One thing I don't like about this anime is that in One Piece we see Zoro's backstory once, just once, and it's only like a few minutes. That backstory is powerful enough for us know where Zoro's head is at for most of the series and it never shows it again even when it's padding out time. This anime shows us the naruto backstory and the sasuke backstory over and over again ad nauseum and it's so long like I get the idea from like the first 5 episodes of the original naruto i don't need to see any of this anymore. Like imagine if any time Nico Robin did anything it played the I Want To Live scene like make it stop.

Every single character in every single fictional story has plot armor until they don't. Sasuke AND Naruto are both driven by fate and therefore have a bigger significance towards the story. Same thing with Luffy, he has since the start been a heaven sent boy, it has quite literally been that way since the start, for instance during Lougetown. And is, again, quite literally been a plotpoint since the start of the story. You act like plot armor in and of itself is a bad thing, it is not. Why is "power of friendship" inherently bad? I can bet you think that it is, because you've heard others say it, but do you even know why you think that way? What matters is how it is executed, like anything else. The only thing I can say is that Naruto and Sasuke being intertwined by fate like this was not in the story, prominently, until the first Final Valley fight, and so you can argue it should have been made more clear earlier in the story. But this far into Shippuden, it really should be obvious to any viewer. And so when you get these two fate-driven characters together in the story, of course you can expect something "otherworldly" to happen. You can argue that the way the author splits these two characters up again, because it is not the right time, could have been writen better. Sure, but them splitting up again should not be that big of a suprise. I can argue that anything that happens in any story is an "ass pull" because that is the truth, but that sounds disingenous and dumb because it negates any and all conversation about the art.
