I find myself grappling with the concluding decisions. While I do not believe intentional misogyny was at play, the actions taken may have inadvertently exhibited misogynistic undertones. Consider, for instance, the treatment of Viserys Targaryen, even posthumously; his Kingsguard would not have restricted his movements as Rhaenyra was confined to her chambers. Conversely, Rhaenyra's decision was ill-advised, and engaging in battle would have likely resulted in her demise. The essence of the Dance of the Dragons revolves around her, and her death in such a conflict would have nullified any claim to the throne, rendering the entire endeavor futile. It is worth noting that Alicent's son, Aegon, did participate in battle and, while not fatally wounded, sustained severe injuries due to unforeseen circumstances. The most frustrating aspect of the battle was the promising strategy devised by Jace; he and Baela were performing admirably and would have secured victory had it not been for Sheepstealer's intervention.

Guys it's really because she's a woman. If Rhaenyra was a man then they wouldn't be locking her up in rooms. Daemon is the king consort and he's out there on the field with blood all over him. It simply just isn't fair.

Rhaenyra is only trying to protect her son and heir why would she let him go to battle after already losing a son. Her council and queens guard not listening is entirely based on her being a woman. Yall should watch the behind the episodes with the writers and actors explaining the scenes!

calling rhaenyra an idiot for continuing to try to find peaceful solutions is crazy. shes the youngest dragon rider in their history and most experienced at the moment with daemon gone, meaning she would likely have done the most damage and gotten out alive at that battle.

They do know that except for daemon, rhaenyra is the most experienced dragon rider in the black. Her dragon is bigger than vermax which means that shit would not have worked on it and plus she would have handled that situation better than him. Plus the queensguard job is to protect not advise. They listen to her commands not the other way around. That shit would not have worked if daemon was the one on the other side or even her father. They would have obeyed. Jace means well but he has been eager to get into the war to avenge his brother but rhaenyra as a mother does not want him to fight in it bc she wants to protect him due to her love. C'mon guys. It’s coming off misogynistic. Unlike a lot of the men around her who wanted to jump into war…she actually tried peace. Perhaps when the story ends and you see what everyone has lost then maybe you will appreciate her efforts. They are not listening to her because she is a woman in this time…Jace and the guards locking her in her room was treason!

Jace should have listened to his mother. Rhaena should’ve listened as well, she was meant to be in the vale with the babies, no one sent her to claim a dragon. If there was more obeisance to Rhaenyra a lot less people would be dead. Everything happening is on Alicent, criston and Otto’s heads and it’s decades in the making.

It's not true that they'll stop a king from doing whatever he wants and the mad king was a terrible example made by Rob. They let him torture and kill people while they all had to watch for years before Jaime killed him and he was still shamed for it. Jon Snow told his people many times that he was about to go somewhere dangerous or do something his people didn't agree with and no one stopped him. Advisors aren't the law they just make suggestions but Kings and Queens are not in a democracy they don't have to listen to anyone. Culture and the need for the approval of the other high lords (because they need their help) is the only reason they even sit with the council about their decisions.

W reaction but yall are analyzing everything with hindsight a lil too much so just try to remember that, this war broke out after decades of peace in the realm (aegon's conquest was a 100 years prior to this) and thats why rhaneyra is so hesitant to make rash decisions cause she wants to preserve the peace as much as she can to follow her fathers footsteps so if there is a way to resolve things without bloodshed she tries her best to take that route, its just very easy to judge her knowing the events of GoT and how the realm ended up but this is way before any of that and just all out war is not something that happened ever in any of the characters liftetime so her navigating all of this is very foreign as it would be for anyone in her position, and although you can call her naive but calling her stupid is just ignorance. There's been a constant theme of misogyny in this show for a reason, all beginning with rhaneys, and rhaneyra is receiving the same treatment basically with the realm and even her own people rejecting and belittling her just cause shes a woman not that shes wrong.

I see your point of view there- but I think in this case it is more about her being the central claimant and leader the binds the alliance together. Rhaenyra said that if she died Jace will be King. She doesn't know that. The entire premise of her claiming the throne is that she was the intended heir of Viserys and Viserys made the realm swear to support her. No one in the realm swore to support Jace. Same goes for Daemon. He's just the King-consort, not the King, the war is built upon Rhaenyra's claim to the Iron Throne as Queen, not Daemon's claim. Also, I don't know why we're forgetting that Aegon II (son of Alicent) is a man, and nobody wanted him riding his dragon out into battle either (and we saw what happened to him when he did).

Syrax is not that much bigger than Vermax and even if the first anchor only slowed down her dragon, they could have easily shot Syrax twice or even three times to get the job done. If all things happened the same with Rhaena arriving on Sheepstealer and screwing everything up, Rhaenyra would have probably died.

rob i disagree. bc there was NOT another option for trying to get rid of Lohar, the son never actually made a plan for anything until the end, all he did was question his dads plan, he didnt offer another one after questioning. The plan was great and shaved off a bunch of her people, she was just skilled enough to make it through, but it was 3 ships against 1 no matter what they had to take out people, So just because the main person wasnt taken out where u wanted, doesnt mean the plan was bad, bc ultimately she died, and Corlus may still be alive bc he fell off the sip close too shallow waters.

You meaning one of the best if not the best marine battle centered spectacles ever aired on television not to mention all the context behind the so called "sailing around" Of Aemond employing triarch forces (3x the opposition) meant to annihilate the Sea Snake's ships thus gaining a HUGE upper hand against Rhaynera. And the Jayce's death serving what is to be a potential Mad Queen arc. There is still the larys and aegon who have been captured & Aemond finally being persuaded to fly to harenhall which would make King's landing free for the taking for Rhaynera if she decides to follow through on that....... but the Jayce situation shit just got soooo much messier. Lol I for the life don't get how some niggaz watch shows like they half asleep fr. LOCK IN!!!

Aegon doesn't have the heart of a king, he wasn't even the one fighting to get on the throne, he ran from it. Whereas Rhaenyra does and she's actively fighting and working towards her throne.

Also, if the main claimant was a man they very much would be expected to fight. For example, Stannis Baratheon was the main claimant for his cause, do you think anyone ever told him "no don't lead the battle at blackwater, it's too dangerous" fuck no, it was never even a question, and throughout GOT we see that the main person leading a war is usually leading on the battlefield and expected so. I promise you, if Rhaenyra was a man no one would be handling her with kiddy gloves like they are now because she's not an immature fool like Aegon, she has the heart of a king.
