—he had gradually ignored the system’s existence. He focused on enjoying daily life full of flirting and intimacy with his girlfriends.
And things mutually liked by men and women—no matter how perceptive the man—he’d eventually be tempted and reach climax with a compatible partner.
Yuu was naturally no exception. He was ready to devour Yuigahama anytime—only lacking opportunity… As for Yukino—though he knew she’d forget him sooner or later—he mustn’t take advantage of her.
But that resolve also unconsciously grew fragile—like Durex’s thinnest new product—breaking with one toothpick poke.
If he truly spent Christmas Eve alone with Yukino—Yuu couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t toss the system, tasks, ex-girlfriends, everything to the back of his mind. With boiling blood—he’d directly push down the girl making this request—and climb the stairs of adulthood like that.
Because he loved her—when rational—he wanted to use all his strength to protect her. When emotional—he wanted to use all his affection to melt her. When lustful—he wanted to use every means to possess her.
He had said it while doing the last task at the hot spring inn—while making Masuzu practice moaning—before becoming the system host—Yuu was still a man!
Clearly—our sweet little Yukino didn’t realize the seriousness of this issue. She thought she had calculated everything—when actually she was just inviting the wolf into the house.
Yuu silently shook his head. He quickly thought of words to say. He prepared to tell her that the chance of completing the task and the risk of losing virginity were completely unequal.
However—before he could utter half a sentence—the girl’s all-seeing gaze was already fixed on him. Her eyes like warm water slowly freezing into ice—reflecting a sky gloomier than the clouds above.
“Tenkuji-kun—I hope you don’t misunderstand… I acted after knowing all the consequences.”
Her melodious voice rang clear and cold. Every word wrapped in undeniable determination.
Yuu fell silent a moment. Then he deliberately countered: “Even if you might fail the task—and end up intimate with me before Yui—you don’t care?”
As if already considered—her answer was also without hesitation: “How could I not care? Of course—I’ll make you take responsibility for me first—then apologize to Yui… However—I won’t write a detailed plan and discuss it with you.”
As if thinking of something funny—her serious expression slowly eased. A slight smile appeared at her lip corners.
“Though the progress is indeed a bit fast—but whose fault is our situation so complicated? Acting according to circumstances—and handling issues flexibly—that’s also what you taught me through your own actions.”
Yuu stared at her in shock. The black-haired girl gently placed her hand on her chest. She softly exhaled with closed eyes—trying to normalize her increasingly rapid heartbeat.
Cold wind blew—her black hair flying wildly around her white reddish smooth cheeks. Only her slim petite body still stood straight—before Yuu without the slightest weakness.
“Since I already know how to end it—if I keep delaying—it’ll only make the pain to face in the future grow larger.”
Yukino lifted her eyes—and gazed at him.
Her white fingers pulled her scarf down. Her pink lips pressed into a straight line. Though slightly nervous—there was no tremor at all.
“I won’t regret—and I won’t fear… Because I promised—I’ll save everything from you—no matter the cost.”
“Most importantly—I love you, Yuu.”
If not for love—how could she suppress her healthy worldview and good morals in her heart—and plan all sorts of things from tonight until tomorrow morning?
Pure responsibility alone—couldn’t make her sacrifice this much…
Seeing the silent Yuu—Yukino suddenly burst out laughing. She cupped her smooth chin with her palm—and laughed calmly.
“Why—surprised? Is it because I proactively invited you to be intimate—or because I already know how to end your task? No—it should be both.”
“…” Since her guess hit the mark—Yuu’s expression became slightly weird.
Without waiting for his answer—the curve at the girl’s lip corners seemed to add a bit of challenge.
“We’ve reached the point where a girl says this—won’t you be so weak as to turn back and go home now? Or do you want to call Yui? If you really lack confidence—I don’t mind if you do?”
The complicated thoughts in his heart hadn’t settled—and now mocked like this—Yuu struggled to control the twitch at his lip corners.
“…Provocation won’t work. Do I look like such a weak man?”
“Then why did you stop? The apartment’s already in sight.”
Suppressing the embarrassment and nervousness inside—Yukino elegantly brushed her long hair over her shoulder. She showed a refreshing cool smile.
“Or do you want me to guarantee I won’t do anything lewd to you—and will maintain social distance even when alone—spending tonight with the healthy behavior high school students should have?”
“If you’re that scared—better cancel this hot pot party? After all—I can’t possibly drag you forcibly to my room—and force you to do something you don’t want.”
Seeing Yuu standing silent—her gaze seemed to mock like that.
However—deep in Yukino’s eyes—hid embarrassment and anxiety. The palm holding the shopping bag strap also unconsciously gripped tightly. Her cherry-colored lips were bitten leaving shallow dents.
“…”

Title: This Medicine Is Very Serious
In the end, Yuu still returned to the apartment with Yukino.
All this time, he had faced the relationship that would end alone. All this time, only he had prepared for the separation…
The choices were always made by him alone. Though the decision to make Yukino his girlfriend was left to her, Yuu still believed that in the end, he would have to face the frozen world before the reset by himself.
Not just him—even the system probably never expected a target to voluntarily help the host complete the task, doing something suicidal like this.
After all, losing memories was like dying as he had been back then. All current thoughts and feelings would be killed by the world after the reset, becoming a stranger to himself.
Take his little sister, for example—she knew everything that happened to her big brother and all the suffering Yuu endured. Yukino should feel even deeper fear about this. Yet she still unhesitatingly brought him back to the apartment where she lived alone.
…But with the precedent of resurrection, it didn’t seem that scary anymore.
“Come in—these are your slippers.”
Carrying the shopping bags, Yukino opened the door. She took out a pair of blue house slippers from the shoe rack. After placing them in front of him, she put the small leather shoes she removed into the rack. Her beautiful small feet, confined for hours and wrapped in black stockings, were finally freed and quickly slipped into fluffy cat slippers.
Feeling the gaze from behind, Yukino resisted the urge to turn. She took off her jacket and hung it on the coat rack near the door. Then, with slightly warming cheeks, she walked to the kitchen as if nothing happened.
“…She really prepared everything thoroughly, huh.”
Yuu took a light breath. He put on his slippers with a slightly odd expression. He also hung his uniform jacket on an empty spot on the rack and closed the door. He followed her back.
The curve of her hips visible when bending to remove her shoes—like a half-ripe peach freshly picked.
When her small feet escaped the leather shoes, a faint scent entered his nose.
In the clean and tidy home, there was an elegant girl’s aroma.
When the door closed, this place became their world of two.
Watching the girl’s lightly swaying steps ahead—her straight long thighs under the school uniform skirt, and the slim waist he could easily hug with both arms.
If he hugged her directly from behind, the touch would surely be exquisite. Tightening his arms as if to squeeze her, burying his face in her swan-smooth neck, deeply inhaling her softness and scent…
(Am I getting aroused the moment I enter? I’m really hopeless…)
Scolding himself inwardly, Yuu shook his head. He expelled all the uncontrollable pink bubbles continuously rising in his mind from his consciousness.
Though Muscle Control couldn’t manage the thing made of corpus cavernosum, blood vessels, fascia, and skin—he could influence blood flow by tensing his thigh muscles, avoiding situations where his body reacted beyond his rational control.
“Let me help.”
To distract himself, Yuu took the initiative to speak. He placed the shopping bags beside Yukino, who had opened the fridge and was preparing to sort ingredients. His eyes scanned the spotless kitchen.
(Though Yukino cooks for herself every day, her kitchen looks newly built—clean to the point even the neatest person wouldn’t find fault—Hmm, she’s good wife material.)
Thinking this, Yuu asked: “What kind of hot pot base do you like? Konbu, lemongrass, Mongolian, spicy mala, seafood, cheese, milk, tomato, vegetable—all possible. There’s also clear oil and beef tallow, but old-stock broth needing dozens of days to simmer is impossible. Can only prepare simply.”
“Your definition of simple is a bit strange…” Pausing slightly, Yukino held her chin and thought. “How about something lighter? You don’t like spicy either.”
“Decent—I can eat it.” Yuu started searching for the newly bought ingredients from the bags.
“Speaking of spicy food—since around September, I don’t know why, Nee-san suddenly likes spicy. She wasn’t that interested before…”
Yuu’s movements stopped. Yukino lifted her head with a wordless expression and stared: “…Good question, but are you sure you want to talk about this during our precious time alone?”
“Afraid I’ll get jealous? Relax—I’m not that petty.” Yukino smiled lazily like a cat, as if Yuu could see a mischievously swaying tail behind her. “I wasn’t even angry at the amusement park. Rather than hearing Nee-san exaggerate her stories, I prefer hearing you tell the past events directly.”
“Actually, there’s nothing special to tell…”
Though Yuu seemed uninterested, Yukino persistently asked: “But there must be some things I haven’t heard. Or—are they things you’re uncomfortable telling me?”
Yuu met her eyes. After confirming only pure curiosity and obsession to know more, he let out a long sigh as if defeated.
“…Fine—anyway, the uncomfortable things have already been told by Haruno. The rest are just trivial daily stories. If you want to know—I’ll tell you.”
“Great!” Yukino clenched her small fist in the shadows. She couldn’t hold back a happy smile as if victorious.
Realizing her improper attitude, she immediately cleared her throat twice and regained composure.
“Relax—today there’s enough time for you to tell everything about your three ex-girlfriends.”
Yuu widened his eyes in disbelief: “Did you bring me home just to dig up this information?”
Yukino slightly tilted her head. She asked confused: “What else would it be for?”
Seconds after the words left, she realized. Her white skin was dyed again with charming red. She glared at him with slight embarrassment and anger—but couldn’t think of any retort or condemnation.
After all, the small locked box in the bedroom closet proved she did have hidden motives… Or rather—she was indeed thinking of something deeper.
“Aren’t you making the hot pot broth? Hurry—the ingredients are also left to you to handle.”
Yukino commanded coldly. She flipped her graphite-like black hair and turned toward the bedroom: “I’m changing out of my school uniform.”
“Okay~” Yuu dragged his voice lazily. He watched her flee the kitchen. Soon after, the sound of the bedroom door closing.
Standing from the floor, he stretched. He drew a deep breath of the still-fresh air into his lungs. Then he looked around the completely different cooking environment from his home.
“Hmm… Regular hot pot probably can’t make explosive dishes. The ingredients also seem insufficient…”
Muttering with slight regret, he turned to the apron on the wall and couldn’t help a helpless laugh.
“Acting like I’ll live here. Are my toothbrush and cup already prepared in the bathroom too? Really…”
Taking the very new sky-blue apron hanging beside the cat apron and tying its strings at his waist, Yuu turned on the faucet. He took the pot placed on the stove—probably bought specially for today.
Unfortunately, his home stove was electric. Yuu was still more used to gas. Firepower was easy to control, and stir-fried seasonings were more fragrant.
But it didn’t matter. Anyway, the important thing when eating hot pot at home usually wasn’t the taste—but the intimacy and warmth of eating from the same pot.
His mood somehow became cheerful. Yuu hummed softly. He turned off the faucet. He placed the pot three-quarters full of water on the stove and turned on the power.
“Though not the first time—but cooking at a girlfriend’s house feels quite new~ Oh right—I forgot about this.”
He suddenly remembered something. He confirmed Yukino was still in the bedroom and hadn’t come out. Then Yuu took out a beautiful small crystal bottle from his school bag.
The long-absent Life Potion. A magical item from another world. Besides healing all diseases, it could also strengthen the body. Currently, six drops remained.
Yuu originally planned to use this chance to give it to both—but since the situation changed, Yuigahama’s portion would wait until she came to eat at his house next time.
“If put in the hot pot, it’ll be diluted. Better mix into drinks…”
Opening the crystal bottle cap, he once again showed a wicked smile like preparing a crime.
