House of Alphas Chapter 112: Hi My Name is… (Patreon)

You were lying in your bed, staring up at the starry night sky that you could see through the netted top of your tent. The pups were lying in your nest as well, sleeping soundly to your right. They wanted to have a sleepover and stay up all night doing makeovers. Of course, they couldn't stay up all night; they needed their sleep to travel the next day.

Though they pouted a little, a nice bedtime story was all they needed to fall asleep.

But you found it difficult to sleep.

You lift your hand, spreading your fingers as you cover the moonlight. How could you forget that Choso had given you a mark before he left the Eternal City? You didn’t even think about it because he was with you… and then he left… and then Kobeq happened… and then you massacred a fucking village… and then- gah- there was just- so much going on!

It would have been great to have a quest log that you could check to make sure you don’t miss anything important like this!

You flop your hand back upon your chest with a sigh. You wanted to call him ASAP, but you knew your alphas would like to know of your plans before you connect your mind with the beta.

However, there was also something else you needed to discuss with them…

It was another silly, silly idea you had come up with after talking with the pups…

One hour ago

“Yes…Actually, I forgot I had a call…” You say, looking at your hand.

Mimiko sounded urgent as she said, “Why don’t you answer it? Whoever it is could be worried about you!”

You frown, resting your hand upon the vanity, “I can’t…not before I talk to my alphas…linking with other people can be dangerous…”

Nanako looked confused by your statement, “Do you know who gave it to you?”

You frowned, “Kind of…”

“A friend?”

“…Mmm… not sure…”

Mimiko hopped in, saying, “Is it a mean person?”

Choso wasn’t a mean person…at least you didn’t think he was. But you also weren’t sure if he was necessarily a friend…

“I’m not sure…” You say again.

Nanako looked a bit saddened as she spoke, “I don’t like linking with mean people… sometimes they scare me…I know how to take it off if you don’t want it, Raven?”

It was ironic that she would say such a thing because you believed that during your call with Mahito, the bastard had harmed you in some mental way. You thought it was important to use this moment as a good lesson for the girls.

“I experienced something scary too... One of my calls ended with my memory being taken away from me. You gotta be very careful who you link with girls…only link with people you trust…”

“Someone took your memory?” Mimiko echoed.

You nod, ”Yes, but Yuta said he’d help me get it back.”

“What mean slug did that to you?” Nanako questioned. “We should turn them into a dokko!”

You released a little laugh, “I would love to turn that person into a dokko.” You would also love to end that person as well. He'd better not hurt your Dove.

You had gone a little quiet, thinking to yourself as the girls painted your nails. You will have to call Choso… a conversation you are sure is going to go well with your alphas… especially after the situation with the training session. It would be a tough talk… but even if you get over that hurdle… what if Choso doesn’t want to talk to you?

What if he's already dead?

Do you only have one shot?

You breathed, steadying your wavering mind before speaking, “Hey, Nanako… if I call someone and they don't answer, does the call disappear?”

“Yup.”

Shit… just as you suspected. If you call now and he’s asleep, then you'd be out of luck.

“But I know how to call back.” Nanako commented a moment later, too focused on the perfection of your nails.

“You do?” you questioned, surprised by her knowledge of such a unique spell.

“Mhm… I can call anyone you linked with.”

“Cool cool cool cool….” That was a relief. Wait. “Anyone?”

“Yeah, it’s easy.”

If Nanako could connect you with anyone you linked with… that would also mean she could connect you with Mahito…

~Present~

So yes.

Silly idea number two… started brewing.

What if you could talk to Mahito again?

You kept the idea in the back of your mind. There were so many things that could go wrong. He could erase your memories again. He could possibly harm you in a different way. There were so many negatives about this idea… but it was just that…an idea…

Perhaps one that you may not even go through with. But what if Yuta can’t get your memories back? What if Dove is in trouble and you need to speak to Mahito… is he holding her hostage? What was his next plan of attack now that the second episode hadn’t occurred?

You needed answers.

You knew he wouldn’t outright answer any of those questions, but you felt speaking to him would open up more ideas about what was going on.

Or it could completely backfire.

You will pocket the idea for now.

Right now, you will focus on Choso…

A soft whimper pulled you out of your thoughts. You rolled your head to the side to see where the noise was coming from.

Mimiko let out a little sniffle as she spoke, “M-mama…please don’t go…” Her eyes were still closed as she sobbed.

Your eyes softened as you rolled over to hug both girls. You purred to them, hoping to comfort whatever dreams they were having.

Mimiko’s scrunched-up face smoothed out, and she snuggled close to you, her hands cradled to her chest as she tucked her head in.

You pulled up the blanket and adjusted the pillows, making sure they were both tucked in perfectly.

You continued to pur as you held the girls.

Your purring almost became a different kind of noise. Like that of a musical tune. The sound surprised you at first. You touched your throat as if you couldn't believe you made that noise. It sounded really pretty, and the pups seemed to sigh in contentment, so you kept making the noise, lying your head down as you slowly closed your eyes.

You felt like your brain was getting a mental massage. Your comfort with the pups was also comforting you.

Man, there were so many calming things in this world.

The next morning, Nanami woke you up by calling outside your tent.

“Sweetheart, it's time to get up!”

You released a yawn as you stirred awake. “Girls~ we gotta get up.” You patted them awake as they groaned.

Rolling out of bed, you stretched your limbs.

“Can we have cookies for breakfast?” Mimiko threw off the blankets.

“No, you need nutritional food to become big and strong.” You say flexing your muscle.

The pup giggled as she climbed out of the nest, “I want to be so strong I can carry boulders!” She jumped up into the air with both hands above her head.

“Ugh-“ Nanako shook her head, “I don’t want to carry stinky rocks, I want to be able to pick up flower trees!”

You chuckled at the girls as the three of you got ready for the day.

Your tent was sooooo nice.

There was even a ‘bathroom’ section within it, where you were able to use a sink and mirror to brush your teeth. The section was a little small for the three of you, but still.

The girls were in an excited murmur as they brushed their teeth with you.

“Doyou-thinkGetou-willlet- meplay-withhis-hair?” Nanako questioned with a toothbrush in her mouth; you could barely hear the garble of her words.

Mimiko spit in the sink before saying, “If we are very very careful, he said his hair is precious.”

“Mhm, my alpha does cherish his hair…” You drifted as the water from the sink stopped running.

“What happened to the water?” Nanako questioned, hitting the sink with her toothbrush.

“I dunno…alpha!” You shouted, wondering which one of your men would appear.

“Princess?” Toji called from the other side, sounding as though he rushed over.

“Hey Toji, the water stopped working!”

“I gotcha, give me a moment, and I’ll fix it.”

True to your alpha’s word, the water came back on.

“Thank you!” The three of you shouted happily, continuing your morning routine.

Once you were done getting ready, Gojo and Toji took apart your tent piece by piece. Gojo used his super-fast speed to do so, moving much more than a morning Gojo would move. Nanami had told your alphas that if they couldn’t assemble and disassemble the luxurious tent in a timely manner they couldn’t put it back up unless it was a special occasion. It looked like it was a lot of work, but your alphas sure do love spoiling you rotten.

You shook your head while eating your breakfast, watching Toji and Gojo zoom around.

“Do you do this all the time?” Nanako questioned Sukuna as he sharpened her blade for her.

“Only when it starts to get dull…” Sukuna held the blade up to the sun, staring at it with a critical eye. “You keep hitting trees, so you are fucking up your blade.”

“Language.” Nanami inserted before the conversation could continue. He was sitting next to you and Mimiko as you all ate.

Sukuna only replied with an eye roll as the pups let out little giggles.

“Here.” Sukuna finished handing the weapon over to the girl. “Hit your target more often.”

Nanako pouted, “But he’s so fast!”

“Sneak up on him, use that perfume, you should…” Sukuna sniffed a bit, then his eyebrows furrowed.

“What’s wrong?” Getou questioned the alpha.

“Nothing…” The alpha dismissed the question, but you, too, noticed the weird moment.

And as you looked toward Getou and Nanami, it seemed they had caught on to something as well.

However, it might not have been a topic that Sukuna wanted to bring up at the moment, possibly due to the pups?

Nanami pulled out a golden pocket watch, flipping it open. “You got two more minutes-“

“Done!” Gojo huffed as he flew into existence right next to Sukuna.

“Impressive.” Nanami complimented as he shut his watch with a snap.

“Thank you, alphas.” You gave your alphas a pitiful look as Toji dropped down into the circle with a sigh of relief.

“No problem… we are-whew-“ Toji wiped the sweat from his brow, “Glad you like it.”

Sukuna frowned, “Is it really necessary to go through all of this for a tent?”

“Just because-“ Gojo huffed out, then tried again. “-Just because-“ The alpha flopped down next to Getou. “T-take it away buddy-“

“Just because your gift wasn’t nearly as good doesn’t mean you have to be a salty slug… did I translate that right?”

Gojo snapped his finger as if to say bingo.

That got a few laughs from the pack, but ‘ego as big as a thousand suns’ had to point out a lone candle that was left out.

“Forgot something.”

Gojo and Toji looked as they both hissed, spotting their mistake.

“It’s fine, really, I’ll get it.” You stood up, leaving the others to go pick up the candle.

“I can’t believe you forgot that Toji-“

“My bad, I was getting the tub!”

“It’s okay to forget! Raven forgot she has a-“

The noise behind you had become a bit distant as the pack conversed, but then, when you came back to put the candle away, everyone was looking at you, and the environment had seemingly changed.

“What?” You looked around, confused.

“You have a call?” Getou commented swiftly; his eyes had already been activated as he jumped up to grab your hand.

“How did you-“

Toji was also standing back with full energy, “When were you going to tell us?”

“Guys-I literally just learned last night, but please- I did not want to talk about this right now. Let’s save this conversation for when we get to Kyotoma.” Your words reached some of your alphas, but Sukuna did not seem to get the memo.

“Are we about to have this conversation again?”

And of course, he set off the others-

“Do you know who it is from?”

“You cannot seriously be thinking about activating it?”

“We should wait until we get to Shapuro-“

“Again.” You enunciate, glancing toward the pups who always seem to get in the middle of your debates. “We will have a proper conversation later.”

It took a few minutes for your pack to settle down; you had a feeling this was going to be the initial response because of what had just transpired. They were already on edge with you, their senses feeling distraught from feeling your anxiety. Unfortunately, your emotions do affect them, and they were freshly attacked by it in a sense. You didn’t think they were ready for a whole other round of ‘my omega is in distress’.

You felt sorry for them, you truly did, but this was the life that they chose when they didn’t allow you to go home and wanted a bad bitch such as yourself.

As you got onto your horses, Nanako whispered to you with a nervous tone, “Sorry…I didn’t know they were going to be so angry…”

You patted the girl’s head, “It’s okay, it wasn’t your fault.” You noticed that the pup still looked a bit dejected. She probably didn’t think there was going to be such an uproar about this. So you tried to cheer her up a bit by saying, “…The bamboozles were going to be spilled either way.”

“Bamboozles! Hahaha, what is a bamboozles?”

“What? Is that not what it’s called?”

“Nooo silly, they're called bandoolzes!” The pup’s laugh was so full of joy that you couldn’t help but laugh with her. She even called out to Mimiko to tell her about your little mix-up, and the girl, along with your pack, had a little humor with the slip-up. It was hard not to when the childlike laughter was so contagious.

Well, at least they could still laugh even after that reveal…

Now you had the whole ride to figure out how you were going to convince your alphas to give you the green light to take this call.

You will need to come up with a full PowerPoint presentation within five hours.

Doing your homework last minute prepared you for shit like this.

Things were a little awkward, but it wasn’t too bad.

Your alphas didn’t bring up your little call, but you could tell they were thinking about it. It was just something that was going to weigh heavily on their minds because they knew that you would somehow convince them to allow you to make the call, no matter what. They were never dreading the conversation; they were dreading the possible consequences.

It wasn’t something you wanted to think too hard on.

The horses trotted slowly as you got onto the main road that leads to Kyotoma. It was a busy road with people coming and going.

You just so happened to be near Sukuna and Toji, who were behind the group. Slowing down your horse, you fell back so that you could be between them.

“Hey…” Your eyes were still on the pups as they sat on their horse, talking to Getou and Gojo. “…You had this look on your face earlier this morning, what was that about?”

Toji nodded and greeted the villagers as Sukuna spoke to you. “When? When I found out you still had a curse on your hand?”

“It’s not a curse…I can remove it easily if I want. But no, that’s not what I mean. You were talking to Nanako, and it looked like something like- like I dunno. I know the look, and I just know there was something you wanted to say but didn’t.”

Toji looked over, and you saw that look on his face as well.

“See seee see! That look right there! I know expressions, too, guys! I’m learning to read you too! So I know both of you have talked about whatever this thing is?”

Toji chuckled awkwardly, “It’s nothing bad…per se…”

“But it’s not good, hm?” You push for more clarity. You were not about to beat around the bush; you were ready to cut to the chase. “So what is it..?”

“…” Sukuna pulled your reins, herding the horses in a single file line.

You had to wait for the giant carriage to pass by to get back to the topic at hand. “…Sukuna?”

“Are you trying to claim the pups as yours?”

The question he asked made you furrow your brows, “No…oh, is this about them sleeping in my nest? Is that bad?” You couldn’t really read Sukuna’s face, so you looked toward your other alpha.

“Well-“ Toji began, “-If you do not want to claim the pups as your own, I would strongly recommend that they don’t sleep in your nest…and you don’t scent them…and bond with them.”

“Bond with them?“

“It might already be too late for that.” Sukuna murmured.

“What does that mean in regard to…this place?”

“So…the story, or whatever, didn’t speak much about parental bonds?”

You shook your head no to Toji’s question. “Did I do something that would harm the girls?”

“No, no, sweetie, I just think you need to perhaps take a step back from them…I wouldn’t say that in an actual sense…But I feel you do not know how to keep yourself from bonding with them…no fault of your own, of course.”

“Damn…is it like that thing you were talking about when I spiritually open myself up to others?”

“Exactly that.”

That left you with a lot to think about. You didn’t want to make things difficult for the girls, especially when it was time to leave them. Unfortunately, it was hard to see what you were doing, and it seemed what you thought was okay…wasn’t.

“Can you guys let me know? I don’t notice when I do it.”

“Yeah, we got you.” Toji patted your back gently.

A flutter of wings caught your attention. A messenger bird floated around above. It didn’t look like Getou’s bird. It circled down to land on Nanami’s arm.

You’ve seen him get messages from back home and all around, so it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.

“Can I have my own room?” Nanako asked as your pack got to the inn.

“Sorry, little pup, Nanami is stingy with his money.” Gojo jumped off his horse.

“I make critical financial decisions so we do not end up with nothing.” Your blonde spoke as he came to help you.

Mimiko hopped down. “Can we have another sleepover with you, Raven?”

You tried to smile at the pup, and you tried extra hard to fix your lips to deny her. It was hard to say no.

Toji noticed your hesitation, coming to your rescue, “Not tonight, girls, we will be needing all the rest we can get before we cross the Great Bridge.”

“Aw~”

“Don’t pout…” You reached your hand to pat her head, but then pulled back and just slapped it on your thigh. You could smell her scent. It was mixed with your very own. You hadn’t actively scented her, but it seemed you were doing it without realizing it.

“Try not to touch them so much…” Sukuna whispered so the pups couldn’t hear.

“Yeah, I figured…”

“Get our rooms Getou.” Nanami tossed the alpha money, sending him along with Gojo and the pups inside. “I’m assuming you already had the talk.”

“I did.” You sigh, handing your horse over to Toji.

Nanami led you inside, where the pups were practically buzzing at the counter, Gojo riling them up with his Gojo ways.

You followed after them from a distance.

“I hadn’t noticed…not until Sukuna pointed it out…if we rest up here and then push for the Great Bridge tomorrow morning, then we can get them home within two to three days.”

“ I’ll do my best to keep my distance from them…as much as possible.”

“I do not think you have to keep away from them completely.”

“I know, but I don’t know how to not do what I do. The more traveling we do, the less time I have being around them.” You kind of felt sad about the idea. You loved the pups’ company.

Getting to your room, Getou had unlocked it for you before letting the pups into their room.

Nanami pushed your door open so you could enter. “Get washed up, and then we can talk about our…other topic.”

After your nice warm bath, you got ready for your meeting.

Leaving your room, you moved quietly down the hall. You stopped by the pups’ door, but you couldn’t hear anything. The rooms were soundproof. You were sure Gojo would have the ball on them, just for some extra security. You probably didn’t even need to ask.

You stopped at Nanami’s nest. Raising your fist, you knocked gently. It only took two knocks before the door opened.

“Hey.” Gojo greeted you as you entered.

“Can you-“

“Already have it on them.” He smiled.

“Thanks.” You were, in fact, right about Gojo taking the initiative.

“I also set traps around their rooms.” Sukuna decided to toss in.

“Are the traps for them or for enemies?” You questioned going to sit on the small couch next to Toji.

“Both.”

You smile, looking toward Nanami, who seemed to be in deep thought. As a matter of fact, he and Getou were uncharacteristically quiet. They must be dreading this conversation.

“I guess we should get this started, huh?”

“Before that…” Toji set a hand upon your knee, “There…is actually something we need to discuss first…”

The gesture caught you off guard. It was like he was setting you up to learn terrible news. “Oh no…did I do something else bad with the girls?”

“No, this doesn’t have anything to do with the girls.” Getou let you know.

Nanami cleared his throat, “ I should let you know…before I knew much about you…I had asked Mei Mei for some information on you…anything that she could give. It wasn’t that I didn’t trust you or-“

Sukuna waved his hand, “You don’t need to do all of that, Nanami, just give her the paper.”

Your blonde set your other alpha with a frown, “I would like her to know I meant no ill intent…”

“It’s fine, Nanami, I know, if anything, I’m happy you did so. What did you find? Maybe this can help me understand who Raven is?”

“Yes…well, here it is…a copy of Raven’s birth certificate…” Nanami slid a holographic paper off his desk. He then handed it to you.

You could feel the magic within the paper. It was a weird kind of material you had never come across. Your eyes skittered across the paper, but then widened when you saw the name printed in bold black letters.

It was your name.

“Is…is that my fucking name…?” You let out an incredulous scoff. Looking around the room as if someone was going to bust in with cameras and yell ‘YOU JUST GOT PRANKED’!

But no… that did not happen.

“It is…” Nanami nodded.

“Wow…I…” You set the birth certificate down within your lap; perhaps if you looked at it from a different angle, you would see a different name. But nope…that was your name right there.

Full government name.
