Unfortunately I’m going to have to break the bubble of love for Charlie cause two weeks ago he was posted on a woman’s Saftey fb group in nyc for ghosting multiple women after they confronted him about giving them chlamydia. Men ain’t shit 🫤

Liv Heskett

I think it’s funny that you only see ally as this bubbly girl cause I feel like everything she’s been in professionally has been pretty dark/sexy/mean. Spring awakening was really dark. Oklahoma she was sexy, and it was also pretty dark. And then on glee, she played the bitch. 😂

Marek Barwinek

Saying "I'm never gonna take this for granted" after hugging Grant Gustin? Idk why but I kinda snorted lmao

My winner would have been Blake. I just feel like he had everything that they were looking for. Someone who’s easy to work with adaptable and someone who just shines. I think Ali came as a second based on star quality. And while she has a good voice I just didn’t ever feel “star” from Aylin. I think her voice is good but compared to what they have on glee I don’t think it’s enough to overcompensate for the acting ability. The only acting I liked from her was her crying in the car but that was cause she was already emotional. Her other acting felt forced and unnatural. So she would have been my third pick. I really do wish that they did some more with Blake’s character. I actually liked his character in the fourth season. I thought that he had a lot of potential and then obviously we know what happened in season five and they just kind of dropped all character development for the new characters. They could’ve really leaned in to the fact that he had dyslexia and he couldn’t read. I’m also mad that they dropped his sexual assault storyline. But kept the catfish storyline going on for like five episodes. I love glee, but sometimes character, development decisions, or questionable to say the very least. 😂

I find myself thinking that if this had happened earlier on in the series that Aylin would have 100% fit right in with the Trebletones. Both vocally and just with the whole vibe their storylines had. Ali probably could have too, honestly. For her specifically though I think she could have been fun competition for Rachel when she was going through the Broadway storyline. Maybe trying to get the same roles. Blake... I'm kind of "meh" about. I get why they chose him given how consistent he was and he seemed so versatile. But I also don't really see anything that specific that makes him stand out from the other guys on the show. I'm not thinking of any storylines that he could play that I couldn't also see one of the others in the cast playing. As I guess evidence by how he sort of ended up fulfilling a "Finn" type role after he graduated. I'm not saying he's not talented or good at acting he just doesn't spark any ideas for me as if I was a writer for the show lol. I'm left thinking what would I do with him that wasn't already done by Finn, Sam, Artie or even the winners from the previous season.

Lydia Shepard

I would have picked Aylin but I feel they picked Blake though because of the needs casting wise. It being season 4 and needing a Finn type character in New Directions I believe that is really why Blake won. Blake was good but I always thought Aylin was better. Its also a shame that they never asked her on the show as they did have Aly maje an appearence on an episode but not Aylin. And its a shame I haven't heard much of what she has been up to although I did see her in an episode of the TV show "The Fosters".

Jennifer Lawrence

The catfish storyline was one of my least favorite ones. And how they just sort of glossed over the SA storyline and played it for jokes was just gross. I get that that's a common reaction, especially from teenage boys, but it could have been handled better. Definitely a missed opportunity as it's so, so rarely shown with a male victim.

Jennifer Lawrence

Ew, that's just foul. Charlie why 😭 I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU

Liv Heskett

I know I was so disappointed. But also proud of those women for sharing so other women can be warned. Unfortunate

Liv Heskett

And with kitty relating I would have loved to see that storyline. Such a missed opportunity

Megan Christina

For me, Blake was always just.. the typical dude. He could sing, and he could act, but I didn't think he was going to bring anything special or new to the cast (and I was right). I love Ali to bits, but I 100% would have chosen Aylin. She was someone we hadn't seen represented and I think the power and magic of her voice was something kind of missing from the later cast. I'm still salty that Blake won.

Ellie

I agree, I get why Blake was picked but the fact they underutilized him makes no sense. They wanted a finn then they barely did anything with him, built up Jake just to burn the character development. WHY

Elisha Li

Ali ended up being on a couple episodes of glee! Also, fun fact, “ Ali Stroker will stand out not only as the first-ever Tony-nominated performer who uses a wheelchair — she’s up for best featured actress in a musical for her role as Ado Annie in the revival of Oklahoma…”

Wayne Joy

Watching this season with you was the first time I saw this season. I hoped that the mentor for this week would have been Matthew Morrison since he was one of the original artists of the song they were singing 'You Can't Stop The Beat'. I could have been happy with any of the final three winning though I would have probably gone with Ali or Aylin. As you know Blake was on several episodes of Glee and Ali was on one episode where she played a character who went on a blind date with Artie.

Kailey

they kinda made Ryder a combo of Finn/Sam without being his own character. Sam mentioned he has dyslexia and they never did anything with it and just gave it to him lol. Then mid way through season 5 all the season 4 newbies minus Kitty coming back in were just dropped some of these choices they made are just wild as much as I love the show.

Kailey

and its funny how comments are made about Ali and how all she sees is just the sunshine nice girl when her one episode appearance on glee she was SOOO mean lmao I think if they didn't have all 4 from last season make a appearance they might have been more flexible with these 3 and given them all a chance.

Shannon Hartman

I'm thinking we should rewatch episode 14 of season 4 of Glee for Patreon, now that we know Ali, and it doesn't seem like this episode is remembered. Loved her character on Glee.

Wrai Vizner

Watching these with you has been so fun! This season for sure was the better season.

Jennifer Lawrence

I'll forever be mad over the choices they made for Jake's character. Especially since that group of characters just sort of... Disappeared.

Landon Ballesteros

Team Aylin for me, though I really have come around to love Blake's final performance and poem more than I did back then. I just really value Glee as representation for the outcast, and IMO that's just not Blake. At the same time, he did have incredible work ethic and professionalism and I'm happy that he won. On the flip side, it really makes me wonder what direction the show COULD have gone had Aylin won. If we think about the graduates this season, losing Lea/Naya/Amber from the McKinley set is a big loss vocally, and IMO Aylin really could have filled that void without the risk of being stereotyped by the viewers as Rachel 2.0, Santana 2.0, or Mercedes 2.0 as has been the case with Marley and Unique, the vocal powerhouses that would be added in season 4. Specifically referring to the character Marley, she was introduced as an aspiring "singer on the radio," but I believe that because Melissa Benoist does have a theatrical voice/background and physical similarities to Lea Michele, the whole "New Rachel" thing was the character's downfall from the beginning. Aylin bearing little physical resemblance to Lea, and having a more pop voice, and having a completely new ethnic/religious background, would've been easier for the viewers to accept as the Glee club's new leading lady in a season where the viewers are already so hard pressed about the original cast's departure. Heck, even having Aylin as Kitty would have helped to avoid the Quinn 2.0 backlash as well. But, if Aylin filled the void of Marley or Kitty, then who would the 2nd new ND male have been besides Jake? Could it have been an opportunity to take on another male character we haven't seen before instead of a new Finn/Sam-type football player role? So intriguing to think about. I've seen Aylin on an episode of 911 (interestingly another Ryan Murphy show) but other than that haven't seen much of her, so I really do hope she keeps going because she really is a great talent. Ali of course, Tony winner!

Benjamin Smith

I don’t think they would’ve needed another male lead if they had Jake. Plus they still had Blaine and Sam in ND at the time. I honestly wish they had propped Jake up more as the male lead since he could sing and dance very well.

Landon Ballesteros

I completely agree. With the void left behind by Finn, Puck, Mike, and Kurt, Jake easily satisfies 3/4 alone - the leading man of Finn, the bad boy of Puck, and the dance ability of Mike. I do think the writers would have fleshed out the cast with 2 new boys and 2 new girls regardless, especially cuz we know these writers are so obsessed with their love polygons. Or I don’t know, maybe they could have had 3 new girls (Marley, Kitty, and Aylin) and just Jake since there was such a male-heavy cast in Season 3. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Selma Jabr

I knew Chris was a guest! It makes sense that he would last because his glee audition is the reason for the GP to exist in the first place. So saving the best for last of you ask me. Also he was never the original Artie. He never got the part but the role of Kurt was written for him because Ryan saw something in him. Fun fact: they got the name Kurt Hummel because Chris played Kurt in the SOM in school and at age 17-18 (when he auditioned) he resembled a German doll collection called Hummel Dolls. And I loved seeing Damian again! Agreed he’s not exactly a dancer but he was on Dancing with the Stars: Ireland semi recently and while he didn’t win, he was very good. Starting with Ali, I have to agree with you. She’s very talented but I didn’t get much depth from her. Now the character she plays in I Do is a head cheerleading bitch and she plays that role very well, but it wasn’t translated into this show or that music video as much. Plus in her final solo, she played a character while the others showed themselves. Blake’s biggest asset is his acting. While his character is pretty forgettable, (the writers fault) he got to show off his acting chops quite a few times. But I think a big factor into his win in his resemble to Finn Hudson, and they saw an opportunity to keep that energy going in the new and different season. And I have to say that you saying he looks angry a lot and him saying that he will never change who he is are both big for-shadowers into his true nature. You said that you didn’t get a wounded person from him? It’s because he’s the one doing the wounding. The poem he wrote was a big help as well. BTW, I had no idea that he is half Cuban. I %100 would have gone with Aylin too. Maybe because I’m Arab and biased but she offers something that no one else has. Glee prides itself on representing all walks of like but she is proof that that is not totally true. Plus with the new season and fans already being unsure about the new characters, bringing in someone completely different than previous characters would’ve been the smart move. And I LOVE her and Charlie’s relationship! The way he stood up for her and brought up the topic Islamophobia to the table is like relationship goals. She’s the winner in my heart!

My winner would have bien Aylin. But, honestly, I am not sure the writers could have handled that storyline. They never been great about race, truthfully. I am not sure they could do anything sensible about islam.

SongsFromASuitcase

We dont know the full story. He could have been embarrassed and didnt knwo beforehand. Men often dont have any symptoms.

SongsFromASuitcase

yes!! Totally agree! Well put. ... plus I also agree we could always had more Jake

RookieRevolution

I will forever have the theory that Ryder Lynn was already a character and they just cast Blake in it when he won, the character just fit in too well with the integrated storylines and they were always going to cast a new Finn type so if Blake didn’t win I still think we would’ve gotten Ryder Lynn. I think we could of just as easily seen Melissa Benoist, Jacob Artist or Becca Tobin compete on this season. I think it was more just a publicity stunt and Blake was already cast.

JUSTICE FOR AYLIN

fry

i love that ryan had her in another one of his 20 million other shows

fry

ryder was supposed to be the new finn but tbh i always felt like marley had heavy finn hudson vibes especially when he started mentoring her in s4 too

Jay Johnston

I think it was to excuse casting him because I can't remember which episode it was but he mentioned having a girlfriend and it came out that the girlfriend was Melissa Benoist. Kinda like how I think Samuel Larson winning S1 was an excuse to cast him since he'd already auditioned for Glee before and it's come out recently that he skipped most of the casting process for S1

Cai R

Who do you think was the top 3 singers of the group ranked?

Cai R

Aylin could've been a more interesting character
