Apparently the scene between Jonathan and Nancy was a breakup the duffers confirmed it literally such horrible writing cus I thought that it was a in un proposal since they thought they were dying 😭

How is it horrible writing? It’s literally the best written breakup. Not everything gotta end in a bad thing. You guys gotta get spoon-fed, they were literally saying how bad their relationship were and confessing on the bad things about their relationships. The whole point was that they loved eachother but the relationship suffocated them because they were a trauma bond, not a normal relationship.

You know your writing is bad when almost your whole audience can't tell what a scene is trying to convey and you had to do an interview after to explain the scene. Apparently that scene between Johnathan and Nancy was a break up, but almost no one felt that it was because of how the scene played out, lol. I don't know man, this vol was such a stark difference from vol 1 that I got whiplash in the change in tone/vibe and writing. I feel like the Duffers were on the purist crack when writing these episodes and it highkey makes me afraid for the series finale.

i think the last scene between max and holly is one of the better acted / emotional of the season. for me, at least. i initially also felt the urgency of like - “girl, RUN !” but after letting the scene build, it ended up being my favorite of the volume, maybe even season (so far). honorable mentions: steve and dustin’s scenes and opening of the next ep. i feel like those two, lucas and max, plus holly are carrying this season for me. i don’t know what’s up with the writing of mike now, but…it’s off lol. that’s all i’ll say about that. disappointing because i actually *really* liked his character in previous seasons.

It was good writing, but not for a breakup. Not a single person I know saw that scene and thought they broke up. It just came off as if they aren't getting married, at least not anytime soon, and going forward, they will communicate better in their relationship. If they had to go on an interview and confirmed that they had broken up, then they didn't make the breakup clear enough.
