scra and co in raven council hall, staring at leader of the Hunt raven.

ree: (to scra) yo scra…why does that raven have the same face as you? except for the -

raven: eyes. 

kioki: told you it was interesting. 

gera: what is happening here? Daelen?

Daelen: (steps forward urgently, dropping stag) where is she? is she here with you?

s: (takes step back, startled. Ky steps forwards protectively) who -

D: your mother. where is she.

S: my…what…i was orphaned...I don't know -

gera: Daelen

D: (sobers) who are you all? you are not from this continent

farrah: how would you know -

D: because i would have found her. found the both of you.

r: why would you be -

Ky: you’re his father.

(stunned silence)

D: i have searched this entire landmass, its islands, its tunnels, for gone 20 years. She left here when you were just-lain, carrying your egg off into the night. She is my mate, my only, and if you bear such a resemblance to me, you must be mine, too. 

s: (shaking head) sorry, no, that’s - I’m not a Raven - 

D: your mother is a Crow. 

S: there would be some part of me that would show if I was a hybrid -

r: crows and ravens are so similar -

F: your feathers are imped, Scra. On your left side. With Crow feathers. I did it myself. When I did, i…noticed there was a difference in the bases of those primaries compared to the rest of the wing. i thought it was weird, but didnt think to bring it up in case…

S: the…feathers are slightly longer. on that side. i was bullied for it, growing up. (flashes to child flashbacks when he was beaten up). it’s why i was able to survive not being recruited by a Murder for so long…a lot of them didnt want me. I used to trim the feathers, but people knew. On Kooup, no one but a Crow would touch a Crow, so i never thought…not until Cyras went out of his way to…do you think Neekia told him? do you think…cyras suspected i was a -?

F: with Cyras, your guess is as good as mine.

gera: it would explain how you know the lullaby, if your mother sang it to you. well, this changes some things, then. Daelen, pick up that stag. it’s seems as though we’re having a welcome feast for our new family and his guests.

farrah: at the risk of sounding rude…i would like to see your research facilities, if i may? 

Gera: …yes, fine. I am sure our researchers will be interested in whatever knowledge you bestow on them, also. everyone else, you are invited to my home for dinner after nightfall. dress accordingly. 

all sat at intimate dinner table, candlelight and soft lamps. ky sits next to scra to the right of Gera, his dad across from him. He’s staring.

Ky: (watching scra worriedly) you’re not eating

S: I can’t, Ky. my dad? my fucking dad??

K: i know, it’s -

ree: (from Ky’s left) flocking bonkers, is what it is. what’re the chances, seriously?

K (whispers): you…never told me about your feathers

S: because it’s embarrassing. who would want to be with someone defective -

K: you’re not - and I would’nt even - (be with someone??)

D: what are you to my son, Osprey?

(both startle. ky looks away)

S: He’s my…he’s mine. 

(Ky and ree look at him, both blushing. scra looks his dad in the eye)

D: (nods) you’re a Raven alright, loyal and territorial of your partner to a fault.

S: (realised what he’s said, blushes) I -

D: i knew you would one day return here, to your home. I never doubted it one moment. 

S:...why did my…mother leave in the first -

D: (lips downturn) not now. 

awkward silence

S: what’s our flock name?

Gera: ravens do not have flock names, only the name they and their mate choose for themselves. fledglings are nameless, and it is only until they bond with another that they create their own flock of two. our bonds are for life, and there is nothing stronger. 

r: i see why he looked for your mom for 20 years.

S:...my name is Scra. just Scra, then. 

(Ky holds hand under table. it shakes.)

S:sorry…this is…

K: (to Gera) may we be excused for a bit? it’s all a bit….

G: of course.

ky and scra walking in snow towards a bridge over a small icy pond. 

S: thanks. for getting me out of there. it’s too much. everything’s…just too much. 

K: just say the word and we’ll leave here. Just because you have some answers doesn’t mean you have to see them through. 

S: I have to get him to tell me about my mother. who was she? what was her name? why did she leave here? Why was she here in the first place? neekias mom always said she found me just-hatched in an abandoned building - was that a lie? did my mother…hold me in her arms at one point? Sing that lullaby to me? Some people say infants can hear through their eggs -

K: (covers with wing as they stop on the bridge) stop. we’ll figure it out, we’ll figure it all out, ok? (quiet, both watching the snow in the lanternlight) …do you know why i kept agreeing to pretend to be your partner, even after it made no sense to do so?

S: because -

K: because I thought it would be the only chance i would ever have to experience what it felt like, to be with you, like that. selfish, right? I figured I would be going to prison for the rest of my life, and i wanted a taste of that dream, just enough to sustain me through that miserable existence without you. 

S: i told you you could be selfish

K: and i was, and then you said “nothing’s changed” and I landed back in reality

S: …i meant what i said. nothing has changed. i’d loved you for longer than i even knew then, and i still do, now. 

K: w-what -

S: i love you, ky. even with all the shit things we’ve both done. you’re always there when I need you, you’ve never judged me, and even though our first meeting might’ve been a preconceived plot to get us to meet, I’m glad of it. I’ve never had anyone ever care for me as you do, I’ve never had anyone treat me gently. I’d do anything for you. 

(ky exhales, sinking to his knees in the snow. rests head on Scra’s stomach. scra plays with his hair)

K: you…love…me

S: i do

K: you love me

S: yes

K: when you asked me to be your family, you meant -

S: i want to be together, together. If you’ll have me

K: (hands gripping scras waist) who could turn you away. but your father -

S: is just my father in name only. I don’t know him. that doesnt make him suddenly important to me. (sinks to knees too) you’re important to me, Ky.

K: (threads fingers through scras hair, cupping face) you love me

S: (leans forwards) i love you.

kiss as snow swirls. farrah runs up with ree

f: if you’re both quite done, ive got news.

K: (helps scra up) you’ve been gone a few hours max, farrah. you cant have -

F: (holds red phones up) i’ve cracked it. managed to enhance their frequencies enough here to pick up the encrypted one I created on Kooup that the phones i made run on. we've got a bunch of messages dated weeks ago, but you’ll want to hear this Ky - Keelee’s safe. Cyras has her. 

I wrote both this and 252 yesterday and I think I'm gonna switch them around tbh since I think it'll be more impactful if the prison break ep follows this one, what do y'all think? Also lmk if y'all like Scra's confession or if I should add anything etcccccc
