Kuma didn't marry Ginny because he was afraid it would lead to her being enslaved and killed by the celestials. But it happened anyway and he wasn't there to protect her. So sad.

"Nobody ever dies in One Piece", nah, instead Oda just repeatedly crushes the character's soul over and over again, making living a nightmare. In a lot of ways, that's worse than death. Kuma is literally a gentle pacifist who deserved none of the horrendous things he got 😢

I got bamboozled. I thought we'd save Ginny, then have Bonney, then something happens to Ginny. But instead we get this disgusting Celestial behaviour and now Kuma isn't the real Dad? This backstory is pissing me off, someone needs to go blow up Marie Jois or something.

I don't agree with the sentiment that he doesn't kill any characters, he's killed a lot throughout the series, some people just don't agree because "it's mostly in flashbacks". But I will agree there are a couple I can name that should've stayed dead lol

she was kidnapped and enslaved at maryjoa for 2 years so I don't think so. Honestly I feel like it being a random celestial would be worse. Like any random no name celestial has the power to steal your girl and force her to bear children. It Honestly makes it so much more real how much they suck.

The subtext for the Celestial’s predatory behavior has always been there. In Boa’s backstory, they said her and her sister’s first image of men was as figures of fear, and it shows celestials smiling and branding them in a bedroom. They were children. As was Koala. We don’t often see a lot of women in Mariejois in general. Historically speaking, if you wanted labor, men were the better option. Women weren’t used for that, rather mostly for finer more dexterous tasks like weaving or sewing, or cooking. Or worse… Notice how Kuma ran into his father at Mariejois but never his mother? She was taken away and he never saw her again. His father said it was better this way. What do you suppose that one celestial wanted Camie for? Or Shirahoshi? They’re not just trophies. They’re for this This backstory will re-contextualize much of the story to date. Seeing Kuma again on rewatch is going to be very difficult now…
