so theres a distinction here, as far as battle IQ Sasuke is really impressive at on the fly 1 step at a time deduction which is a pretty solid match to what megumi did. He solved it piece by piece mid combat. Shikamaru is SOOO smart that he Usually already planned out how to beat the opponent before the fight started OR he pops a squat and literally brain blasts not only what the technique is but also how the rest of the fight will play out and pick the best one. Shikamaru deduces and runs simulations at incredible speed in his head determines which simulation has the best odds and wins. hes not great on the spot mid combat. He either needs to have come prepped to the fight at which point hes already won or he needs to pause the fight and take a knee and run simulations.

None of the characters that die have any depth cause they dont put any emphasis on them or storytelling so there is no connection between the watcher and character.
