My Question: have you ever had to give a friend or family member bad news about a relationship that you found out? (aka: new their partner was cheating). Did you do what Pheobe did or did you keep it to yourself even if you knew. 😳

Samir

Yeah I also don’t understand the whole waiting till birth to know the sex of the Baby. Of I were to have kids I wanna know the sex 😅 Id like to have everything prepared in advance including a name lol

I love to do this rewatch (for me) of Friends with you being a first timer. I always say that when I have kids I wanna know what they would be asap. I like to plan ahead so I think about everything that I have to buy and decorate. And also, raising boys or girls are two different things (believe me I’m a nanny) and the mindset is definitely different so it’s good to be prepared for that too. Can’t wait for the next episode!

I have 2 kids and both times I found out as soon as possible (9 or 10 weeks with a blood test). We didn't do any type of gender reveal, but since we knew so early we just told people when we told them I was pregnant. I'm just very much an information person - I like to know as much information as possible and it would bother me to no end to know that I could get the information but didn't have it. It always boggles my mind when people don't want to find out. I have one friend that didn't find out for any of his 4 kids! And another that the couple disagreed on wanting to know or not, so they didn't find out for the first, did find out for the second, and now aren't finding out for the third. I just don't understand how you can go 9 months wondering.

I missed you Audrey. So glad you seem to be recuperating well. I am recuperating from ankle surgery. Glad to have you back.

I think I'd wanna know the sex but even if I didn't it would probably be too hard for me to go through with it. Like when you know you can find out, the curiosity gets the better of you. It was different back in the day when we didn't have the technology. You made a great point about being 'prepared' because there is a difference in raising a boy or a girl. But everyone is different so I respect that some people just don't want to know. I also understand the aspect that it shouldn't matter what sex it is, it's still your child and you'll love them either way. And as for gender reveal parties... I have nothing against them AS LONG as it doesn't get out of hand (people have literally been injured and even DIED), but it should be called 'sex reveal' considering that trans people exist and sex & gender are two different things. Also, Jenna Karvunidis, the woman who invented the idea of a 'gender reveal party', is completely against it: https://people.com/parents/how-gender-reveal-creator-jenna-karvunidis-view-on-gender-changed-thanks-to-daughter/#:~:text=Jenna%20Karvunidis%20has%20changed%20her,gender%20reveal%20party%22%20in%202008. Anyway, to the episode. I'm one of the biggest Friends fans ever but I'm not afraid to call out when it's problematic. There are some great jokes for sure and Ross is sweet but also a little selfish. His friend literally told him she was ASSAULTED and all he can think about is getting a chance with Rachel. Actually, none of the friends seem to care or even acknowledge that Paolo didn't just hit on Phoebe, he assaulted her! I think that's what pisses me off most about this episode. However, I have to remember this was in the mid-90s, WAY before #MeToo and SA wasn't talked about as much. But still, #JusticeForPhoebe. Btw, the song they are humming in the beginning of the episode is the theme to The Odd Couple and when Ross starts humming again it is the theme to I Dream of Jeannie. Matthew Perry later starred in a newer version of The Odd Couple. And fun fact: Throughout the episode there are blue items everywhere (mainly clothing) hinting that the baby is a boy.

the password isn't working for me, is there a new password to watch? It isn't updated on the pinned post.

So normally I am an extreme planner but i think if I were to have kids I would not want to know sex. I also think that I wouldn’t want to have a name set until the baby is born as well. I have a list of names that I love and I’d want to get a feel for who they are first before giving them a name that they are going to have to live with their entire life.

For my first I waited until birth to know the gender lol it was so much joy hearing "It's a Boy!" when you don't know what you are having. It made the whole experience so much more excited imo, any baby is exciting but the not knowing was extra special to me. I also liked not experincing "Gender disappointment" during pregnancy, I know a lot of parents after finding out the gender while still pregnant they get disapointed cause it isn't the one they expect or want so their whole pregnancy becomes tainted in that feeling. I enjoyed my whole pregnancy and it was a joy no matter what gender they would have been :)

My plan is to foster and/or adopt but if I were to have kids biologically I think I would want to know for the nursery and I would have names picked out however I would be sure to still have some things that were gender neutral and have names for both genders just because I know those tests are never fully accurate and you could be told you were having one gender but you end up with the opposite gender. I work as a nursing assistant in a maternity unit at a hospital and there have been some times where the parents are told they are having one gender but they end up having the other gender. I remember one where the couple was having twins and they took the blood test and was told they were having two boys and all the ultrasounds made it seem like they were having two boys but when they gave birth they had one boy and one girl. So things are not always accurate so I would definitely be prepared if I were to have find biologically.

I found out with my son. I had to know what clothes to buy and how to decorate the nursery lmao But, in all seriousness, it would have driven me crazy not knowing.

Heida

Luckily, I haven't been in that situation but I would definitely tell (as hard as it would be), especially if their partner literally assaulted me or someone else!

Jade

I think I wouldn't want to know the sex of my child before they're born. I wouldn't want to raise them based on their sex, in case they decide later that it goes against their own gender identity. Unlearning "my son" or "my daughter" sounds difficult, so I'd wanna put an emphasis on knowing them as just "my child"

Heida

Good for you for planning to foster and/or adopt!

Lucy

I wouldn't want to know - just because they can still get it wrong ( even though the tech is much better these days)

Jeanette Dawe

I didn't find out for my first and it was the most amazing experience lol with my second the tech slipped up and said "It's a girl" after I said I didn't want to know lol and third I went a while without knowing but the tech told my mom because she came to my appt with me and she can't keep a secret so she let it slip lol

Natasha Whitaker

I was so excited to find out what the sex of our baby was! I actually got in a week or two earlier than they normally do ultrasounds for that. We ended up having to go in before opening hours but it was so worth it! Everyone thought it would be a girl except for my husband and his grandpa. Turned out that they were right. Now 8 (almost 9) years later I’m still a boy mom and can’t imagine life without our Andyman!

Amy Winslow

FYI, the song in the beginning they were all humming was The Odd Couple theme.

Mary

It’s ThisKiss99

I am such a planner so I definitely wanted to know when I had my son. It worked out well because my husband wanted to know as well.

Heather M

I have 5 kids, and each time wanted to know as soon as possible!

Azure R.

If I were to ever have kids I would definitely want to know the sex of the baby. Granted, the only way I can have kids is either adoption or surrogacy. So with adoption you're definitely gonna know, if the baby is already born that is. But even if I was adopting a baby from someone who hasn't given birth to the baby yet, still gonna want to know.

iEffinLoveBacon

I am a PLANNER. I definitely found out the sexes of my children as soon as I possibly could, lol.
