I released the first build of MPP just over a year ago now! I thought it might be interesting to show you what the game looked like 1,5 years ago or so.I had worked on another project with a coder behind-the-scenes for a while and made some pixel sprites:https://gyazo.com/e59294c36f0d64c76cdc7bc633447e0bhttps://gyazo.com/8c547b5e0e0dc4721047681bcdcd35ffhttps://i.gyazo.com/bbca378c70e2dd1fdd47fc16db0a9758.pngBut this project fell apart because the coder couldn't prioritize the game anymore and I felt fed up with working with others because I had ANOTHER game project fall apart before that behind the scenes...I ended up doodling this princess-Emelie stuff without any direction because pixel-art game stuff felt fun, and I started feeling inspired by the setting. I was sort of getting bored of drawing furries in a modern setting and liked drawing fantasy, and with these pixel-art pics I combined both! Then I heard about Ren'py and played some visual novels made in it, and I felt passionate enough about the princess-Emelie idea to reimagine it as a Visual Novel with illustrated art!So I drew and posted the Emelie paizuri/massage art here on Patreon as an image-set, while working on the game-aspects in secret behind-the-scenes... so that if the game was too difficult to realize, I could scrap it without letting anyone down. But Ren'Py was fairly intuitive and the game came together without too much hassle! Then I posted it on Christmas and now it's been my entire focus for a year! It's kinda fun to look back on these images. Emelie looked less bubbly and her tits were even more huge than they are now lol. I feel like she looked hot but I think the overall personality and feel of the current Emelie is right where I want it!Rolf was barely developed and Billy looked extra harmless because making angles was tricky for me with pixels haha. When I decided to make the game a VN I just overpainted these assets here. But I reimagined the UI completely since the new UI was based on Ren'Py's settings.Anyways I thought it might be interesting for some of you to see this! :)PS: These " screenshots " are just mockups. The game was never playable in this state. And the UI was just made for visual design, it was never functional.

Wow, Emelie was already so cute back then, but now she feels way more balanced, I really like how she looks now and she is my favorite girl (in appearance and personality). Thanks for all this great work since the beginning Cyan, can't wait to play future builds!

ocelot09

Greatness from small beginnings. I really enjoyed MPP, honestly one of the most fun games I've played this year. Thanks and have a great new year!

Zixil

Did this year give you a good inkling on how it feels how to be making games, given that your previous projects had fallen through? Or perhaps a different perspective on how to approach making games? ^^

jonny

Whoa, the pixel-art is so cool! Glad it looks the way it does now but both look hella poggers

Jaemo

Wow! You've come so far in only one year!

andrew

I wasn't here when you first developed it but holy hell you surely improved for the better😁

CyanCapsule

Man I don't think the previous game experiences helped much, because I just did a ton of visual assets that didnt lead anywhere, I wasnt doing code or anything. But maybe it opened the idea of a more ambitious project in my head, and then since the collaborative nature of it all didnt work out I just decided to go fully solo which I think was a good decision!

Frank Kuschmann

I didn't know that "My Pig Princess" was a pixel-art game at the beginning. But Emelie was already as lovely and sweet as she is now, irresistible! Thank you for the wonderful review of your masterpiece!

CyanCapsule

Yeah it was briefly! And I thought " I can do pixel art faster!" but then I realized it wasnt much faster and I didnt know what I was doing haha. And since I wasnt going to do many minigames I figured I'd rather do illustrated art!

Zixil

By the look of it. It certainly does!

Anonymous

Very cool! The pixel art looks fantastic, but I think the illustrated style allows a lot more detail and nuance which adds a lot to the result.

Zoular

I love pixel art! I've seen a few of your pixel art before, were those part of the other project you mentioned?

CyanCapsule

The ones I linked through gyazo were, yeah! But i also started MPP with pixel art and then moved over to illustrations! :)

Dsan

This game is coming out so amazing, so glad to see you thriving with it!

Frank Kuschmann

I guess that was a good decision of yours.(*Thumbs up*)

TpF

I love this pixel art!! Tbh more mature, slut emelie was my fave, but i see where youre goihg with the "innocent-ish" current characterization!!!

Danny

Is there any chance we'll see the redhair angel mommy in MPP or are you trying to keep it furries only? Not that I mind either way.

CyanCapsule

MPP isn't going to have goblins or demons or angels etc, but will mostly focus on anthro characters with the MC being the only human!

John Carsten
