Loved the reaction! :D Now, whenever I think of the fellowship, I can't help it but see Sean Bean (the actual actor) as part of it XD Regarding your thoughts about Gimli (the dwarf) and Legolas, the movies trim a lot from the books; by necessity, obviously. Which, like you said, doesn't give them a lot of character moments. But I think they still do a great job of making all the members of the fellowship likeable and memorable :) The landscapes are definitely amazing! I disagree with your sister 😅 I think this trilogy single-handedly propelled New Zeeland's tourism industry haha (where they filmed the trilogy) Regarding some of your questions (like, are hobbits related to dwarves, or the relationship between orcs and elves, or the difference between Sauron and Saruman), I would highly recommend this (spoiler-free!) 4-minute video that perfectly summarises the mythos! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxgsxaFWWHQ Regardless, I'm really looking forward to your reactions to the next movies in the trilogy! :D And your thoughts about Gollum too 😅

To follow up on the above comment, now I finally got around to it some other notes. I'm surprised you didn't recognise Sean Astin who is Sam, as he also plays Joyce's boyfriend Bob in Stranger Things. Dominic Monaghan's Hobbit name is Merry which I think is only stated 2 or 3 times throughout compared to the others. Halflings as noted above really are just the races that look like half height humans hence the name. The larger Uruk Hai are from what I recall a crossbreed between orcs and goblins to make them bigger, stronger and take away the orc aversion to sunlight. Boromir sounding the horn I think was more him calling the others to him. Oh and all the stories Bilbo was telling near the beginning were events from the novel The Hobbit, set before this, so maybe once you are done with these you can give the Hobbit movies a watch or something. They aren't quite as good but still enjoyable.
