This is great, I love the way you compare the series with the movie. I hope you continue it. 😍 Also the HSMTMTS cast did a live acoustic version of this song too which shows off all their vocals. You should react to this too. 😊 https://youtu.be/S35z6I2ArG8

Just letting you know I’m not sure if someone already said it, but Kenny Ortega was the director and choreographer for all HSM movies. The Kenny Ortega who directed and choreographed many times for Michael Jackson

Georgia Beauchemin

We sang this in my grade 5 concert many, many years ago.

Interesting - I never once associated the choreography with “hip-hop,” but I guess some of those moves can be misconstrued as such. All in all, it was pretty tame and I think a lot of other films at the time were more blatantly trying to do hip hop choreography and this didn’t feel like that at all. I also feel like the repeated movement during the refrain was built in so children could dance along! They even had a dance-along version air on Disney Channel where, they would teach the choreo to the musical numbers and basically everyone in my age group, even now I would say, can do the choreography, which is kind of a perfect way to popularize your movie.

High School Musical was directed and choreographed by Michael Jackson's tour director so he is extremely familiar with his choreography. As you probably know now by doing the watch party, the guy doing the Jackson like choreo was Sharpay's brother.
