PART 1 — Install ReShade
Step 1 — Download ReShade
Download the latest official version of ReShade from:
Always download ReShade from the official website.
Step 2 — Start the ReShade installer
After downloading ReShade, open the .exe installer.
Step 3 — Select your game
Choose:
"Click here to select a game and manage its ReShade installation."
Select the .exe of the game you want to use with AdaptiveVision.
Important: Make sure you select the actual game executable and not a launcher.
Step 4 — Select the correct graphics API
ReShade will ask which graphics API the game uses.
Select the API used by your game:
Direct3D 9
Direct3D 10/11/12
OpenGL
Vulkan
If you are unsure which API your game uses, check the game's documentation, PCGamingWiki, or ask for help on my Discord.
Using the wrong API can prevent ReShade from loading correctly.
Step 5 — Install the ReShade shader packages
When ReShade asks which shader packages you want to install, install the standard shader packages you need for your existing presets.
For AdaptiveVision itself, you also need the AdaptiveVision shader included with your Patreon download.
PART 2 — Install AdaptiveVision
Step 6 — Open the AdaptiveVision download
Extract the AdaptiveVision ZIP you received from Patreon.
You will find the AdaptiveVision shader inside the package.
Do not rename the .fx file.
Step 7 — Install the AdaptiveVision shader
Place the AdaptiveVision .fx file into:
Game Folder └── reshade-shaders └── Shaders └── AdaptiveVision_x.xx.fx
The Shaders folder is the normal location ReShade uses for effect files.
Your game folder should look roughly like this:
Game.exe ReShade.ini YourPreset.ini reshade-shaders └── Shaders └── AdaptiveVision_x.xx.fx
The exact ReShade DLL filename depends on the graphics API selected during installation.
PART 3 — Install the AdaptiveVision Preset
Step 8 — Copy the AdaptiveVision preset
If the Patreon download includes an AdaptiveVision .ini preset, copy it into the same folder as the game's .exe.
Example:
Game Folder ├── Game.exe ├── GAME_BAL.ini ├── ReShade.ini └── reshade-shaders └── Shaders └── AdaptiveVision_x.xx.fx
ReShade presets are .ini files and can be selected from the preset menu inside the ReShade interface.
PART 4 — Start the Game
Step 9 — Launch the game
Start the game normally.
If ReShade was installed correctly, the ReShade overlay should appear when the game starts.
The default key for opening the ReShade interface is usually:
Home / Pos1
Open the ReShade interface.
PART 5 — Select the AdaptiveVision Preset
Step 10 — Select the preset
Open the preset dropdown at the top of the ReShade interface.
Select your GAME_BAL.ini preset.
ReShade will then load the techniques and settings stored in the preset.
PART 6 — Check AdaptiveVision
Step 11 — Check the shader
Open the Home tab in ReShade.
Look for the AdaptiveVision techniques.
The preset's Techniques line tells you which shaders the preset expects to be available.
Make sure AdaptiveVision is visible and enabled.
