I was excited when Jimbei showed up, he's finally going to be an "official" part of the crew, actually traveling/fighting with them as a Straw Hat since he was asked by Luffy back on Fishman Island... that was 400+ episodes ago. I also feel a need to correct the anime again, in the manga the Beast Pirates manage to shoot like 3 or 4 samurai ships before Jimbei destroys them, not as many as the anime makes it out. It's just killing time.

This is why I can never be a Toei Defender 😂 2-3 minutes of godly animation doesn’t make up for the fact that 90% of the rest of the episode is unwatchable with its terrible pacing. Episodes like this really put a magnifying glass on it. Something that happened instantaneously in the manga somehow gets dragged out for 15 minutes, making all the straw hats look incompetent. It’s obnoxious. WIT Remake - PLEASE SAVE US 😂😭

It's crazy because everything that's happened in the last 2-3 episodes occurred in one chapter of the manga lol I love watching the anime and seeing/hearing things come to life, but I wish animators would make better choices in the future. I could see and would welcome a future remake doing something similar to what DBZ-Kai did for DBZ, and make it actually accurate to the manga.

Nah, I can’t even cap bro, i really wish they could watch an edited version or something of this because the pacing for the next like 30 episodes is absolutely heartbreaking and borderline removes tension from the story. Alot of fire animation moments but it’s really not meant to take that long for the story to advance.

It’s not animators, it’s executive owners of toei milking the one piece ip for an episode every week. Animators (workers) really just have to work with what they’re given.

Whoever is deciding the production of the episodes and the direction need to make smarter choices in the future on whatever they work on, including the studio (when I say "animators" I'm usually just grouping everything together). They're terribly paced a lot of the time. There's nothing that can be done with these episodes obviously lol so it's just letting others who don't read the manga know what's different. The newest arc however has actually been done very well so far, well paced all things considered, and I've had no complaints.

Yeah I’ve seen some of the new arc and it seems their making alot of creative choices to help with pacing. But yeah no I agree 100%. Its just that animators are a specific underpaid and underrepresented job of people who just draw, they ultimately have no say in how the production is decided. That is done by the businessmen who are in tv because it makes money. But really have no passion for it. They actually only invested into Wano because viewership was dropping off for One Piece after whole cake. So, shows how much they really care. So yeah just highlighting that.

Y’all even make the criticism hilarious. Pacing is definitely off. I started skipping episodes and fastforwarding a lot around here Ngl. I always saw momo and luffy fighting as a comedic thing like you mentioned , same with how Nami lumps up luffy sometimes.

Defending the garbage from Toei, isn’t as positive as you guys think it is. If you love one piece you should care about the story being represented in the best way possible. Stop with the toxic positivity y’all. Anybody pointing out an glaring criticism doesn’t need to silenced. If anything it validates the feelings of the reactors, rather than just wanting them to only enjoy or only say nice things. Especially when it just isn’t good. Gotta know how to have some healthy discussion guys.

Nah, it’s a popular sentiment in the one piece community. It’s why no one talks about it because people just want you to shut up and enjoy whatever is put out. And they act like you’re actively criticizing one piece when you have a problem with the corporate mistreatment, and by effect crap on any attempts to mitigate this issue.

Many people are discussing the pacing in One Piece, which makes sense. But it's important to know that Toei isn't solely in charge of it. Decisions about when the show airs are usually made by Shueisha, Fuji TV, and Toei together. In Japan, One Piece airs on Fuji TV early on Sundays. Fuji TV doesn't want to give Toei long breaks because it would leave a gap in their schedule. Shueisha owns Shonen Jump, where the manga is published. All these entities are stakeholders in the franchise, functioning as producers. If they don't agree, big changes can't happen easily. Some might ask, "Why not just make filler episodes?" But all the companies need to agree on that, and it's not always possible. Fuji TV might not like fillers because they could make viewers lose interest and the show might get canceled. So, it's up to Toei Animation to work with what they have to make each episode. Toei getting more breaks lately is a good sign. It shows that everyone involved wants to keep the show good, which means more money for them in the end.

One thing to note is that more awareness about the pacing issue and more people actually opening their eyes to it. Leads to more incentive for all sides to come to an agreement. The only thing that less awareness does is give more power and leverage to the anti filler, slow pacing decision making for whoever is all in agreement. If viewership doesn’t decline and fans convince themselves it’s acceptable, why change anything?

I agree with you. It's not just Toei Animation calling the shots for One Piece. They're sticking to an older model used in TV shows from the '90s. Changing it would be tough. One Piece by Toei will likely stay weekly. Newer shows often follow a different model, more like movies. The One Piece will most likely be seasonal and use the newer model. The teaser for it showed Toei Animation, Shueisha, and Fuji TV as sponsors, along with Netflix, showing they're all involved.
