Hi! When I first started this 3D printing and design journey, I had no idea how many awesome people I’d cross paths with along the way. One of those people is Buckle N’ Shackle β€” a fellow designer, specializing in fidget bolts! We’ve been tossing around the idea of a collaboration for a while now, and we finally found the time to make it happen! This piece is a bit of a departure from our usual work, but that’s what made it exciting β€” it gave us a chance to try something different and mix things up.

This little guy is part fidget, part face-maker. The "clicker" acts more like a tool to rotate and position the various facial pieces β€” eyes, nose, mouth β€” so you can create a whole bunch of expressions. Plus, there’s a fidget bolt and a spinning stitch built in for some extra satisfying movement. If you're loving this style and want to see more of Buckle N' Shackles work check out his Patreon!

⚠️⚠️⚠️ This Franken Fidget does require some assembly - Buckle N' Shackle has created this amazing Instructional Assembly Video to help! πŸ§ŸπŸ’šπŸ§Ÿ

⚠️⚠️⚠️ Another NOTE: There are two 'versions' of interlocking mechanisms for this. Initially we had 4 components on which facial features would be slid onto to make up the full Franken Fidget:

Hair/Forehead

Eye / Nose piece

Mouth

Neck

Upon realization some pieces could be merged, there has been an additional version added with only 3 components which merges piece 1 (Hair/Forehead) & piece 2 (Eye/Nose). The files for 3 piece and 4 piece have been separated so you can choose your own poison!

Like most of my designs, this is a clicky design that requires a mechanical keyboard switch to make the clicky part. These models feature a universal base design which has been tested with many keyboard switches and 99% of them work! I have an up to date list of verified clickers with links you can find HERE. This design should be compatible with most MX style keyboard switches, however, the two metal contacts on the bottom of the switch must be clipped off flush (or folded over) to ensure the switch seats properly in the base (this is a destructive process).

This pack contains 2 unique sets of facial features. There are also 2 sets of interlocking mechanisms, one with 4 components and one with only 3 components, combining the hair and eye pieces into one.

This is amazing! So excited to print it and see what response it gets.

I cannot get the nut to screw onto the bolt. There is no clearance at all. Can you please advise what I can try to get this to work? Thanks

Pawpular Prints

Hi Attila, did you print the threaded pieces with 2 or 3 outer walls? I found it went together super easy with 2 walls but at 3 walls, it got really tight

Buckle N' Shackle

This part is tighter than normal so I also suggest increasing the Nut πŸ”© size by a percentage or two and it should screw on. (Then glued)

Attila

I used 4 walls for the bolt (as recommended). I will try dropping the number of walls

Attila

Good idea on the nut size. I had not tried that yet. I did try taking bolt size down a percent or two and then the fitment in the body became tight.

Pawpular Prints

Oh are you talking about the neck bolt? Sorry, too early in the morning. I thought you meant the threads that connects the body pieces together. The neck bolt should be good at 4 layers outer walls but like James said, try increasing the size of the nut by a percent or two!

Attila

The body parts went together easy peasy

Attila

I finally got a fit (albeit really tight) by dropping the bolt to 99% and increasing the nut to 106%. I am using Bambu filament. I dont know why this is, but I got it done!
