the dance that taylor swift does in her opalite video was inspired by the dance routine in this episode.

This episode is so chaotic, but it’s so incredibly funny. ❤️🤍💚 Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve is the most iconic New Year’s show of all time. It aired every New Year’s Eve leading up to the ball drop and was this huge, hours-long television event. Dick Clark hosted it from 1974-2004 before Ryan Seacrest eventually took over after Clark’s passing. For millions and millions, that was the THING to watch on New Year’s Eve, which is why the Geller duo being so determined to make it onto the broadcast feels like such a big deal. The dance routine is iconic. It’s one of those Friends moments that people still recreate today, and it never gets old. It’s also fun knowing that Friends continues to find new generations of fans. Taylor Swift has talked about loving the show and it being her fav over the years, and she even brought Lisa Kudrow onstage during one of her concerts to perform “Smelly Cat.” Selena Gomez has also spoken many times about how obsessed she is with Friends and it's her favorite show. I remember where she got to interview Jennifer Aniston, and she’s just crying. Their part of my generation, but It’s fun to see how even the newest generations keep discovering the series. I’ve seen middle schoolers and highschoolers re-create the routine dance. I’m seeing so many people under the age of 20 flock to the show because it has such a timeless pull that just makes you feel nice and cozy. Friends is like a giant hug. I love that Phoebe and Rachel were so obsessed with trying to find their Christmas presents because that was absolutely me as a kid. I think nearly every child can understand the feeling of shaking gifts, trying to guess what they are, or even peeling back a tiny corner of the wrapping paper for a sneak peek. Seeing Rachel and Phoebe still acting that way as adults is hilarious, especially because Chandler gets caught in the middle. He wants to be the person who knows what the gifts are, but he also wants to respect Monica’s wishes and keep the surprise. The whole storyline is funny, and Monica being one step ahead of them the entire time makes it even better. She knows exactly what they’re doing and lets them think they’re getting away with it, which is such a Monica thing to do. Friends 🥹🥹🥹

AHH we finally hit 'the Geller routine' episode. This always makes me giggle so much, it does take me back when my best friend and I did dance routines to our favourite bands in our living rooms thinking they were awesome...now thinking they are cringe lol however both of us remember one particular routine and when we get together we always play it and dance it for the giggles! Yes ... unfortunately this show will always fat shame - something I have never really liked tbh, but hey no show is perfect right. Aww little Joey being so cute at the end kissing Janine then that stupid song ruins it - I'm glad you said that as I think that too but my friends think I'm being silly lol me and you Audrey samesies lmao 🤣🤣🤣

I mean I’m a bit biased considering I’m from Scotland but HOW do you not know the song ‘Auld Lang Syne’???

Yes, please tell more about the crazy haunted hotel room story!!

Dana (they/them)

Regarding the Scotland hotel story: Is that even a question? Yes of course we’d love to hear details! The scary night! Even though it sounded horrible for you and I’m so sorry. Night terrors are no fucking joke, and being sensitive to energies is so real! As soon as I saw the tree, I knew Monica was gonna turn it 😂 amazing. And her leaving that note for Rachel and Phoebe knowing they would search for the presents, and knowing Chandler would get roped in too was awesome. They know each other and I love it. The dance routine was very funny. David’s weird head movements make me cackle. I can remember one time my cousins and I did a routine when we were younger. Can’t remember the dance, but I remember getting dressed up. It was the spice girls 😂 I was scary spice because I was the only one with big curly hair. Joey getting all nervous is hilarious. That kiss, without the music, was cute. Love fwens with fwens. (Edit) Also, I made the comment about the handlebars on the bed frame because when you said Monica would sit in on Chandler’s face, it made me think of it lol. When I saw the handlebars I had assumed that they were to assist with some of the face sitting activities 😂 idk why I would think that👀

Oh I definitely want to hear the hotel ghost story! We definitely have a lot of history here and many ghosts, I'm still a little scared of them but so used to it and love a ghost tour in an old city. I'm from Glasgow so I'm glad you managed to make your way there even if it was only for the hotel, most people skip it. I'm glad you had fun and enjoyed yourself despite the haunting. I think you may have went to some of the wrong places for food if you think it was bland, we have so many flavours but they're more cooked into things than added later, there's an American guy I follow who does stuff around the UK and he thought Scottish food was bland but found the amazing flavours. But also you have lived in Thailand for a long time and will be used to so many amazing spices etc and everyone is entitled to their opinion of food. But I'm glad you had fun, sorry you got night terrors though. And hell yeah! Fuck the man! 😂 I love this episode! The Gellar routine is iconic and I'm glad you picked up on Taylor/Opalite referencing it 😂

Courteney Cox has done The Routine with Ed Sheeran in recent years, you should check it out on Instagram!

“Dear losers, Do you really think I’d hide presents under the couch? P.S. Chandler, I knew they’d break you.” One of my all time favorite Friends moments. She knows them so well 😂
