Mari Castro

A coming out party, is a traditional high-society event. Parents introduce their daughters into society, signaling their entry into the marriage market and social life.

I like Luke fine but no one's ever gonna dethrone Max for me. Loved him when I was a teen and still loving him over 20 years later. If you're gonna watch The 10th Kingdom with your super fans I'm gonna have to upgrade my membership 😅 I watched that series before Gilmore Girls and was delighted that he was in both. Though I prefer him in his role as Max tbh. So glad to be rewatching GG with you!

The young ladies that participate in Coming Out Balls/Parties are called "debutantes" or a "deb" for short.

I’m glad we finally reached the first town meeting, they are always entertaining. Also I really really like Max but I adore Luke

Barry

Hope you react to sparkle one day it's like the dream girls movie but with Jordan Sparks and Whitney Houston The music in that movie gets you moving lol 😅 also I tried to watch this by myself and to be honest it didn't feel the same then watching it on here 😂

RE: Cinnamon's pronouns - there's lots of little details like that that slip/change throughout the show. It occasionally bothers my detail-obsessed brain but for the most part it doesn't phase me anymore. Probably just because I've seen the series so many times.

I love how the picture of her dad is clearly not the actor who plays christopher later 😆

I have to say I don’t like Max. I don’t know why, I just think that this might gonna end bad for Rory. I hope Lorelai will be with Luke, he is great and they have an amazing connection

This is my favorite episode of season 1. Lorelai and her love for snow! And it’s the first time you see the feelings Luke has for Lorelei written clear as day on his face. Ps. Im an 80s baby and one of my favorite movies was The Huggabunch movie…cheesy as it was! Haha.. I love all things 80s (I even have an entire sleeve of 80s cartoons tattooed on my leg and going out in public wearing shorts always becomes a whole ordeal lol).

Watching this in my “I smell snow” tshirt while we still have snow/ice on the ground from out first snow of the season here in TN. This weekend we got about an inch of snow followed by 4 inches of ice that caused a ton of damage along with long power and internet outages throughout most of middle Tennessee. I have lived in a few states further north where we would get several feet of snow multiple times throughout the winter and I still love snow, but I definitely prefer the 1 to 2 times of maybe a few inches for the whole winter that we get here instead.

Lorelei reminds me of Taylor swift both in mannerisms and looks that’s just my opinion though

I’ve never really watched this show before, but decided to watch it with you. For some reason I always put it off when it was suggested to me (I was born in ‘06 so this show started six years before I was born and ended by the time I was 1) But,so far so good🫶🏾 (also just discovered a short docu series on Netflix called “Popstar Academy: Katseye” where they take a bunch of girls age 14-21 from all around the world and train them through the rigorous “Kpop method” under two famous labels Hybe( Literally all things Kpop) and Geffen Records(Olivia Rodrigo) mastering their singing, dancing, and their “look”so they can create a global girl group of six. They practically blew up over night. I also heard they were nominated for a Grammy in two different categories after only 2 years of the group in this year’s grammys. I think you would be really interested in it especially the vocal side of things since they had a great vocal coach, and a lot of the girls had never had a singing lesson in their lives. You should definitely check it out on your own time if you have any, even if its not for Patreon or YouTube)

“Coming out in society” or social debut. In this day and age it’s more of a coming of age thing, typically 16-18, in the form of a Debutante Ball.

Alicia

My heart broke for Luke. But I also love Max. My preteen self was so very conflicted.

Lucy

Yes me too but I forgive it too lol but I only just noticed cinnamon's pronouns lol

Lucy

Luke's sad puppy dog eyes hit me every time I see this episode 🥹 but then I'm like dude ask her out then you got noone to blame but yourself ..... But ... This is a TV show and of course he can't blah blah blah lmao 🤣

Debutante Ball or Coming-out-in-Society-Ball: In the past, the ball was the moment when young women (usually aged 17 or 18) were considered "marriageable". They were introduced to potential suitors from similar circles. Nowadays, it is more of a festive tradition, often associated with charitable causes. Just a quick reminder that Gilmore Girls' Dean is playing Sam in Supernatural, and he has a brother named Dean. I just watched an episode in which Gilmore Girls was mentioned, and Sam ran off. If I'm not mistaken, The 10th Kingdom is a miniseries with five episodes, each 85–90 minutes long.

Every time I think of Max, I think of this episode and say his full name - "Max Medina, Maaax Medina". I've been behind, but am catching up. I'm loving your reactions to this show! It is my ultimate comfort show and I've seen it too many times to count. It has been awhile, though, so I'm glad to watch it through with you!

Luke sees Lorelai and Max kiss: Luke: 🎵 Hand touch. Eyes meet. Sudden silence. Sudden heat. Hearts leap, and are filled with joy. She could be that girl. But I'm not that boy.🎶

Sierra Chandler

Funny thing about this series is that Keiko Agena who plays Lane is 27 in season 1, and is closer in age to Lauren Graham than Alexis Bledel.

Yasemin

Haha! Fellow "married without really being married" person here. :)

Yasemin

Love Luke! :)
