Back in the swing of things, and I'm working on writing Aiden's route, directing the new writer to finish Gray's route, and drawing all the necessary art.

I want to address everyone's criticism of Gray's route.

I hear your feedback about the MC. A player's enjoyment of the route is directly tied to how much they like or tolerate the MC, and sadly, there's a whole lot of criticism about this MC.

Firstly it was that she was too standoffish and hostile towards Gray. I got someone to go back in the earlier chapters to edit them so that the MC appears nicer.

But now the comments are about not agreeing with her decision, and it's affecting their enjoyment of the route because the MC annoys them.

Since halfway through Dimitri's route, I have gotten direct feedback from Patreons and beta testers about the way a certain route went. Stories were changed and even characters got bigger roles depending on the feedback and reception it got. I was always able to somehow direct the story to that players wanted, as I was still developing it.

With Gray's route, that's different. Over a year ago I hired someone to write Gray's route for me, so I could focus on Aiden's route. By the time Gray's first chapter was available to play for players, chapters 1 through 16 were already written, and his story was completely outlined. A big part of his story was MC hiding her identity from him. By the time the first complaints came forward, the story was even further along, until the writer eventually left the project.

Had I known the reception the MC in Gray's route would have gotten, I'd have handled it earlier on and changed the direction of the story. However, since the main writer wasn't me, and it was written well in advance, there isn't really room to edit the story and make it more palpable for the players (not if I want to go in there and rewrite everything myself, which defeats the point of bringing on another writer). MC hiding her identity is a big part of the story, which is not something I can change at this point.

This experience has taught me that I should probably focus on writing the routes myself, and not hire another writer to help me out. And to only write characters I would enjoy writing (the reason Gray has a different writer is because I cannot write a dynamic like Gray and the MC).

At this point, I'm just happy I found a replacement writer to help finish Gray's story. I wouldn't want to reboot Gray's route either, since a lot of Patreon money was spent on the story in the first place.

So I just want to say I apologize for Gray's route. Right now, I'm focused on actually getting it finished. I may continue to hire the writer that's currently writing Gray's route to go back over some previous chapters and make MC's reasoning for hiding her identity from Gray stronger and more relatable. Of course, this doesn't matter much to the current players who already are upset about the MC. Or maybe just restart the route entirely, adding on another year of development.

From here on out, all stories will be developed and written by me, and I will only work on one route at a time.

"From here on out, all stories will be developed and written by me, and I will only work on one route at a time." Please do so and focus on doing the writing yourself. It's really good to know why Grays route felt so diffrent from the others before and especially when you say "I cannot write a dynamic like Gray and the MC" why would you add such a couple to your own game? Please stop trying to please everyone and think about what you would like to read/write/see in a game yourself. You do a great job already. There is just no way to appeal to everyone out there. I really just want to read your stories and your characters... ^^ because they're really cool.

I think it'll be much better once the route is fully released. The story itself isn't an issue imo

So far I really like the story!!! I get both sides of it though, it's a little frustrating not being able to tell the truth. But that's why it's such good writing!!! You're supposed to want to tell the truth but you just can't because of the situation it would put you and gray in! So far I wouldn't change a thing, it's building tension and plot and its been amazing. So good job to the writers on this, and thank you celianna for taking all the criticism into account. I'm excited to see where all the gang tension goes and how MCs relationship with gray will continue!

I think it's great that you take criticism into account, thanks for that, I'm not a fan of Grey's route, it's not for me, but I believe there are people who like it and it's nice that there are routes for all tastes

You're very sweet to take people's comments into account and it was very nice to read through your thought process on route creation. I think as someone who doesn't actively self insert into stories (clarification: I do not think this is a bad thing to do it's just that I am personally incapable of it) I do not find myself bothered that much by the motivations of the MC because to me she exists as a character separate from myself. I could see how for people who appreciate a more player character immersive game would feel iffy about not being about to control large character building decision moments. The same thing could also apply to people who don't self-insert and don't find that their character would act in such a way too! Similarly, I can understand why some feel a little critical about MC's motivations from a story standpoint. Once again, personally, I don't mind when a character lies for silly reasons HAHA! In fact, I think it adds to the drama and fun of stories when someone is lying/someone does something silly and also speaks to the humanity of the characters. To be frank I feel like many people in general just do small little white lies (even when beginning a friendship like Gray and MC are in the first chapters) and you don't expect them to kick you in the ass later. Yeah, I do roll my eyes at MC's antics but to me they're entirely believable antics. I know it's easy to say "oh they should just be open and communicate" but sometimes you're out here not telling your best friend they hurt your feelings and that's just how it is LMFAOOO Anyways if I had a real critique I would say that the romance and connection are a little lacking. Like I know Gray is sexy and MC and Gray wanna smash but I'm also sometimes like why do they like each other even? The dots aren't connecting for me right now but the story isn't finished so I'm hoping to get a little more insight. Even then I would say it's a lot of chapters without a little more something something. That being said I love your work and I'm so excited to read more <3

I really like the route, I’m not too sure where it’s going but I absolutely love Grey and the tension between him and the MC. She *can* be frustrating but I think it’s mainly due to how long the secret has been dragged out and it not feeling like there is good enough reason. I don’t think much editing would need to be done. I don’t self insert (like another commenter mentioned, it’s not bad, I just like to imagine them as their own persons) but I think one thing I find most frustrating with the MC is the lack of consistency. She loves the rush and gets a kick out of being cool and aggressive but she backs down almost all of the time. It comes across a little bit like an a kid trying to be edgy online 😅

Nasty Crime Boy

I think MC's behavior makes sense for the situation she's in. Reasoning for actions and emotions can be complex and sometimes there isn't a sensible reason for the actions or reactions of a person. Not everyone is going to react the same to a situation so rewriting to make it more relatable could possibly cause a similar reaction among other players who don't relate to whatever new reasons she has or new ways she reacts. There's no way to please everyone and I think you should do what makes the most sense for you. My opinion is leave it as it is and let the current writer finish it. I'm enjoying the route and the build up and I'm interested in seeing how Gray reacts and what MC has to do to gain his forgiveness.

I just want to share a positive comment, since most people already paraphrased what I thought about Gray's route. I hope you don't feel too pressured and take it easy! You've been doing an amazing job with this game for the past years. Personnally, Tailor Tales really helped me during the worst time of my life, and the monthly updates were the only thing I looked forward to for many months. I might be oversharing on the internet here, but I remember during the release of James route, at some point when the MC was still in Yool, I was about to do something really drastic, but it was only a few days away from the monthly update - and it's a bit embarrassing, but looking forward to the next chapters actually kept me going for a while. Tailor Tales was the only thing I was passionate about - I kept talking about the game to my colleagues and friends. I'm trying not to be dramatic here, but this game means so much to me ^^ it makes me really happy, I can forget about real life for a sec, and it feels so good! I know all the criticism might be overwhelming, so I just want to let you know : not only you've developped an amazing game, but you've also saved a life here! One of the few things that will always excite me and bring a smile to my face is Tailor Tales. That will never EVER change. I am so happy to be able to support you and got so lucky to stumble upon this game. Thank you for your hard work, and again - try not to overwork yourself. Celianna, you're the best!

I really love Grays route, I love the tension between them, if I was in her position I'd be keeping it a secret for as long as it goes, I'm excited to see how the story progresses, what reaction, ect, take it easy and thank you for creating an amazing game, I can relate to the persons comment above mine, you saved my life aswell, continue what you do best and take it easy, you've been through alot.

MermaidVictory

Everyone whose already commented are very through and all I want to add is that I’m enjoying the route. I do some self insert with these games, and the MC is still very smart but we all have our dumb moments. I wouldn’t change it and just let the story be. Be sure to have plenty of water, rest, and don’t forget to eat. ❤️

I kind of understand both sides of the argument: On one hand; I get why people may be angry. After all, they're paying monthly and probably expect a certain quality to their game and, of course, quality is subjective. (I for one like Gray's route.) on the other hand; one can't really expect every single story from a branching story game to be perfectly to their tastes; I may one love route but hate another, and that's just the nature of games like this. In the end I think that the game is great and Gray is great. But for those who can't agree with certain decisions from the MC, ect... it's best to remember this game really isn't much of a self-insert game, and the main character's personality is generally set in stone with a few minor exceptions. And that's perfectly fine. Regardless of opinions though, lets just remember not to attack the creator of the game. :)

Some people you just can't please no matter what just keep that in mind Celine so don't be stressed now they will have to realized cuz of them not being happy no matter what now chapters are going to take longer to come out possibly.

I appreciate you taking the time to think about the nuances of routes and aspects of self-insert stories. With the development of Tailor Tales, I believe the Western-based audience has more expectations than Japanese-based otome games, where the complaints in question are often ten times worse. Regardless, consumers should understand that Tailor Tales is not a game in which player choice is a main gameplay element. Yes, you can choose either the dominant or submissive options, but you are ultimately reading a character, not shaping them. For instance, When The Night Comes focuses on character development and personal choice that Tailor Tale doesn't, and that's okay. As a consumer and an LGBT+ woman who thinks outside the heteronormative relationships, this game does not speak to me, and that is too okay.

I'm enjoying the route, I'm curious to see how the obvious physical attraction between them develops into more of an emotional connection and how they manage to let their guard down around each other. I really didn't dwell on MC's motivations at all, I just accepted it and moved on to see how she gets herself out of it. Not everyone is going to happy with all the routes, but with so many to choose from there's definitely something for everyone to like. I'm loving the game and looking forward to the rest of it.

Genevieve Caron

I know a lot of people have already said their piece and I agree with most of them so I'll just say I absolutely love this game and Grey's route. I think you're incredibly talented and I look forward to the rest of the game! <3

Sugary-Stardust

I don't mind the MC in Grey's route even though I don't relate to her at all, just like I can't relate to the MC in any of the stories tbh. I couldn't run my own boutique; I'm disabled. I don't have superpowers (James' route). I could never sext someone without explicit boundaries first (Aiden). I could never let a near stranger live in my spare room (Dimitri). Heck, I have multiple medical conditions that mean I basically can't engage in sexual activity (which is why I read this instead). I understand her motivation for lying, but I'm also honest to probably a fault and even telling the littlest white lie riddles me with guilt. I've never been one to self-insert into stories, have never even thought about the possibility that other people do tbh The only concern I really have with Grey's route is, BDSM is based on trust, and Grey reflects that. I have a suspicion that Grey already knows the MC is the guilty party and is just waiting for her to admit it, but based on the story so far, I do find it a little hard to believe that the two will be able to clear the air and be fully forgiven and trusting of each other AND reasonably Get It On within the scope of the story length. Like, I guess the conflict feels bigger AND sooner in the story than with any other route, so I'm curious how it will resolve without feeling rushed. But I definitely finished the existing chapters with eager anticipation towards the rest of the story!

Me belongs to the people which are not so happy with hiding MC identity.. at last when the Hammer blackmailed MC I would tell in advance.....

Scissor_Fights

I wanted to read the story up to the finished point before making a comment just because I had read all the comments and now that I have, I love grays route and I can understand why mc would do and say what she does. I love that Aiden and Grays route add a variety to the stories already written, personally I have no issue with any of it and I'm just eager to see what else you have in store.

Steffi

I finished yesterday the 15th chapter of the Gray Route and I totally loved it. Can´t wait for the story to continue.

Holly LeMay

I can admit to being frustrated with MC, but not to the point that it makes the story unlikable. Actually, it's all very believable and I'm really, really enjoying it. I also really like Gray's character, and I can't wait to read the next chapters!
