I know it’s frustrating not to know why Stefan doesn’t want to or can’t drink human blood. It will be explained, and the final reason comes much later in the series. So I can give you a very rough summary if you like. If so, read on; if not, I’ll just say this much: it will be explained later. So here’s the reason: Stefan can’t control himself. He literally turns into a Ripper when he starts drinking human blood and has, on several occasions, accidentally torn the person’s head off in the process.

okay- bloodbags going missing - you can't just charm one person about the number they have. there are records, and probably a lot of staff members involved who handle them etc. They have to keep resupplying. also, if it was the tomb vampires, they don't really care who knows about it? Also the Stefan and not drinking blood, can you compare it to any real life non-blood situation?i feel like you bring the issue up about other characters but then hold him to a different standard. I love your reactions and I've followed you for years, but maybe because it hits a bit home, you saying "why can't he have a little bit" or "elena should offer" or "he should just drink it idk why he doesn't drink it" when it is an obvious choice he is making to abstain feels a bit yukky. Regardless of what it is, if a person is obviously struggling and is repeatedly turning something down, you (a general you, not to you personally) don't wanna be the person to keep suggesting it. And yeah, they haven't explained which is fair of you to question, but ultimately nobody saying "no" has to explain themselves. Not gonna bring it up again, just been on my mind for several episodes. Okay- just watched the end where you sort of question your stance on it. BUt then you likened it to being vegan or you not eating pork. yeah but you CAN abstain from pork without withdrawals, and pork doesn't change your personality or make you feel .. "porklust" (=bloodlust :)) ). so the comparison is a bit moot. sure, it's not alcoholism, but it's still an addiction which comes in many forms even irl. Anyway sorry rant over, i still love you reactions and i'm here to stay and continue following, but just kind of had to voice it. 😅😅

I think it isnt obv yet on the show that he struggles with it, the next episodes are where they solidified this character trait so it makes sense to me that it isnt immediately obviously an addiction issue

I was thinking this too! Even without a more detailed explanation, Stefan is clearly written as an addict and I don’t understand why he gets such different treatment in these reactions. “He’s hot” shouldn’t be enough of a reason.
