Grace's actress was probably pregnant during season 5, that's why she is always behind something or the camera angle is on her back. We see Ray on the beginning of season 4, after Jane kills the guy he thought was Red John and Lisbon and Grace kill Grace's boyfriend. CBI director wanted to fire Lisbon because of the deaths and put Jane at Ray's team, to replace Lisbon, but Jane keeps trolling his new team, making them fight among themselves and chase fake leads, so the director brings Lisbon back to "keep" and "control" Jane.

Pregnant! Of course, why did I not even think of that?? That makes total sense and is a much better reason than the things I came up with haha Ohhh yeah, now it's coming back to me. I vaguely remembered there was something with Jane on a different squad but for the life of me I couldn't place his face. Thanks!
