Honestly I dont watch one piece that much but didnt mihawk say shanks isnt worth/it isnt fun to fighting one handed shanks? This obviously implies that mihawk and shanks had either duels or contests against each other and now that shanks has lost his hand it would not be as fun. I will say I think the dialogue for that said that mihawk has to get his getback so it implied that shanks either won their last contest or has won more times than mihawk. Regardless they are def in the same tier from my limited knowledge. Everything shanks does now is kinda just showing how strong mihawk is too now no? Because mihawk had contests with him when he had both.

No, Shanks’ feats don’t automatically upscale Mihawk—that’s ridiculous. Their duels were about sword skill, not deciding who’s stronger overall. Mihawk only cares about being the greatest swordsman, not the strongest pirate, and he’s not even confirmed to have Conqueror’s Haki. Meanwhile, Shanks has the best Haki feats in the series outside maybe Garp. Mihawk’s showings have been weak compared to how Oda constantly hypes Shanks. Honestly, nobody cares about the ‘World’s Greatest Swordsman’ title except Zoro stans. Even Mihawk said becoming Pirate King is harder, and Shanks is literally one of the biggest walls in that path. They are rivals in swordsmanship alone and no offense only people with a weak understanding of the story cannot see that.
