David Schwimmer‘s physical comedy, again, freaking unmatched. I love the dinner scene where Rachel just keeps flubbing up and eventually Ross just slams his head on the table, that was pure genius. No one does physical comedy like him. Please just enjoy the chaos. It’s not meant to be a serious thing and I think that’s pretty obvious from the way that all the friends make fun of Ross for this. It’s very obvious it’s not going to be some cosmic long-standing romance. Matthew Perry detailed in his book how Bruce Willis’ cameo on Friends came to be: https://youtube.com/shorts/wOBtjsIC59o?is=H3uk1taGJyvHU7od Here’s another short interview where Alexandra, who plays Elizabeth, talks about David and Bruce: https://youtube.com/shorts/V_M1FKm8GGk?is=YLqjIRfbgDNrVy6O

Bruce Willis was the first of two actors on Friends to win an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Appearance

Yess david’s physical comedy is amazing, I agree you’ve got to enjoy the show loll the age gap is def weird buts it’s not like there not both consenting, also Rachel and the dad have somewhat of an age gap ik there’s is a better one but still kinda weird but yeah it’s something that is always happening in real life and the comedy we get from it is funny lol

m

rachels hair extensions are so teaa!!

Alicia

Totally agree. 🥰 I also think it’s weird when a 55-year-old dates a 30-year-old. At one point, that 55-year-old was 25, and their partner wasn’t even born yet. That’s a pretty wild generational gap to me. And this is where I find the whole argument around age and consent interesting. People act like turning 18 magically makes everything acceptable, while 17 years and 364 days is somehow an entirely different universe. Obviously, adults dating minors is a serious issue, but even when both people are well into adulthood, a massive age gap can still feel strange to me. The idea that a 20-year-old could date someone who was literally a baby when they were already old enough to vote is just absurd to think about. 😂 That said, I actually found this storyline fascinating purely because of how crazy it was. As uncomfortable as these dynamics can be, they’re definitely not uncommon.

Won’t wanna spoil it for Audrey but: Season 9, Episode 8

Dana (they/them)

This episode was so fucking funny! Audrey- “I’m on the dad’s team!” Lmao yeah you are😜😂 I loved that Rachel was too! That dinner had so many feet in both Ross and Rachel’s mouths I was cracking up! Also Monica and Chandler talking about a “lovers spat” from Chandler watching porn. I gotta say it’s never bothered me if a partner of mine watched porn. I mean shit we can watch it together 😂 But maybe if it was like a constant thing or they’d RATHER be watching porn then having sex with me it’d be a problem. But if I’m not there or am asleep or something? Have at it! I know some people want to be woken up if their partner is horny, but I am not that person. I value my sleep too much. I will be pissed at them no matter how sexy I think they are 😂

Alicia

She had SOO many different hairstyles, every one of them was popular in their time too. Ha!

m

Yess honestly all the girls I love watching their hairstyles

I know I haven't commented in a long time but I'm always here 😊 Anyway, the reveal of who Elizabeth's dad is makes this whole storyline so worth it! I've been so excited for you to see it! I'm on the dad's side too. It's the actual age, not the age difference that's the problem, aside from Ross having been her teacher of course. That's why it doesn't gross me out as much to see Rachel and Paul together because they're both mature adults and there isn't this power imbalance. But, regardless, the dinner scene is absolutely hilarious 🤣 Fun fact: Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry starred together in the movie The Whole Nine Yards (which came out the same year as this episode) and Matty actually said in his book that Bruce agreed to appear on the show because he lost a bet to him during filming of the movie regarding how much money it would make. Matty believed it would reach the top of the box office while Bruce didn't think so, so they made a bet. If Bruce lost he had to do a guest spot on the show. It went on to make $106 million worldwide and become the #1 movie in the U.S. for 3 weeks straight. Bruce was true to his word and appeared on the show. He also donated his earnings to different charities and won an Emmy for his performance, which was very well deserved. Bruce and Matty also both starred/appeared in the sequel of the movie called The Whole Ten Yards and The Kid (the latter where Matty agreed to play an uncredited role). Btw, a "plot hole" that is not really a plot hole is that the guys have talked about how much they love Die Hard and yet don't seem to recognise Bruce Willis. But that's because he's not Bruce Willis in the Friends universe 😂

omg, so glad we're at this part of the season; Bruce makes a few more cameos in the next few episodes this season (not exactly sure how many total). Can't wait for your reactions to them. I read in an article somewhere that the reason he (Bruce) was on the show was that he lost a bet to his co-star at the time, Matthew Perry. They appeared in The Whole Nine Yards together in 2000. The bet was that Bruce didn't think their movie would be the number one box office hit, which apparently it did (I wouldn't know; I've never seen it lol). He (Bruce) had to work basically for free as a guest star on the show. It was later said that, per union rules, he did get a paycheck, but he donated it to charity.

Sorry if this is tmi in advance 😂 My fiancé watches/d porn pretty frequently and I REALLY don't like it. It almost feels like cheating to me. We still have a great and healthy sex life but he still watches/d porn to get off, even after we've had sex and I'm not able to make him come. It makes me feel like I am not enough for him. Tbh, I am a very insecure person and I have a very low self-esteem, though he has helped a lot with that by treating me like a queen and telling me how beautiful and sexy I am. But there's always this part of me that feels like he's too good for me, too sexy for me, and like I'm not enough. And a part of me thinks I'm just being childish and unreasonable. But the other part is like "why can't I make him come but a strange woman on the internet can?" Good thing is he's not hiding it from me but that's also the bad thing. He does it when I'm in the room, when I'm laying next to him in bed and clearly not asleep. I can MAYBE understand him doing it when I'm not home but when I'm literally next to him and would be more than willing to get him off... that really hurts. As much as I value my sleep I'd actually prefer if he woke me up instead of watching that. And yes, I tried talking to him about it but he just said it has nothing to do with me not being enough for him and that it's just a tool to quickly get off. But I can't help feeling how I feel. I even tried watching with him while we both touched ourselves and, yeah, I came, but not bc the porn turned me on, it was bc of him. All I need is to think of him bc HE is enough for me. He bought me a vibrator recently (which I didn't ask for but am grateful for) and even tried comparing the two... but, like, that is an OBJECT. I'm not looking at other men/people. We actually got into a massive fight the other day and I was about ready to leave him when he said he'd stop because he doesn't wanna lose me (he already almost did but in an entirely different way). We calmed down, talked and made up. But I'm still afraid to ask him if he's done it since. I realise he could continue doing it in secret but I choose to trust him.

Aww I love seeing Danny! It’s been a while 🥹

Lucy

Ahhh Audrey I am in the dad's team too - 100%! It gives me the ick thinking of this story line, but I love Bruce Willis as the dad - both thier comedic timings are spot on! And yup I love the fact that Rachel hooks up with the dad, and when Ross said ' this is weird for me!' Again hit the nail on the head there, so you can go out with Rachel's sister, but heaven forbid she goes out with a slightly older man who's the dad of the 20 YEAR OLD you are dating!!!!! Toddler he has the the attitude of a spoiled, whiny toddler! But it is super funny 🤣

Dana (they/them)

I’ve spent most of my adult life in a career where tmi isn’t really a thing, it’s hard to surprise me. I’d maybe put the tmi warning at the top of the comment just in case for other folks. But your feelings are absolutely valid and that sounds like a lot to unpack and navigate for sure. Sounds like he might have some mental blocks. One’s own insecurities can make it harder, too. And I’m not trying to give advice or anything but I’d personally maybe think about talking to a therapist or someone who works with intimacy if that’s a possibility. Sending good vibes your way✨

Heida

Thank you for validating my feelings and for the advice, it means a lot ❤️
