Generally speaking many shinigami do tend to keep their powers secret. That way people don't know your techniques and hence can't prepare beforehand to battle you, and there could be multiple other reasons too. For example, keeping his ability secret for a long time was very helpful for Aizen, and we also got to know in an earlier arc that Ikkaku has Bankai but he does wish to keep it secret too. Particularly in Yumichika's case I think he had mentioned in the soul society arc that his power is not very suited for a member of squad 11, which is a division specializing in sword-only combat. He cares about what Ikkaku, Kenpachi and others in the squad might think and hence he hides the true nature of his Zanpakuto from them for fear of being hated by them.

That fight was hilarious 🤣 What I think makes the comedy extra ridiculous and funny in Bleach is how quickly the atmosphere can change from serious and tense to jovial and carefree. This is probably my favorite arc in Bleach. Some excellent fights coming up next, and of course with a good dose of Bleach comedy XD

Realy? I think comedy is one of the worst parts of Bleach. Kubo's sense for comedic timing doesn't translate very well to the broader western audience and so much tension is lost in fights where comedy is thrown in out of nowhere for a dumb joke. Szayelapporo's fight is a prime example of this. His fight could have been genuinely disturbing and tense but Pesche and Dondochakka constantly drain any tension out of it with their elementary school level humor.
